where is that? the avy site isn't very specific.

today was soooo good at ww, a total sleeper day. 7c... oh yeah, I guess I'll go for a couple hours. stayed for 5, with only a 10 min break for lunch. it seemed like a whole lot more than 7- sounds like hardly anyone has been up the last few days so the 40 in that time just sat there waiting. it was soft, excellent quality snow... and dead. skied some new favourite lines. got my biggest air on skis yet, and landed it. jumping on skis is super fun. hands to the toes!

V, that's the Grizzly slide path in Rogers Pass. Pic is taken standing on the highway a bit west of the Hermit trailhead. It's for the best, I always hated bushwhacking out of there anyways.

I thought that was the bottom of "Rogers Run" or at least the bottom of what's in between Rogers proper and what's called Puff daddy? Or maybe we're talking about the same thing.

11 last night, 7 today, wicked winds though. Busy day that felt like I didn't get much accomplished. Had some great runs though. Beautiful visuals at the end of the day with the wind whipping snow off the ridge tops and the sun back-lighting it.

Coming throughout the Nakusp, Galena bay, Trout lake area on Saturday and Sunday.

Have a cabin in the Galena bay area and want to try out some sled skiing out there.

We have one older Summit 600 and 2 guys. Any advice from anyone for a reasonable access for a tandem or tow in area that we can lap or tour from? Anybody out in this area on the weekend that might want to hook up?

We have toured up Trout mountain from the road (long slog) last winter, and have done the Silverback area on Quads in the late fall, first snow. Saw a whole bunch of CMH flags and not really looking to cause issues with using the area.

Looking for some advice to get us into some better skiable terrain.

    Let me know.
    Man, It was great...

bummer about the deaths. sounds like they were led to an area they shouldn't have been.
are these guides IFMGA certified? I know the one girl at Valhalla was not and she thought she was the shit.

I was talking with some family the other day (who all think im nuts for enjoying touring) about all the Avy deaths this year, especially on guided tours. It got me thinking about the tough position these companies and guides are put in. They have clients that have often booked months or years in advance and paid a pretty penny, many of which don't have any formal backcountry experience. They have to provide a product and to find that product in the conditions we have been having this year means walking a fine line.

joe average tourer or stand-by guy on the heli or cat trip is able to look at the avy forecast and say "another day". That's a luxury these guides really don't share.

I have not idea on the circumstances on this particular case so I'll avoid armchairing but it is a serious consideration to think about for the guides out there.

Went back and played in this zone below Hanna peak. North facing, no crust, good times. Didn't encounter any deeper instabilities, though quite a lot of surface sluffing.

The sun the last few days was great! My last couple of days in Revy and I finally got to knock off a few lines I'd been looking at all season.

Sunny day number one was spent in Rogers.

Second day skied some chutes in the Revy Slackcountry.

Knocked off the "Z" Couloir this morning!

Couldn't have asked for a better couple of days.

sweet vid! snow quality looked like last wednesday when i went up. parts of robbie were outright scary today, however. turns out backcountry skiing when it's mostly tracked out, and plus 10 degrees C outside isn't that great for snow conditions!!

Haven't used my camera in a while, apparently I have some dust spots on my sensor.

Heading back out to this zone on easter weekend if you can find a sled.

Nice to meet you fellas. Great to see some folks came all the way from my home stomping grounds of Portland.
