Sorry for the hijack, but i have been skiing revy, gorge, three valley for the last six years and most of my ski/touring partners vanished this year due to various circumstance. If anyone is looking for a ski/touring partner, rip me a pm. I also have a sled for gorge and three valley access, etc.
Thanks.you have to shoot something, cut something, or burn something every day for redneck consideration

Headed to big red cats in two weeks, stoked to hear it's improving with more snow in the forecast
I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

I am booking a last minute trip to BC from the 12th to the 16th. from New Jersey. Where's the best snow going to be for this short stent.
Whistler area. Revelstoke area. or Red mountain area.
Looking for trees, good snow and maybe some mellow jumps and pillows. Also looking into Cat or skin accesed.
Red is the easiest and cheapest to get to , but if the snow is better elsewhere, I'm willing to travel.
Thanks for the help, and let me know if anybody wants to hook up for the runs.

i'm new to the red area, but...even if you show up during a time that we haven't seen fresh snow in a few days, even a week, you should still be able to find some pretty awesome lines.
if you're willing to hike a bit (lift accessed skinning), you'll always find some good fresh tree skiing up the surrounding mountains that take 30-45+ minutes to get to, which bring you back to the cat tracks of red resort. inbounds a few days ago was one of the best riding days i've had in years, and it was only with 15 or 20cm overnight.
That was Pontus might be able to chime in here, a bit better than i.
my lovely girlfriend got me a standby pass with BRC for xmas. i'm beyond stoked.

Did a few solo laps in RMR cat country today. Snow was a little sun effected on south facing slopes but the northerly aspects were skiing really nice. It was also great to escape the clouds in town and get up into the sun.

Snow has been just epic over the holidays in my neck of the woods. Seemed pretty stable as well given what just happened in Revy and other obs from local ops.
Spent a wicked NYE with a large crew in the mtns, many who had never been out on sleds or in the B/C before, always good to get the wifes and GF's out to have a good time and see where all the $ and time goes in the winter.www.skevikskis.com Check em out!

Hey Crank
Actually just moved from Armstrong to Lake Country this last year and make trips north from there. I picked up a wicked case of Pneumonia on the 22nd and am just getting back up to speed the last few days so christmas break was a no go for me. Open to get out any weekends or even the occasional week day as well.you have to shoot something, cut something, or burn something every day for redneck consideration

Skied Avalanche Crest in Rogers today. Kinda windy, kinda snowy and kinda rainy. I think everything I own is wet.
Dug a pit in Eagle Basin, got no results though one of the SH layers wasn't too hard to find. The west face of the crest itself was a different story... Fairly reactive layer down ~20cm was pulling out small slabs everywhere. If I so much as thought about a slope cut, I could get a slab to pop out. This eased up once we got a couple hundred m down the run, though the steep roll in the middle was exciting. Bottom 300m was soggy, last 30m was on the verge of slushy.
All in all, fairly normal for the area/year. Worth getting out.

Five Snowpulse Avi Backpacks Stolen - Kelowna, BC
Just want to throw it out there that my local shop, Union Cycle and Ski, in Kelowna, BC, was broken into last night and five Snowpulse avalanche backpacks ($1200 each - retail value) were stolen along with some goggles. If you happen to come across them on a forum, classified or the back of a truck do the right thing and report that shit. They are a small, locally owned shop so when shit like this happens it drives me insane because they are such huge supporters of backcountry skiing/boarding.
Here is the link to the story http://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna...at-Union-Cycle
If you happen to see anything feel free to contact me or the shop directly at http://www.unioncycle.ca
Comeupins are in order!

That is the HST on the Jan 3 ZR crust (above 1700m, from the inversion). CT3 PC on it at 1900m on Fidelity, along with CT19 on the preserved graupel down 52 and CT30 down 115 on 121211 SH. Switched to rain at 1350 m on our ski down. PST from yesterday produced 47/103 END on the SH. Worries are the warming, wind slabs, cornice failure, and looming persistent deep slabs

first day at big red cats pretty decent snow up top end of the runs lots of stumps lurking in the snow. only a meter of snow but the guides do a good job of pointing out the hazards. but still face shots whenever you want them lots of pillows to pop off watch the landings though. Red mountain is a bit tracked but the base is solid.

honestly, Red is probably doing the worst for base right now. Sure, we have snow and it is snowing bit by bit (in usual slacker Rossland Range fashion), but with a very dry long range forecast and weather going up and down like a yo-yo, I seriously recommend you think about going up to Revelstoke (or at least Whitewater). The Rossland Range is skiing like pre season November right now.
