Sounds sick. I'm loving my CRJ's, and I was interested in trying to tour with EHP's but a little lighter / thinner would be better suited.

Any idea of the weight of these? My (admittedly quick) search yielded no info. Curious.....

    Some stats about me:
Ski 100ish days a year, mostly at Stevens pass.
    5'11, 170ish pounds
    22 years old.
    Head raptor plug boots.

I prefer bigger, longer skis but Stevens has tons of tight spots so I like skis that can pivot and slarve. I tend to drive the tips of my skis and stay forward.

Current quiver is movement trusts in a 186 and super turbos in a 192. Previously I have owned 4frnt ehps, and loved them except in trees with manky or hard snow where I felt a bit shorter radius would be less work.

I don't like noodley skis like ep pros. I prefer damp over lively.

The conditions were a real mixed bag, mostly hard bumps with a bit of wind deposit and soft unskied pockets.

4FRNT Hoji 187: medium flex to stiffish flex. Full reverse camber. Tons of sidecut taper. 30ish meter radius. Semi sidewall/cap hybrid. Much lighter the ehp. Wow! What an awesome ski. Very nimble at low speeds, easy to pivot and slide. You simply think what you want the ski to do and it does it. First run I dove right into some choppy bumps and had no trouble making gs turns through them. Super stable, no speed limit I could find. I could break the ski free at any point in a turn, but while on edge it actually CARVED turns, verses the vague feel that ehps have. Put the skis through the paces- straightlining bumps, sl and gs turns on wind deposit, carved down groomers, sliding, slarving and having fun in general. Not really anything on substance to air off of without risking life and coreshots, but I imagine these would be stomp machines. Can be skied from the shins, driving the tips or more centered, from the balls of the feet. I want to buy a pair...
    Thought this belonged here...

Am also curious...the hoji is geared toward touring, correct? If so, are we talking <8 or 9 lbs?

    Hoping you're reading this thread...

How do these flex compared to the EHPs? Are they similarly playful or are they more stiff like the Renegades? I have both Renegades and EHPs in my quiver and really like the shape of the Ren, but I have been spending some time on the EHP in fresh pow and like them better than the Rens in those conditions due to the more playful flex. I also find EHPs easier in the trees than the Rens in soft conditions. If the Hojis had the EHP flex, that would be ideal.

Thought I'd give all you mags a head start on the blog post we'll push out first thing tomorrow about the HOJI, seeing how you all have been doing some speculation. Not sure there's any surprises in here, but now it's official.

A special run of the HOJI with the old ren topsheet would be COOL

Medium flex through out. Very smooth, no "hinge" points. Playful and poppy, if you know how to work a ski you can easily rebound out of turns.

Awesome. Already have my eye on a pair of 187s. Any way we could get a side pic to get a feel for the rocker profile?

White Room edition with edge to edge wood core. THAT would be sweet.

I think it is going to look exactly like the renegade, but a little less (to match the 30m radius, vs 35 in the Ren)

Um? Smaller sidecut = more rocker, if they're matching.

Or I missed something. I admit, I was a little puzzled by the assertion that they would be a little flatter, have more sidecut, and still have matching rocker/sidecut.

Good lookin out. Still in love with this years Ren topsheets, so essentially what they have in the video would be my ideal ski/look... but the released version still looks nice. At 112 underfoot I'm wondering if it would be versatile enough to possibly be a daily driver (my current daily driver is 103). Curious if it will prefer short, quick turns like the CRJs or if it will want to charge longer arcs like a Ren.

Hey 4FRNT, now that the cat's officially out of the bag, can you tell us about flex vs. both EHP and Renegade?

Also, any way to get a demo on these around Whistler before the end of the season? I need to figure out whether to keep my EHPs or Rens next year if I picked these up. I thinking 1 of the 2 will go, whichever is more similar to the Hoji (i.e. if they're a stiff, ripping charger, I'd replace the Rens, and if they're more playful and fun, I'd replace the EHPs).

Need to see them in person first, but I fear I might have to look elsewhere.

Still begging for a limited white room release, though Or I might have to get Endre to build these skis to me...

Anything coming out of that Elan factory seems to be top-notch. I'd say you don't have much to worry about.

    ^^those look amazing!

that is a ton of rocker when he de-cambers them.

pretty sure the quiver next year will be these plus either Renegade, New Squad 7 or Automatic

Agreed. My VCTs were bomber. Wife's CRJs seem well built too.

the 4frnt ehp was priced at 679 euros in Germany (since you are located in germany). Its price in the 4frnt catalog is 799 USD.

with the Hoji being the successor of the EHP, i guess the pricing will be around this ballpark.
