Shhh... let the lemmings keep lining up at Peak Chair!
It was horrible on Blackcomb.
Line ups were huge.
There was no fresh to be had.
2 + 2 = 5.

Probably not considering you had to go straight there 1st thing in the morning, stand there like a dumbass 1/2 the day and really only got one decent lap in before the angry mob chasing you down destroyed it all in seconds; whilst the folks using their noggins were schralping uncontested pow all day in the alpine on Blackcomb from about 9:15am on!

15 minutes later - boom! one of the best diamond bowl laps i've had!

keep in mind all alpine was shut on whistler the previous day, while everyone was shredding glacier and spanks all afternoon- so yea whistler was a hell of a lot fresher yesterday

Blackcomb was definitely the shit yesterday. Started off heading up from creekside, looked at the peak line from red, said fuckit and enjoyed the glory of blackcomb all day.... sure the alpine was open the day before but with another 15 fresh or whatever it was plus some friendly wind there was no shortage of glory. If I had to quantify it I would say that peak would have been 1 insane lap at a rating of 5 GSA blessings followed by an increasingly tracked blowout with exponentially decreasing blessings to be had on each subsequent lap.... All this at the same time blackcomb held a steady 4 GSA blessings all day long....

Skied whistler until the lines got bad then headed over to blackcomb which was deep again until I ended my day with a nice pillow to tree to face plant to cat track

I was one of those lemmings that waited in line for almost an hour. I saw the light board indicating the 7th was open on Blackcomb and I would have made the jump if P2P was running. I’ve been visiting Whistler (from Hood) at least 2x every year for a very long time and I have never seen or waited in line that long. …but who’d have thought that it’d take that long for peak to open …patrols were bombing all day on Thursday.
Now, having said that, it appears to me that I would have a better chance at Spankys off Glacier lift during the storm and the 7th has a better chance of opening after the storm, which usually blows in from the W/SW. I need to strategize little more carefully on my next visit.
Ahhh, it’s good to be home …and man, oh man, that first run off peak was SWEET!

Didn't take many photos from our brief stint in Whistler, but good times were had.
First, we started with a well stocked fridge. Organized as: cheese shelf, bacon shelf, beer shelf.

We were part of the angry hoard in line for the peak chair. I have no regrets. A non-mag friend succumbing to heckling from the lift:

Mrs. Toast...

Peakchair - I was just coming around the bend when your buddy sent that backflip over the cat track. That was badass - nice work to all involved.

Today = wow.
Started off stormy. Deep Garbo laps to start the day, then P2P liftline, then Peak Chair opened just as we got back up as we skied to the t-bar with the intention of going into Harmony. A couple runs into Peak's opening, skied an untracked chest deep Tiger's Terrace. Timing is everything. Then it went bluebird.

Maybe I'm a spoiled bitch, but this ear infection + cold that's kept me in bed and off the mountain since Thursday is freakin' killing me! Seems like this weekend was the time to get sendy wendy. I might try it out tomorrow and see if my ear drum blows up...

Toured up Rohr Ridge yesterday and skied the western aspect, I believe. Deepest, lightest snow I have ever skied (although I don't get out much so take that with a grain of salt). It was the first time I have experienced snow riding up my body and going over my head. Second lap snow was sun affected and a bit heavier. Amazing day. My partner had the camera and will post picks if there are any good ones.

Saturday- whiteout deeeeep doa. Got the soft surface slab to run on ski cut.
Sunday- Deep and delicious doa at the crack of showcase! And then she went blue...
followed by Deep and delicious husume, thanks for the skin track.
don't swill shed on a SA sz 1, soft surface slab in the rocks, but I would imagine the right side entrance is suspect.
Originally planned to get into corona, and in hindsight should have skied spearhead and skinned up, but on the traverse, right past the boot pack to husume, I propagated cracks 35m off of my ski tips, which failed ~1m down (mfc?)... Watch out. Turned and skied husume.
Unsupported and thin/steep/rocky features are touchy.
