That or I'll get distracted & go straight to the NSFW thread in the padded room.

Anyways great MPC, nice shots everyone.
Now everyone is going to vote for Lonnie, since you said you were voting for Lonnie. It's all effed up now! So just to make it fair, I voted for altmanator...

As a finalist that looks like a long shot, I'd have no problem if gpetrics decided to shorten the voting to just a few days (end Monday at midnight?). Also, the contest thread is packed with awesome shots, beautiful work.

Yeah I've always felt like the voting period was too long. Most of the regular photo folks get in there in a first couple days. I'd say 40 votes and we've got ourselves a valid MPC and that usually happens in the first 3-4 days

i just went with what happened last time, and used that a precedent. i feel weird changing the rules after the board has been set. if this is going to change, i advise the winner of this MPC to consider making the change in the NEXT MPC (if they so choose).

#1 - 8 days for voting is waayyyy too long. I did 4 days and it saw almost the same number of voters as these longer ones.

#2 - Lonnie always fucks up every MPC voting thread ever. He asks for no comments when he is in the running, but he sticks his fucking nose into every-single-one regardless. Do you really need attention that bad? Your facade is crystal dude and I can see the insecure you behind your e-persona.
I think you have me confused with someone who is far less awesome.

I like all the comments and what not and I voted for birdboatboy. If you want picture with no banter just head over to flicker. Does it really matter if all the talk sways this important election one way or the other? Frankly I think birdboatboy killed it here and it'd be better if a hundred other people were on here discussing it.

maybe i should start a polling thread about whether or not to reduce it from 8 days! XD

jk... i DO feel bad about changing the rules in the middle of the game, but I STRONGLY encourage the winner here to modify the next instance of the MPC.

and as far as comments... i like discussing stuff whether it's a voting thread or not. I come here because they are the TGR DISCUSSION forums... not the TGR silent auction forums... so... i guess i just don't agree with lonnie. it's all good to disagree tho

I haven't said anything yet, so please let me put my foot in my mouth.

Fuzz, if you're paying attention to this thread I really liked your shot here, and certainly thought it was among the best:

Fall is really just starting to get started down here, and where that shot was taken in VT it was already done. Maybe the next contest can be Autumn instead of Foliage () or "Giant Human Heads" in which case I'm gonna smoke you fools.

WTF is up with all this butt-hurt drama over a feel-good "competition" where nothing is at stake?

I also don't understand why we shouldn't discuss. So what if the outcome is influenced? Not like someone's losing out on big money. I personally like to learn when others point out the (subjective) pluses and minuses -- helps me develop my critical eye and my own photography in turn. And if you don't want to be influenced, vote first and read second.

FWIW, I thought birdboatboy and ml242's entries were the most unique of the finalists. I voted for birdboatboy's; with a little bit of processing, ml242's one might have won out for me.

Exactly. Except Lonnie needs to turn every voting thread into some sort of drama.

Simple solution but in the end, does anyone really care that much? If you do, well... I don't know what to say about that.

Yeah, it was EXACTLY this comment I was waiting on, because I KNEW that none of you would understand where I was coming from. When the guy running the contest tells you to "eat a bag of dicks" (it was said "in jest" and he edited out, but I saw it), there was not way I could feel good about the outcome. So I PM gpetrics and bailed. If he's man enough, he'll verify what I'm saying.

All I originally did was make a request. It's TGR and the United States of America, you guys all have freedom of speech and can do what ever you want. You guys disagreed with me, and after my comment to Steve, I didn't say anything else. I'm not sure how that's butthurt, but some of you apparently think it is. It's all here in the thread (with the exception of what gpetrics edited out of his post). The butthurt didn't come from me, it came from everyone else.

Say what you guys will, chalk it up to butthurt or what ever you guys want to think about me. I know where I'm coming from with this and after it's all said and done, this little guy will give me a happier feeling in my pants that one of these things ever will.

I agree. Comments are good and you shouldn't wait until the end. I also like to vote before I read the comments. I'm not sure there is anything wrong with reading the comments. Maybe someone will bring up an interesting point that will affect the outcome - it might not be a bad thing. Maybe I'll read the comments before voting next time.

    I voted for birdboatboy's also.

Remember a few months ago when you posted a voting thread to the padded room? And now because you are in it you want everyone to not comment until voting is over? Like I said, your insecurity is transparent (maybe why you keep posting pictures of your naked wife and newborn) dude and please I don't need another PM from you justifying your position.

You're a joke. A joke that takes nice pictures but still a fucking joke.
I think you have me confused with someone who is far less awesome.

And as I said in the PM, I AM sorry for that. Unfortunately, I can't change past history. Lesson learned. And lesson learned here. And for the record, I've been in alot of these. So your insinuation that I get in this one and try to throw everything is off the mark.

Truth be told your the one that's still butthurt because of the the small sensor MPC...

    Remember this??? I do...

So it looks like I'm not the only mag here that's cuntted up a MPC. Welcome to the club...

Yeah I remember that one. I crushed in that thread. Especially my handmade circle with the line through it over my camera.

But I bitched about the topic, not the comments. I claimed that you didn't want to leave anyone out and then you made it solely blocking many of us out. I still claim it was a stupid topic for the exact reasons you suggested were the reasons for it.

Now will you please leave this thread for commenting on the awesome pictures and voting instead of again trying to inflate your self-important ego?

Like it matters? You were as much of a dick in that thread, even more so, that any comment that I made here. Everyone ignored what I asked here anyway, so no harm, no foul.

In that thread you submarined the topic before it even got going. As I said, all I was trying to do there was take folks out of their comfort zone and see what they could do when the image isn't decided by the quality of the body or glass someone's sporting. It's calling pushing the boundary artistically and creatively. You never got that.

As for the commenting in the voting thread, think of it this way. What if I'm in one of these and write up a pretty stinging critique of my competition and PM it to my buddy to post in the voting thread? Would that be cool? Not saying it would happen, but it could...
