2011-2012 Summit/Eagle CO Ski Conditions, Roll Call and Stoke

    Road Conditions:
    http://www.cotrip.org/home.htm

    Weather/Forecasting:
    http://www.coloradopowderforecast.com/quick-forecast/

    Avalanche Conditions:

Let's start this thread off with a little bit of fun. Depending on how much snow we get, I'm looking to get out and do a little bit of grass/newsnow skiing on either Saturday and/or Sunday. Anyone else game?

Already on it. Heading out towards Vail this afternoon from JefCo and then maybe south towards Telluride/ Silverton later depending on what might be better snow. Best use I can think of for a 3day weekend Would appreciate any tips/ first hand knowledge of good spots too!

    What about Lake County?

Guess we're just the maids and dishwashers for Eagle and Summit.

You should go make a Lake County thread - JONG - the Arkansas R. Valley has it's own feel & much different weather anyhow.

Okay then... on to some early season STOKE from last year:

    11/2/2010 in Summit Co.

I yelled FKNA! when it started snowing outside my office today. Arms up claim too. Time to wax the rock skis

    Vail shout outs to:

    Moe's BBQ

Buzz's Boards (facebook only, they post some good edits tho)

La Cantina - in the Transpo!

    ...and the latest snowmobile updates:
    Holy Cross Powderhounds
    Statewide Grooming

Hoping for a LOT of blue on the satellite & radar this year too. See you out there mags!

Good to see it back! Moved to Denver this summer after 8 years in the Vail valley...can you say withdrawal? Here is some more early season stoke from last year. Skinned up Vail on 11-15.

    It was good.

    More please!!

yeah, up on Chalk Mountain where the three counties meet the weather magically changes depending on which side you stand on.

You are full of failure son. Tits or get the fuck out you 3 pump chump.

We speak Spanish too. So get over it. And I know your stashes better than you do.

Please leave, door on the right.

Lemme guess: no knowledge of localized weather, audacity to ask before giving, needy behavior with some kick:

Front range transplant (no offense to the poster of said name).

Don't slip on the ice tonight, douche.

Snow stuck my steps and bushes at 7500 feet, not really sticking to the ground though.

Here is an Eagle County version of Groupon...

Even better, I'm actually from the South originally.

but you probably did insult about half the posters in this thread ripping on the Frange.

Chill. The Vail entitlement is wreaking up the thread.

Seriously though... wouldn't even the "localized" weather be the same in all three counties on the point where they meet?

Oh jesus, is the main page going to get clogged up by all the "official" threads again?

OMG, LOL, I insulted half the posters on this thread. I think not. I've skied with all of all of them I think. You, little douche, can't understand the simple little things that those puffy tiny or massive white things in the air do when they hit little valleys, certain ranges, from different directions at unpredictable times.

In sum, you are a fucking asshole, who, if you had any experience living in the high country, would kick yourself in the teeth yourself, and to reference another thread, sentence you to a lifetime of trying to kiss your own elbow.

    Fuck off douchebag.

I heard that it's mostly trolls in Lake County...

I do plan on getting into the Homestake Peak area this season, I've seen some good stuff between 10th Mtn. & Uncle Bud's.

And one last snack for Mr. :

Eagle & Summit Counties do well in W through N flows.
Lake County Gets the scraps from those storms, but can get dumped on in E through S flows (upslopes). In a geographic weather sense the Arky Valley & S. Sawatch is like a more protected front range. I do wish it got more snow down there, and you do sound like an idiot. The good side of Chalk Mtn. is off limits anyway, my bet is that you're sledneckkin' on the south side, lowspark.

My big line list for 2012:
    Savage Couloir
Holy Cross & Bowl of Tears multi-day trip
    N. Gold Dust peak via McCoy Peak
    Mt. Powell
    C-Prime Couloir
    Solitude Massif (Gore)
Snow Peak, Grand Traverse Peak (Deluge, Gore)
    What Big Eyes Couloir

I'm a fan of any & all weather. Dumpage = FKNA awesome, but a long high pressure streak, mid-winter, opens up the possibilities for the big stuff with weird access.

Last year, that window never really came...

But you didn't complain about all that pow, right? Twas good.

It was there BTW, but a short window. Looking forward to another, another, again, great skiing with great mags.

Bring it. It was a taste tonight. But let's get a couple more bikini nights, days on the river, hunts in the mountains, and realize that if there is more than one season, we are blessed.

Heat tape, buy a new scraper, find your grain scoop, scrounge up for your pass money and bargin with Excel.

But by Lord, give us a moment to prepare. We are warned, and we are armed, quivers and all.

    Amen.

Nice list Goatski...we share several of the same. Savage is definitely on the list and would love to check out more homestake access.

Have been spending alot of time in the Gore and after talking to Lindahl I think Deluge is definitely a target this year. So many options.

That said, I wouldnt mind skiing pow every damn day.
