Yeah, I had some plans for big lines and kept getting snowed out. We had to turn back on holy cross after our first night out. For once we hoped for no snow and still got it.

Everyone, try to stay healthy between now and the real start of the season. I tweaked my knee a little at the skate park today (likely because I haven't skated since high school). That would have sucked if I killed my season there. I'm ready to get out there and ski some pow.

I'm in need of partners this year more than ever, and I'm slower than ever at work, so I'm more determined on tracking down some mags this season. Looking forward to it!

I wasn't insulted as I don't live on the Front Range. But, at least one of the other posters lists their home as Boulder. Whatever, a lot of folks seem to spend so much time trying to think of rude remarks you rarely actually READ the thread.

I've been familiar with this place for a long time and had another log-in years ago that I lost so I'm not at all surprised by the abrasive remarks. I also read the wiki again and wouldn't dare try and "change" the forum regardless.

If I were going to characterize a group of transplants as "douchie" it probably wouldn't be southerners but I admit to being a bit biased. I've lived all over the world so I don't know how well the label fits any more.

Anyways, woke up with a bit more snow on the ground and reports for more. Didn't make it down to Wolf Creek which was a bit disappointing but may go down during the week and take a peak. Cheers to a great season wherever you live! I've got a few ideas for a list of descents for the season I'll post later when I have more time.

Fool's, Gold Dust are high on my list, Eagle Peak, and a bunch of no names back there. Good zone for sled access, and I got a sled

There's a zone south of Holy Cross that I want to do some sled access in this year. Pretty sure jbski and I are going to do some sled access in the northern Gores too. Mantraskier and I have been talking about getting out to the Deluge area.

For those getting after it, here's some photos of the northern Gores from a trip a buddy and I did back in early August. It was amazing how much snow was still out there:

I wonder if that N. Couloir that he climbed is skiable. It was 60-degree ice on the climb.

Goatski: I never got out to Savage this year like I had planned, so if you need partners this year, let me know.

Headed to A-Basin on Saturday. Maybe some skiing Sunday, too, but I'm leaning towards biking at this point. Anyone else?

Went up to A-Basin today. Crowds weren't as bad as I thought they might be with one lift/WROD and the snow was better than I though it would be, but started to get chewed up and bumped a bit by the end of the day. Deciding to skip this weekend and get in a "final" climb and bike ride Sat/Sun.

Anyone else doing the A-Basin WROD on Sunday?

I'll be skiing the ribbon Thurs/Fri. Anybody else?

Come out to Keystone tonight for All.I.Can at warren station. Show starts at 7 doors open at 6. It's $10 and benefits the Friends of Beethoud Pass.

Also, I think I'll be hitting the WROD on Monday or Tuesday if anyone wants to meet up.

Some pretty silly tracks up on Indy Pass yesterday but one set on the east side linked up what looked to be a relatively hazard free and fun descent

I skinned chair 10 at vail today. Wasn't very deep, There were a lot of saplings to dodge. I got sent over the handlebars on a water bar, but other than that it was fun. There was also a good cm of surface hoar in a lot of places, especially the shaded parts of the runs. Not sure how widespread it is, but it's there, so heads up.

We drove to the bottom.

Loveland Pass was closed when I got up to A Basin this morning, so I just did a few laps there. The wind was howling out of the east, dumping snow onto the west wall. So strange. Then it calmed and I went on up the pass. Not so good as last week for me. Less base and less fresh. Fortunately I got a midweek pass for Loveland and skied a few laps over there...basically just worked my way across the continental divide. Fun morning.

Do you still have to duck to get back in?

Some people say you should just ski to the bottom and climb out. The snow is often so wet and sloppy down there but ive done it both ways.
