Mounted Thing 1's new fucking skis for his fucking birthday. No template so I had to totally freeball it. Also had to do a little brake bendy. Came out money.

You can but...
There is a pretty good ramp angle built into the plates themselves. So if you just remove the plate and custom shorten the screws (in increasing degrees as you move towards the back, I might add), you'll feel like your boot toes are hauling wheelies. Possibly putting you in the backseat.
Plus the base of the binding (without the lifter plate) is not designed to be mounted directly onto the topsheet. Vibration forces will eventually cause cracking/failure to occur.Leave No Turn Unstoned!

I very nearly shit my pants mounting guardians on my wife's Kartels; I was 100% sure I drilled them backwards (tail up). Turns out I just flipped them around for better clearance under the drill press. Definitely had a moment of panic.
Throw a little extra masking tape on twin tips to mark which way is up. That's a really easy mistake to make. I didn't previously think I was dumb enough to make a mistake like that. Clearly I am. Glad there wasn't a penalty.

in an attempt to mount my own fucking skis I purchases the 22designs jig and proceeded to leave it at a buddies shop to use (he only had a 4 hole). Now I find out we're not actually buddies after he sold out and packed up without telling me, so I have to fight to get it back from the new guy. Good thing new skis are not in the budget I guess.

What state are you in?
Your "friend" had no legal power to transfer ownership of your jig. New guy is currently possessing stolen property. Send a certified letter, return receipt requested to the new owner, inform him that he has 24 hours to facilitate the return of the jig, or you'll be filing a claim of stolen property. It will be much less hassle for him to return the jig then deal with the police at his door.
I am not a lawyer. I never even stayed at Holiday Inn. But drop me a line if you need help with the letter.

Bandit Jr mounted his new Shiro's last night in ~20-min. He's stoked on his 100-mm fatties with burly DIN 2-7 bindings.
In constant pursuit of the perfect slarve...
