Oh, I forgot....here is another reason why snowboarders are cool: I like their snowboards.

None of this applies, of course, to those who skin the BC. They always bin cool.

Although THIS, I'm pretty surprised at....as she appears to be RIPPIN'....back in wide-ring basket days when everyone else was still doing stem-christies. Good on her!!! Coolness exists in all decades.

Who IS she?? I've become enamored. Famous ski racer from the sixties, no doubt....on her off time. Ski form like that BACK THEN??? She ain't no house-wife.

Sooo... If snowboarding had never been invented 30 some odd yrs ago, skiing would've been frozen in time?

Sheeeshhhh.....No one's even re-pasted those nude hot chicks on the chairlift, yet???? Are you guys ASLEEP???

Anybody figure out who that hot female skier/racer from the sixties is yet?

EDIT: I'm more talking about twin-tips and wide twin tips nearly like twin snowboards, rather than the development of reverse sidecut and rockered skis, anyway.

But one thing for sure, the graphics on skis nowadays is almost a DIRECT transfer from the snowboard industry.....although I'm not really sure that's a good thing.

    Andrea Mead Lawrence (April 19, 1932 – March 30, 2009).

    I prefer this one.

Oddly enough, one of my favorite and still one of my 'go to' boards (a big black K2 Fatbob 162) has lost so muchof its camber that it's strting to feel like a reverse camber board. The older and flatter it gets, the more it seems to RIP !!!! Most unusual. Last season actually seemed its BEST. I'll be sad when it ever gives out for good. It's being prepped for another season as we speak.

So maybe there is something to McConkey's reverse camber idea. Too bad he's not around to fine-tune it even more. RIP McConkey! The guy DID know how to rip.

If it wasn't for snowboards we wouldn't have to deal with shitty snowboarders.
I think you have me confused with someone who is far less awesome.

Thank you Duke of Hurl and Shredhead for the information
    on Andrea Mead Lawrence.

Made the US Ski Team at age 14 and competed in the 1948 Winter Olympics at age 15.

I knew she was no house-wife.....not with form like THAT !!

And as Duke of Hurl's photo point's out...an early shredder to be sure !!!

OF COURSE I started this thread in jest !! Both skiers and snowboarders share a crazy passion for freezing their nads off on a chair for the sake of being able to slide back down the mountain at speed....meaning BOTH are equally nuts, and being nuts myself, I'm totally down with that!

I was a skier long before I was a snowboarder, and still ski now, albeit with scarpas and skins.

I told myself, I'd never go back to skiing with regular downhill equipment....but one is allowed to change one's mind, as I'd love to try out those new "ultra" shaped skis like the pair that girl has above.....and try some twin tips as well. Boots haven't changed for shit....and I'd just dust off my old Lange X9's.

Snow is too sweet to be a bitchin' n a moanin' 'bout one's choice of onhill slidin'.

McConkey took reverse camber directly from some of the 25yr old fully rockered snowboards.
    It wasn't his idea.

I'm just surprised I haven't seen any concave skis yet.
