Heading to Sun Peaks for the weekend of March 3/4. What are people's recommendation for the best place to get lift tickets?

I'll only be there for the weekend, and if there's been any snow to speak of I'll probably check out the resort both days. If it's been dry I might consider a day of touring. Any recommendations for 1 day tours with trailheads close to the resort?

You can tour from the summit of the resort. Some fun little laps. The summit is a big rolling ridge with NE & E facing lines. Not the longest but you can either lap them skinning or make your way back to the resort.

Check out the Gills area and past that. Snow should be good, not sure about sun peaks but Silver Star has received over 70cm's since thursday and it is nuking again.

Neuro... I may be at Sun Peaks on the 2-4. I'll let you know if so and show you around a bit.

Silver star was definitely good yesterday but if this precipitation keeps up tomorrow will be even better. Looks like I took the wrong day off work

I'm in Revelstoke until the end of the week, was up in Roger's Pass a few days ago on my Dukes, does anyone know if it's possible to rent a Dynafit setup in town?

Thanks for the beta El Hefe.

Wicked_Sick, thanks for the offer. Once your plans get nailed down let me know, I'll be arriving with a couple of others and we'd be happy to get shown around the mountain. Happy to put some cold beer in your hands at the end of the day as well...

Holy shit, another 17cms at the star. 83cm since last thursday. Looks like a good dump coming on Friday as well with colder temps. No need for the sled this weekend!

ossum day at ww! enough snow falling and wind blowing to refill. I sure am loving the new chair on busy days.

had some sun peaking in as we left, hopefully it didn't look too long.

I think I'm going to have to go for 8 days in a row this week. Maybe more if the forecast holds!

Best skiing I've had all year at Big White today. Boot top to knee deep hero snow in the trees with no tracks anywhere to be seen. Windy as fuck at the top with ice pellets that almost draw blood. The snow everywhere else on the mountain was pretty variable due to the wind and took a lot of attention to ski.

I'd rather not see any trip reports from out in the sticks and such this week. Stay safe folks.

95cm's in 6 days at Silver Star. Don't think I will be sled skiing. Pretty sure there has been at least 150+ in the BC around here.

I'm looking forward to Red this weekend! snowfall warning!

just got back from ww where I hooked up with twbarrett. Token 2 hours of sun in the morning to show off the sights, then met up with a little crew for a side tour. Got down just as the snow was moving in. Legs are jello. Day 6 might be a short one.

A heli was trying to do some avy work in prep for the coldsmoke fest this weekend. Trying because the bell or something broke. I think it's one of the first times ever for snow falling during the fest.

Great skiing today in the sidecountry at Red, but avy conditions were definitely HIGH. We triggered several Size 1 slides in manageable terrain. I wouldn't want to have been anywhere that was exposed. Not like the solo snowboarder who was first up ahead of us and dropped in to the guts of Centre Chute - solo...

We gave the hill a chance too but after a couple of runs that were less good than expected, we bailed. In retrospect, I think we are just spoiled right now.

We saw the Google snowmobile trucking around too, so expect street view to extend to Red sometime soon!

Big white was wicked yesterday and most of today, until I lost a ski.

Tonnes of hero snow. I got first chair up gem yesterday and played on the whole mountain.

Today, I just lapped gem and did the famous "one more run" which resulted in a bail and subsequently losing a ski. It was in the pillows just to skiers left part way down black bear, not sure of any name for the area. I spent an hour and half looking in waist deep snow to no avail. I can't return until next week to search in which case I figure it will be hella buried. But I'll try.

Soooooo, if anyone just so happens to come across a Fischer Watea 101 in 192cm with a Baron on there I would be forever indebted to you. The other ski is lonely tonight and I think I'll need to bring it in the bedroom while it mourns this loss.

Otherwise I suppose I have a spring/summer mission up there.

i saw a few of those exposed lines down robbie early on today. was thinking, "wow, that's really stupid."

also saw the multi-camera sled riding around today. i wonder if they'll have my fist pump on ridge rd...

Good Luck! If I make it up Sunday I'll poke around a bit, though there's snow forecast for Friday. Shoot me a PM if you ever want someone to ski with at BW

yeah, totally spoiled. weird on the googlesled. wtf on the snowboarder.

we've got snow. forecast is for 25c by saturday morning. I wonder how that's going to play out for the powder fest. lots of inbounds clinics maybe. at least all the sidecountry won't be totally shralped like it usually is by the end of it.

Thanks. Looking at the forecast I think Im pooched for the time being. I have toyed with renting a metal detector but not sure if the terrain is conducive to carrying around something like that. Im guessing my best bet is a spring find with heavily rusted edges and binding.

Ill be heading up sometime next week and will shoot off a pm to you. Do weekdays work for you?

I've seen people post on TGR about having done the metal detector thing successfully. Not sure where you could rent such a thing though.

Gonna gun it from Kelowna to Revelstoke after work. RMR saturday, then 15-17km at the Gorge for tree runs(safest place to ski on avy prone days). If anyone else is in the area rip a PM!
you have to shoot something, cut something, or burn something every day for redneck consideration
