Abolish the IRS?
"But a (14-21%) National Sales Tax isn't progressive enough!"
Anyway, interesting interview with the new Man-of-the-Hour (GJ).
No doubt all the lefties and righties will point out how Johnson is as ... "crazy/nutty/delusional" ... as that Ron Paul guy. "Libertarians are all nuts!" The Ultimate-Control-Freaks on the far left and right will defend all their u$ual $pecial intere$t$.
Which is predictable as hell, actually..
Let the Kook-fest begin!

While there are several things I like about GJ (legalize,MJ, cut defense spending in half), you all might want to consider his actions while governor of NM, and the condition of that state.
For all his talk about cutting taxes, balancing budgets and vetoing a record number of bills, New Mexico is the 4th poorest state in the USA - only Mississippi, Louisiana and DC have a higher poverty rate. And that poverty rate would be one hell of a lot worse if NM didnt suck so heavily on the federal government tit.
and if this country followed his economic policies in 2008, things would have been a shitload worse than it was. His policies are like Hoover's in 1929-31, and we all know how well that went.
All that said, I will probably vote for the guy - Oregon will vote for Obama regardless of what I do, so I can help "send a message" and increase campaign funds for alternative parties.

I think this is the real issue. I know he doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning, but I've voted libertarian for the past 12 years or so for no other reason than to get the numbers up for a 3rd or 4th party. Until we knock down the strangle hold that the R's and D's have on the system nothing will change and the middle class will continue to get shafted.

I don't even bother voting because politicians are basically all the same. I might vote for this guy though.

On the surface I like the sound of this, but does the 23% sales tax apply to the purchase of a primary residence? How about rental property? I can assure you the NAR will fight this plan tooth and nail as it gets rid of the homeowner deduction and possibly adds a huge cost to ownership. I am pretty sure if real estate purchases were taxed at 23%, it would kill the market. Anybody know?

All I could find that may apply was that the tax would not apply to used goods.
It would seem that it would need to apply to real estate purchases otherwise real estate could be a huge tax shelter for the wealthy. Of course losing the interest deduction would be huge, so maybe not paying the tax would counteract that.
I like the plan as far as I can see, but I would like more info on re purchases.

Good interview. The first part of what he says sure does seem like evidence of an agenda in the mainstream news outlets (both on the Right and Left. See: CNN/Fox News). I may still disagree with him on a few key issues, but when he talked about a fair tax and the idea of being able to opt out of Social Security, he may have just secured my vote. I wish we'd hear some of his totally common sense ideals coming from the two main candidates.

Help get him on stage for the debates.

But the third requirement could lead to Johnson's exclusion. The commission requires a candidate to secure at least 15 percent in selected polls, which Johnson has not yet done. (Gary Johnson polled at 5.3 percent in a poll earlier this month by JZ Analytics; an April Public Policy Polling poll showed him at 6 percent.)
Johnson campaign spokesman Joe Hunter told Whispers of the 15 center benchmark: "We're certainly working towards that and hoping to achieve it."
Johnson's supporters have centered much of their polling frustrations on CNN, which has not included the candidate in their polling since last September. A Twitter hashtag #BlackoutCNN has been used hundreds of times over the last several weeks. Earlier this month, 100 protesters stood outside CNN headquarters in Atlanta with signs and T-shirts asking the network to "Include Gary!" according to the Independent Voter Network.

Where does it say they support the Libertarian Party, or it candidates, or even it's beliefs ?
Yes, it does use the word "libertarian", but that means nothing.
DDT has stated that he believes in elections, so he believes in democracy. But I am quite sure DDT is not a Democrat.
I freely accept and enjoy that my governmental system is a republic, but I am not a Republican.
The Koch Brothers belief system is much closer aligned with Facism than Libertarianism. The fact that they have duped alot of well-meaning conservatives and liberertarians is part of their plan."Zee damn fat skis are ruining zee piste !" -Oscar Schevlin
