    nice pics, sweet snow!

I had a great weekend... pow and a skiing breakthrough! I got a lesson from a friend and learned how to open up my turns, and how to ski the tops of the moguls. What a revelation. I knew I wasn't doing it right but I didn't know what to do differently. It's much easier than hitting every single mogul old school style. I'm excited. Faster pussycat!

    And, it snowed again.

thanks guys.. it has been very fun! Yesterday was super deep but also very heavy, making it difficult to move on slopes less than 15-20 degrees. I've pretty much been getting out 5-6 days a week which is nice. -3 at RP and Fidelity right now, so I suspect some ugly snow for turning and large storm slab formation. But XT predicts it to cool down and still snow all week so it should get grand again!

My breakthrough makes such a difference that my guy actually gave me a hug and fist bump partway down a run. Yes!

Fresh snow, and hardly anyone up there. I love the koots.

Skiing was so good on the weekend I literally could not do another run on Sunday. Skied until it was dark on both days. I am beat. Things are filling in very nicely.

I woke up today to an all too ominous sound, "Drip, drip, drip." Foggy, claggy weather.

Then I drove to the hill and it was all slushy and gross. First chair was sloppy and wet...

Then we broke through the valley fog to beatiful sunshine and cooler weather. The winds had buffed everything out overnight, and the skiing was great! Not too many people, and I managed to get first tracks in a few of my favourite places. Put two sets of tracks down Main before anyone else. I wish I had a picture because they totally show the versatility of the BROs - one set was wide open fast turns on the grooming, and the second set was perfectly rounded pow turns in the wind buff on the side.

    What a nice turnaround.

Let me know if you pass through and plan to stop! Where are you going, Fernie?

Did my first log ride on skis today, about 7' long, 5' drop. Almost lost it but kept my eyes on the prize and made it all the way. Fell on landing but that's not important. Next time!

I am really getting into skiing, it's been super fun. The pull of the dark side is strong.

ww continues to be awesome. they said only 2c but it skied like more. and of course, hardly anyone up there.

Had an experience at the RMR retail store that's left a bad taste in my mouth so I thought I'd throw it out here. A friend purchased a product at the store on the weekend. We go off skiing for a couple of hours. The product sucked, clearly wasn't working as marketed, so we went back two hours later to return it. They wouldn't allow a return. This item was not on sale nor did it specify "final sale". They weren't very helpful. I wouldn't go buy anything there.

Otherwise, no complaints of the skiing lately! The conditions have been prime.

hey Revy mags- just wanted to say thanks for the hospitality last week. Nice to see real snow for a couple of Tahoe orphans. We gave up and came North- 3 days on cats and 3 at Revy. I'm sure we sat on chairs with some of you (or on a barstool at the Village Idiot) - snow was great, folks were kind, beers were cold.
Thanks for making us feel at home. We won't tell... too many.

I think Red won that round, based on the snow stick anyways. WW was pretty nice today- soft, leftover pow and sun. Helloooooooo high pressure! Nice to see the mtns. Time to tour! Stuff around WW is already looking pretty tracked.

^^ think those will be just valley clouds. Everything I am looking at is calling for an extended dry spell with an inversion setting up next week.

At least we will be able to get some good shots and vid. No stoke collected yet this year.

Yea, looks like no new snow for a while. Time to get up high and check things out.
Did the classic Youngs peak down forever young on Friday. Amazing day. Blue skies, zero wind, and about -3 up top. Lots of small wet slides on the south facing aspects. Nothing that I saw was stepping down to the deeper layers. I'd keep an eye out for a lot dropping cornices if things stay warm up there.

Just came out of rudi's, first 5 days, snowed around 30cm each day, it had been doing that for the previous 4 as well, they had over 250cm in those 9 days. Snow pack at the hut was 400cm, in the alpine was 600+. Rudi said it was the first time he had ever seen that much settled snow depth by jan. I was wishing I had bigger skis than my normal bro 179 setup as the snow was so deep and fluffy that you could hardly move unless it was at least 30 degrees or better. Last two days were bright and sunny so high alpine and glaciers were the order of the day.

Skied off the summit of Mt. Green with downhillrider yesterday and threw in a lap on the Bonney Glacier for good measure. South facing stuff is cooked and the steep rocky stuff started sluffing shortly after noon. Old crowns from the last slide cycle were all that we could see. Shady aspects are skiing great. Get after it!

    Pictures later, maybe...

Cool... yea Jon gets out quite a bit... pretty quick on the split.
Yea, the Marins are great. But it looks like they won't be around these parts for a while.

Sad to say the store is closing down as of Mar. 1st If anyone is around kelowna and can stop by, there are some pretty killer deals on skis and bikes, etc.... Skis, bindings boots... 40% off Bikes at cost. So much has been snapped up already, though.... Not a lot of touring bindings left, just F12's I'll try and get a list of whats left in the next day or so, but feel free to PM if looking for anything in particular. BD, Moment a few Dynafit skis left. 1-2 Stokes, Mustagata, womans haute route (no bindings left)...
    thanks

I'm sorry to hear you guys are closing.I always received great service and enjoyed your selection of quality stuff. Is the closure due to lack of business?

Thanks WS.... yea, it was due to a lot of different factors, but its a tough go for a lot of the medium sized business out there. Big overhead, competitive prices = tough goin...
