    Do want new bike. Bottlerocket?

I really, really need a new bike, where need actually means want. Needs to rail corners, have good pop off lips, and handle drops up to 5ft or so. Will be used almost all the time at Post Canyon. Don't need a big bike, PC is really smooth, all gaps and berms, almost no tech stuff. Definitely want a nimble bike rather than a bulldozer.

Will be shuttled 50% of the time, the rest of the time I'll be climbing up. I don't care about performance on the climb, as long as it's not so bad that I have a heart attack on the way up. Have a Reign now which I'll be keeping for XC or all day rides.

Thinking a bottlerocket with a dual ring up front would work. What say you? Any better options?

I would think a Reign would handle this nicely. How is it lacking?

It would be a good bike for PC shuttling for sure. You probably won't want to climb it much however... and you may have issues getting enough seat extension anyhow.

It's a somewhat specific bike, perfect to take a beating from jumping and bike parks, but it's also heavy and not very versatile. I think there is a reason they are often for sale... not that they are bad, but they end up NOT being what folks are after. It's sort of like an SX trail or TR 250, really good for that sort of thing, but not very good for anything else. If that is what you are after go for it, but if you want to climb... yeah.

There are a lot of other bikes that will be more versatile and still do upper Post well IMO. Reign X, Scratch, Nomad etc.

    SC Bullit or SC Butcher/Heckler

-Simple single pivot; super low maintence.
    -Stiff.
-Burly, takes a beating and never quits.
-Poppy-playful, like Tigger bouncing through the woods, not a bulldozer.
-Good boost off lips, and can definitely take drops.
-Uninterrupted seat post for climbing extension.
    -Inexpensive.
    -Available in anodized, durable.

I know it's not a fancy/trendy bike like a Transition, but it really is the perfect bike for what you've described.

Look for an sx trail from 09 or earlier.

If you don't like it, I'll buy it from you.

Yes I'm that confident you'll like it.

Previous gen SX trail, a scratch set up coil rear/180 front would be $$ for that kind of riding. They go uphill very nice as well. Canfield one would be worth looking at as well. I dig the concept behind the new entourage, but my last kona experience was not too awesome.

First off, I seem to have forgotten my internet bike question etiquette:

I RIDE THE GNARLIEST ROOTIEST ROCKIEST MOST TECHNICAL TRAILS EVAR!!! YOU CULD NOT HANDLE IT BECAUSE U ARE NOT CORE LIK ME!!!! SUCK IT MONKEYS!!

With that out of the way, SX trail seems like a possibility. 180 front seems like way overkill though, PC is seriously boulevard smooth, clean takeoffs and landings all over the place. Hardly a root to be seen. Maybe the SX is more all-mountain than I need.

sounds like a 4x bike would be what you want, no? Is there a 4x frame made with a coil?
    No longer stuck.

I've ridden post canyon a bunch. Before it got neutered even. Get an sx trail. 7x7 (or more to the point 160mm x 160mm) is money. A 4x bike would be fine but then you'll just be dragging your brakes all the time because you'll be going too fast for everything.

OK, I'll get an SX trail. Looks like it changed in 09, with the curvy top tube. So I'm guessing you mean an 08 or earlier?

Damn, that's gotta be some sort of e-record. Way to commit. That's a rad bike.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

    Thumbs up

Just got back from the first ride, thanks Kidwoo, that's exactly the bike I was looking for. Ridiculously fun. Pops off lips like a coked-up spider monkey.

It's perfect for shuttling now, need to put a dropper on it and maybe get a set of lighter wheels for climbing days.

    Nice.

I seriously don't know anyone who's ridden one of those and even been neutral on how they like it. Including me. If I hadn't spent so much money on a sled recently, I'd own one (and probably will by spring).
