Shane McConkey RIP, Maggot, Continues To Make The World A Cooler Place

The Squaw Valley-based Shane McConkey Foundation was created in honor of pro skier Shane McConkey who was lost in a tragic base jumping accident in 2009. While it may still be in its founding year -- the SMF is making moves as big as our beloved McConkey, and have already donated over $30,000 in support of environmental education!

The foundation hosted its first annual fundraiser this past March called the Pain McShlonkey Classic, and with support from the likes of Red Bull, Squaw Valley, Oakley, K2, and a ton of additional donors -- the event was a huge success and fitting tribute to Shane's memory.

"It's been completely overwhelming and inspiring to be embraced by so much love and support from around the world," says SMF Founder, Sherry McConkey. "I started the Foundation as a means to channel this amazing wave of passion and love that people share for Shane into causes that he cared about."

As a result, SMF selected two groups to benefit from this year's Pain McShlonkey Classic with $20K going to Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) and $10K going to Protect Our Winters (POW).
