SLAAG MOVING TO OCCUPY SLC: RIGHT OR WRONG?
lately it has been getting dam cold at camp bliss in white pine canyon - elevation 8000'. and, well i am thinking bout moving down canyon to the occupy slc campground. don't get me wrong. my 3 1/2 months in lcc have been grand indeed. however the cold over the past few days have brought me out of my summer daze. running, falling water freezes mid drop. i have taken to sleeping with a water bottle and jar of peanut butter to make sure thay are unfrozen in the am. my north face bag keeps me warm but... anyway i was wondering if it would constitute a deep moral breech if i moved down to the relative balmy campground at pioneer park? politics have never been my game and wall street is just a place in nyc to me. oh, i get upset about our crusader and drug wars but really i want better winter camping grounds. will i burn in protester hell for this? (actually, a little fire sounds nice right now)

Have you really been living in the woods for the summer? Damn, dude, that's core. You and sfb should go hang with the occupiers, just try not to get tear gassed by the Morbot Conservopatrol.
No longer stuck.

Occupy Wasatch Powderbirds.

Dude> Take care of yourself, chill out (I mean warm up) and before you know it the snow will start yielding some sweet powder turns and maybe you'll stop the powder hatingz. Of course, SkeeHoss is a lost cause.

for real the camp needs some things and many of the occupiers are hard pressed to walk and talk - so
we need:

tents
8" funnel (i know)

Yep Boike, I was around for 48H worth, so barley any time. I just bought a pass, though, and will be a Decembrist passing through again. See you at Soli or the Nerd. I'll let ya all know details and will keep in touch here. Unless Advres bans my sorry ass. Meantime, keep Slax2g warm and well fed, and away from the tear gas.

Wow, from ski bum who is camping out to jut bum. Nice transition. I know I go against the grain here but doesn't something seem a little wrong about receiving welfare/foodstamps/government cheese and then protesting that same government.
I am all about living the traveling life, have been doing it on and off for the last 10 years. But I try to contribute to society as a whole(other than TGR). I know you are revered around here for being the "purist of the pure ski bums" but really, where do you draw the line between being homeless and being a ski bum.
Rumor has it that you own a house? Whats the deal with that? Can't stay there, is Vinny Guido looking for you?

You're out of your fucking element here, Donny!!

Maybe, he is out of his house because he is a victim of predatory lending, and now has to rent it out, putting him on the street, just so he can keep his house?
perhaps he got screwed by his former employer and laid-off, losing his health care, and has been unable to afford new HC due to a pre-existing conditions? All to keep shareholders in a 'for profit' business happy?
None of these things are true, as far as I know....but those are some of the real issues OWS is trying to draw attention to. not less government but a less corrupt government.
who can argue with that?

Yeah, I can understand that MPPG. I have owned houses and I have held down jobs, and have NEVER been fired from one. All these things being said, I am not discussing the Occupy this that or the other movement. I totally advocate change but with Slaag, it is not an issue of change rather a free place to stay and eat. That is the definition of freeloading. It goes against EVERYTHING that Occupy movement is about. What I am beating at is some one is being praised for being a bum and not earning his own and he is not ashamed to admit it.
Now that said, I have given Slaag a ride up canyon once that I know of and maybe a time or two that I can't recall. I pick folks up all the time. I am not saying I wouldn't buy the guy a beer. I guess it is a little silly that everyone adores the guy for being a slacker. I ski seven days a week and I travel to exotic locales and do everything else that people seem to get all ooogly googly over and I do it on a meager paycheck. What I don't do is spout off in the net about how much of a filthy dirtbag I am.
Wow, I am a little sardonic this evening.

So if he has no shame, then why question it? He has to live with that, not you. I think most people end up on the streets by a combination of bad luck and bad decisions. I don't know what those are in this case, but if a guy is homeless, can still ski five days a week and be happy: I would say that is a good example of overcoming adversity when it comes to pursuing a passion.

sfb - get a refrigerator box, paint it up and call it the Homogenizer. Then have Slaag walk in one side and pop out the other side in a suit with a pile of loan docs and eviction notices, then he walks back through and is himself again.
I appreciate Slaag's openness and his pursuit of whatever lifestyle he chooses. If corps can get welfare and be people, so can Slaag.
