WYDOT is really good about keeping the pass open. They have a great text/email alert system for closures too.

Just make sure you sign up only for closure notices, otherwise youll get bombarded with slick wet in spots texts all day.

The talk about the road from IF to Swan is dead on. Pine Creek is almost always open. I think Ive gotten skunked on it once in 5 years.

Both roads (Rexburg or IF routes) you're dealing with whiteouts moreso than epic snowfall. I dont think you go over 7k feet on either route.

From Boise? I live in Jackson, so what do I know, but I've never gone to Boise via Rexburg.

Actually if you are coming to Targhee from IF, the northern route, via route 20, is much faster. You don't have to deal with any of the million Idaho Falls stoplights. Just go speed limit on 20, fair warning.

Harpo pop me a PM- can give you some snowpack/ backcountry beta. I think I bought some boot liners from you years ago, and you went on the Fairy Meadows trip w Marty last year, right?

By the way, skied 25 short today, which was NOT wind kacked, like much of the west side and some spots on the pass. New slab is 2+ feet, but clean breaks on the Feb 9 layer of surface hoar and near-surface facets. A few new slabs pulled out in the Wednesday cycle, visible today.

Anyone got a good ski shop in Jackson they can recommend? More specifically I need core shots healed and a wax and I want to get it done next Saturday night when I get in. Anyone want to make a quick buck?

Went for low elevation ski this am, TONS of down trees, big ones. Sheltered N trees skied well

    Travel safe.

Can anyone get me info or websites or guide books to easily accesible ice cragging in the Teton area? I heard there is some stuff between Driggs and G. Targhee?

Easy ice cragging in the Tetons is called either driving to Hyalite or Cody.

But seriously, you're thinking of Teton Canyon. Most climbs are pretty obvious from the road, but its a decent walk/ski on a groomed trail if you don't have a snowmobile.

Thursday in lower Cody bowl and upper Rock springs was the best run of the year... Shiny new Red box to the goods fer sure!!!

I put a sticker on my Thule box from every resort. My JH sticker that I stuck on my box after our runs blew off when we went over the pass on that night. Guess applying stickers in light snow at 5 deg is a fail. Can anyone mail me one, I can Paypal the 3$-5 thanks. You pick it, I ski so just need Jh on it and then I'm stoked, thanks
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

I guess I should thank you RideIt, for the waist deep in Casper today. Oh man, I've been grinning like a fool for hours!
Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.

Grand Teton National Park was established on this day, February 26, 1929.
We don't make the snow. We just make it more enjoyable.

Between the crags & casper, I'm going to go ahead and call today my resort day of the year... so far. It made me feel much better about having my testicles blown off my body by the wind yesterday.

    Jackson was fucking rad today.

Shout Out! No Jackson trip is complete without visiting Pearl Street Bagels. Either town (us) or in Wilson.

Completely great. The crew is awesome.

Thanks for all the advice, Wyoming Mags. We cancelled our trip up there as we are supposed to have the biggest week of the season in Tahoe. 45 inches along the crest of the Tahoe Sierra by Thursday night! That would just be an average week last season but it is the best we have had so far this year so it would be stupid to leave. We will come your way later in the season when we are supposed to get as much snow in Tahoe.
