Heading up 25th to Tetons and got a couple q's:
Can anyone recommend a good shop in the Teton Pass area that rents splitboards?
In the market for vouchers/discounted tix for JH or Targhee if anyone wants to unload.
Much appreciated!“I mean god damn, who could believe that shit.” Greg Noll, Riding Giants

fortysix&2,
check out the boardroom in town. call ahead of time and they will set you up on a voile 166cm. I'm 6' 180lbs and found it to be a little big in the trees but manageable. $40 a day

Hmmmm....been out here for one season and you think the locals give a shit about you and your opinion. If you hadn't just unpacked your car, you wouldn't care where your momo neighbors build their crazy meetinghalls. Do you even have Idaho plates on your car yet? I think you're just some noob who just got out here and jumped right into the not-in-my-back-VARD culture war over the new stake on 700s. News flash noob: some cranky old hippies and the rich new homeowners in VARD are the only ones who want that temple in Victor. Nobody local gives a shit. The city government does not want a six acre tax exempt block crammed into the town center. You didn't know that because you are a big city dumbfuck and you don't appreciate the basic importance of getting along with people in a small town. You just got here and now you are telling people off. Nobody local calls this place the "TV". It's just "the valley." You better stay anonymous. Maybe if you'd been around for awhile, you'd know some local history and how the ghee's infrastructure has deteriorated with no plan (or money, apparently) for fixing it and keepng the place running in the future. For better or worse, the resort is our winter lifeline and, economically, we need a nice enough resort to keep some destination skiers in the mix. Without enough vacation skiers, the resort's business plan will be property development and high pass prices or did you think that through, pinhead? Did you like how the lifts conked out during big storms systems the last two years? Do you think the resort's financial troubles bode well for the future? Do you think lifts just grow out of the earth...whatever....you'll be lookin for a new ski town job somewhere else in eight months so what skin do you have in the game? I've spent over 800 powder days up there and Ullr only knows how much coin. I guess you are just Mr. Positivity (unless it has something to do with momos and their temple). Myself, I just found it laughable that folks would complain about getting a tram and two new lifts while their pass prices go down. I'm like, hey, send some of that bottomless wealth over here, we'll share that burden.
LoinLover, please come and go cat skiing. Nothin shady going on, just a man without a plan (besides real estate flips). The terrain isn't really impressive but the tree skiing on Peaked is pretty good and the guides are good people. Walshy is a hoot, always fun to be around.Last edited by neckdeep; 02-17-2012 at 07:02 AM.

The ghee has a pass holder "friends and family" benefit that allows us to buy up to 4 tix a day for $55 each. It's only $14 savings per ticket but it adds up if you are buying multiple tickets. If you offered me a 24oz beer in the parking lot, you would be my friend. Probly work with most of my friends as well.

Or you could take a longer time perspective, say 15 years, and say that we have 2 new high speed quads, new terrain on SAC , open gates and cheaper passes. Sure the last few years have been tough and some poor real estate decisions have been made, but Geordie's hardly the only one you could say that about.
And nice use of unsubstantiated rumor to slander someone.

None of which was planned and paid for by the current owner. That was Booth Creek, pre-birthday present. Get it right, PD - a land swap, a broken patio, a new deck for the bar, malfunctioning pass scanners and new cats but no diesel to run them, thats the current legacy of the present owner. Pass prices were $299 when he took over and now they are $599. Half my riding buddies are gone because he inexplicably took away the vert value program AND the payment plans, necessities for struggling locals with family and house bills. I love the place but none of my numerous city friends will come and spend money here on a multiday vacation trip and half my local friends have been chased off to the BC.

Sounds like you had better just say fuck it and commit to the pass or park full time. If you cant pay another $300 bucks for your beloved Targhee pass, then quit crying about it and start touring. Beats the last 7 passes I have bought at the village, $1600 and I dont bitch one bit....totally worth it for 135 day party. Bogus Basin in boise still has a $300 pass, is kinda like riding Targhee inbounds, and it has a city within 16 miles! Maybe you would be happier there.

I'd pay $1000 if it came with the plan to invest that money in a lift up Peaked and maybe some lodging that isn't 20 years old and looking like a crappy Best Western. Cuz if they don't, I'll be paying $1000 soon enough for the same hill. Seeing prices rising while services deteriorate...lets put this back in original context. The Kemmerer's are investing big money into the Village's on-mountain operations and supporting the local economy in hard times by lowering pass prices. They are showing a commitment to SKIING and back it with their money. And people are complaining? Then harshing on me for pointing out how things are pretty much the opposite over here. In my obnoxious way, admittedly, but if you don't like the way I get salty, fuck off. Don't read it. If you haven't figured out yet that I hyperbolize just to get a rise out of people, you must be new around here. I can't see why anyone thinks the ghee will remain magically suspended in amber for our lifetime. Stuff wears out. Like my patience, right about now. Thank Ullr its snowing.

yeah, so why aren't you skiing?
Gotta admit, those DC lift issues didn't really set well with me last month...what was the problem, first i heard motor, then an iced haul rope...The blues has always been about taking your problems and turning them into something you can dance to, drink to and fuck to.

Oh man, again? Please tell me this is an old injury repair. How do you keep doing this and stay alive? You are a wild man, W. Remember 10 years ago, I was the one who couldn't stop getting hurt? Lesson learned. Smashing my kidney last year was enough. Now, I just ride to ride again tomorrow. Good luck under the knife, mon frere.

Thanks.
This is my other knee now, might as well be balanced!
Skied two turns on a snow king groomer, with 4 year old Ben and wifey, going slooow.
Went down, dynafit didn't release, ripped the ligament off of the bone.
I see Rork at two.
Rough night.
Go get some for me.

this is the real issue and if you haven't noticed JHMR is spending a lot more money recently advertising and getting up high on those Ski magazine top xxx lists. a few extra lifts that let folks get more turns and access better terrain on their vacations from real life is a good thing. and let's be honest, 75% of the "locals" are from the east coast and haven't been there for more than a few seasons anyway. go figure how a town of 10,000 has 9,999 hardcore extreme skiers living in it that don't want to share access to public forest land.

Had my deepest day of the year today on a N aspect around 10000ft. Hasty pits consistantly showed easy failures in the newest 10cms or so and hard failures on the newest drought layer. HS around 260cm
Lots and lots of sluff running slowly but not to be taken lightly.
