Good day at Red... we cracked 200c! This afternoon we got some serious pukage going on for a while. Sweep was deep! Tomorrow will be good.
I'm going to have to pull the plug on day 9 of my streak as I have to make a longer drive tomorrow than expected, so no time for snow. It was an excellent 8 day run! My tally is 3 full days and 5 half days which included 3 powder days, and 1 1/2 day tour. And I worked my office job pretty much full time during. Maybe I can still break the double digits this season.
Let March madness begin!

Not the usual 3% water content snow but still lighter than coast cement. Strangely the sh is only 80-100 down but snow seems overly stable. But I am not tempted by big faces yet. Going high tomorrow

Buried hoar still an issue below treeline. Storm snow is approx 70 - 90 cms with about 5- 10cms of large-grained hoar at 1300 - 1500m. Approx 2000m storm snow is 140 (!!) with a minor windslab interface at 70. NE aspect hasty had CTH 26 failure (nil result - very marginal resistant planar) at 70. 140 interface is decomposing stellars.
SW aspects at 2600m not confidence inspiring. Slabby and "looks" spooky/ We were hoping to drop into the Lily and ski laps on the Lily and Bonney then go back out Asulkan (Bostock permit area closed) so we just dropped back down to Triangle Moraine and lapped.
Our group split into two. Other group pulled the plug on Forever Young (ominously large cornices protecting the entry ridge and also slabby at top) and skied good snow down Seven Steps.
Winds light except at Sapphire col proper fyi. I shovelled out the door but the shitter is buried fyi

Didn't make White on Saturday. Realized I'd forgotten my boots by the time I hit Fruitvale and so wound up riding Red instead. Missed the snowfall of the year, didn't miss the crowds from the sounds of things. I'm guessing you were the grumpy looking instructor Jeffro?
Sunday, finally got a tour into Plewman Basin proper this year. Quick pit got a CT11 popping about 60cm down on the prominent rotten layer. Didn't see any natural activity whatsoever. Wouldn't want to be near anything unsupported/high consequence at the moment. Lapped the low angle trees off the centre ridge. Trashed it out pretty good before everyone else showed up to the party. Gotta get up early to beat those damn snowboarders.Life is simple. Go Explore.

Stunningly good skiing to be had the past few days. I was surprised at how stable things were, but I went in with really really low expectations. A few shots of FGP skiing.

It's snowing a fair amount up at big white. And windy as f$&k up top.
I went up today with my shovel, snowshoes, and gps to see if I could locate the ski I lost last week.
I found it! FKNA!!!!! It was buried two feet down a tree well, I definitely needed the big snowshoes to get under that tree without sinking up to my neck. I had this particular tree in my mind before I got up there and I found the missing member within 10 minutes of starting my search.
Now I'm going to be joining the gaper club and start using powder leashes during soft deep days so I don't have to deal with this again.
