ive had two pairs of mfd plates not center mounted on my skis, mfd says its the shops fault and the shops say mfd provided paper jigs not metal so they are liable. anybody else have this problem? check to see if yours are mounted in the right place.

what is the generally accepted tolerance for a binding to be off, either from center or front to back?
your shop sucks you should tell the community so no one else goes there

Would agree that the shop sucks, and owes you. Bring the ruckus and tell one of the two principles to figure it out, as they owe you new skis!
I would say the most error I would accept in a mount is less than 1cm for sure.
All my mounts except one have been spot on, so 1cm may be generous.
The one error in mounting put my Duke at -2cm from true center on my first S7; turned out so good that I ended up mounting my new s7's ( the old ones broke) at the same spot! -Point being maybe try out your new mount and it could work out. Karma will like you for this.
Someone shoulda warned him that no matter how brutal winter or summer can be, a bad post on TGR can be almost impossible to weather once the shitstorm breaks loose.
Or worse, the "Shitnado"!
No, a shiticane.
Um... I'm gonna go on a limb here and say your shop doesn't necessarily suck - there's a distinct possibility that you suck at communicating. I've never met you or your shop before, but it's a possibility given your post.
1) "Center Mounted" means something different than what you imply here. If you use specific vocabulary, be sure that you know what it means.
2) If, indeed, the bindings are mounted a small amount to one side or another, this sounds like an honest mistake from the ski shop. Mounting bindings off a paper jig leaves some room for error. You paid them money, and you expect it to be perfect, but be reasonable and admit that human beings sometimes make mistakes.
3) How much are they off (left/right)? one mm?... you'll never notice. one cm?... that's a big deal. Be realistic about the tolerances expected of your gear.
4) It is very possible to fix an off-center binding (either by re-seating it in the same hole, or by re-drilling the hole and adding an insert.) Your skis are not ruined, so don't be a drama queen.
5) Go talk to the shop manager, be reasonable and explain your concern. You should get a refund on the shop work you paid for, and you should get the problem fixed. That's a reasonable ask, but don't be a dick about it, and don't act like an illiterate moron like your post implies.
Not sure what the hell your trying to say here... Brah
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Center mount does not necessarily mean "on the factory line." You need to be really clear when dropping skis off. Right down the instructions on some tape and stick the tape right on the ski. And I really wish people would just start naming shops that mess up so we can avoid them.
If your shop says they fucked up because there is no metal jig for mdf
they suck
no ifs ands or butts

OP, are they off fore-aft, side-to-side or both?
Why oh why can't people drill their own holes? Not hard to line up a paper template sometimes it's more accurate than an old worn out jig with the rubber feet all catywampus.

amen faith in the jig and speed have betrayed me plenty
the digital calipers don't lie
a bitch on cap skis

Why would you even contact MFD about this? The shop employee is a fucking retard for blaming a paper template and your not much better for not being absolutely clear on how you wanted them mounted.mfd says its the shops fault and the shops say mfd provided paper jigs not metal so they are liable

Asked a shop in quebec to mount my skis 2 cm back from factory centre once. Went to pick them up and they were mounted 2cm ahead of factory centre (more tail than tip).
Was upset, shop owner insisted I try them so I did. Predictably, they skied better backwards then forwards. When I went back to the shop the owner told me it was my fault and to leave or I would be charged with trespassing. He then went off on a rant about f-ing ski patrollers (I was one at the time).
I did not even get my money back for the mount... Needless to say everyone I met on the hill heard about how crappy the service at Shavers Ski Shop @ Camp Fortune Quebec was for a long time.
Your shop owes you new skis, no question. If they don't provide them give us a name so no one else is stuck getting screwed by these losers.
Before jumping to conclusions and saying that the shop owes this guy new skis, look at this dudes typing. If he communicates in the real world anything like he does in his post, they probably did what they thought was right.
It's been almost a full day, and the OP hasn't even clarified what he meant. Some people are busy, but I think he is just busy getting high and eating Cheetos and doesn't want to get his Mac all orange.
"not center mounted"
wtf does that mean?
Did you ask for ski center and get factory marked center? big whoop, they did you a favor.
Are they actually off center left-to-right?
How much?
Are they straight?
Try not joining a forum and posting like a 12 year old. I learned the hard way, too, it's ok. Just delete this and, if you still need advice after analyzing your situation, post a coherent sentence.
something sucks
STFU, we've been busy traveling and it was written on a smart phone. It was a ski shop in Jackson, the MFD plates were clearly mis-mounted (you could eyeball how off they were) off center (left to right). But hey, THANK YOU for jumping to conclusions, not all of us sit on the forums all day getting our post counts up!
Your phone's smart card got pulled. GIGO motherfucker.

Honestly, stop spreading that bullshit around. You shouldn't be trying to make it publicly acceptable for techs to fuck up your skis and not reimburse you. I know a lot of people on here seem to think that unless you set the damn jig up for the tech that any mismount is a lack of communication and your fault, but its their god damned job, they should be able to handle it themselves. And if a tech feels that the wording is obscure, The correct mounting position is a phone call away. I have never been to a shop that doesnt have the customers phone number on the front of the work ticket taped to the ski.
Yea if you say "slap those bindings right near the middle" it wont give the tech much to on, but the techs I know wouldn't let someone walk away if that was all they said, they would ask for clarification.
Totally agree a crooked mount or fore/aft mismount is bullshit regardless if the op was clear or just as dumb as they seem online. Any shop that can't mount a binding with a template shouldn't accept the work. You definitely deserve at least a refund and repair if not more compensation for that kind of fuck up even if you are a dumbass
