Who has done a Lyric DH damper swap?

School me a bit here. I've got an older 160mm Lyrik RC Coil with Mission Control. Unless I'm mistaken, I need the Rebound and the Compression dampers. Is there anything else? Is there some sort of sleeve I need to be concerned about?

These part numbers look right?
Comp: 114015 415 020
Reb: 114015 416 020

Anybody got some lying around they don't need, or want to sell for cheap?

define 'need'. if you want to just swap out the compression damper, the DH goes straight in and costs around $85 and improves the ride noticeably.

if you want to upgrade to be fully equivalent to the current lyrik DH, then you have to upgrade the rebound damper. as i recall, the rebound damper kit from RS has all the parts you need.

I have a solo air and had the shop change it to the DH damper beginning of this year. They had to swap out the rebound damper and put the new DH damper in.

I've got a solo air rebound damper, but I don't think that'd do you any good.

those should be everything you need. I would pull the floodgate from your current setup if you have not done that already and see how it rides before you dive into the mico DH swap. If you still want more oil flow and the butter ride of mico dh, then go for it, but do the rebound and compression at once. Saves time and the mico dh rebound flows alot more oil.

Might as well get the latest DH damper if you are doing this, cause it fits all years.

The rebound hasn't changed since the one you have listed in your OP. I'm with those that say do both, cause no reason to go halfway, and wonder what you missed.

I did this for my Totem last year. The Totem has a different damper tube for the DH versus Floodgate dampers which MUST be changed if you want compression damping to work, but the Lyric does not. In the case of my Totem, the results were definitely positive, although they still never got even close to my old custom tuned 888 in small bump feel. Damn thieves.

Actually just did this 2 weeks ago to my lyrik. My fork had some major issue going on the damper side and pretty much stopped working. Its 4 years old and has seen some heavy use. I knew I needed new lowers since the bushings were shot, so I took it apart for inspection. The rebound damper had some pretty bad wear I figured at that point I should just as well replace the the compression damper to the new DH cartridge. It was still a lot cheaper than buying a new one and my uppers are in good shape so I jumped.

At this point I feel like it was worth every penny. Of course its hard to say the total effect since the old parts had seen some use but the fork is better in every way. I had previously gutted the flood gate on this fork and liked the change. At this point its a pretty fresh change over and the new factor may be taking over a bit but I do think the new dampers allow for more precise tuning. I am really stoked on the rebound changes. I am going to get out tomorrow to play with it some more. I will be doing ride XC ride in morning with some free ride lines in the afternoon so its should be a fun paying with it. I will try to remember to update after the ride. Make sure you get the right mount of oil as it takes more withe new rebound damper.
