What size of Moment Bibby Pro?

Alright, so I've decided on geting the Moment Bibby Pros, but now I need to know which size. I saw that for 2012, Moment has two Bibbys in the 180 cm range. They've got the 186, that seems to be a lot narrower at the tail than at the tip, and the 184, which seems to be more of bidirectional ski. From what I've read, the 186 is stiffer, and more of a big mtn ski, right? I'm consider between these two, and also the 190. I weigh 160lbs, and am 5'11". What size would you recommend for my type of weight and height. I will be using this ski as a one ski quiver at Mt. Baldy, which is close to Big White and Silverstar if any of you know where that is.
    Some info would be great,
    Thank you,
    Karl

    Go with the 184, you won't be disappointed. I'm on the 190, but I'm 6'4" 220.

Also, try searching Bibby . . . there are a ton of threads on this already.

Thanks for the input, biff. I've done many, many searches on the Bibby Pro, but just wanted to have some input regarding my weight and the different models. Also I couldn't find much on the 186 model.
    Thanks,
    Karl

If you ski switch, get the 190. If you don't, go for the 186 Special.

Thanks for the link to the review, biff, I hadn't read that one yet.
@Pappa: you're saying I should get the 186 special for skiing around the resort? I want it to be as versatile as possible. Some clarification on that would be greatly appreciated. Thnx.
@Camalax: thanks for the input. Could you tell me what level skier you rate yourself at?

    Thanks everyone,

    Thanks everyone for the info.
@Biff: thanks for the review, hadn't read it yet.
@Pappa: should I really get the 186 special for a versatile resort ski? I thought it was more of a big mtn ski?
@Camlax: could you tell me what level of skiing your at so I can compare it to myself?

    Thanks again,

Hey Carl, A whole shipment of them just showed up today at the shop in Kelowna (Union Cycle & Ski) Come by and check them out. I was on the 190 and loved them, but looking at the 186, it looks amazing, more my style. Like the others have said, depends on the type of skiing you're into. 184 and 190 are going to be a lot better riding and landing switch in the deep, and the 186 looks to be a lot more business like...

@Alyn: I was planning on coming down to Union Cycle next week because I heard you carried Moment. That's awsome you just got a bunch in.

    Thnx again,

I'm 5'11 150lbs and ski the 186cm, the one previous to this iteration. I've enjoyed it quite a lot but thinking about trading it in for the jaguar shark. Not a big use for tip and tail rocker on the EC.

I ski in Austria, am 5 foot 9 and 72kgs, and the 190 is fucking perfect. Never feels too big (apart from the deepest and tightest of moguls) due to the rocker, yet super stable at speed.

So is the 186 more of a charger than the 184/190? It seems that with the pintail design and tighter radius it would be more washy and nimble in the trees and perform more poorly in open spaces, vs. the 184/190 with a tail that's more suited to locking into a carve.

P.S. Moment's lineup is a clusterfuck. Too many choices!

Haven't been on the 186 (yet), but the 196 is by far more of a charger than the 84/90. What was amazing about the 196 was how quickly you could swing it around in tight trees (demoed them at Winter Park during SIA). I spent the better part of 2 seasons on the 190 and had no complaints. They killed in every condition, especially firm and tracked out conditions. But if it comes down to having the same ski with a flatter tail and less sidecut from midsole back, how could you say no?

Distinctly average lol. I ski mostly offpiste (probs classed as backcountry in the US?), comfortable pretty much anywhere on the hill, not averse to the odd small drop, happy on reasonable steeps (45/50 degrees), and I've been working on opening up my turns and speed in all conditions (Bibbys made a BIG difference to this!!), but I'm still not a 'hard charger.' Probably done 70/80 weeks, and over the last 3 years while I've been at uni have been getting about 8 weeks in a season.

Seriously though, the skis are pretty forgiving and easy to ski as long as you have a modicum of good technique. Very versatile too, even on groomers.

    I'm 5'11" 165 lbs.

for an everyday ski i would go with the 184 or 186.

if you want a versatile, playful ski that can go anywhere, go 184.

if you want a much stiffer ski to charge and straightline, go 186.

Thanks for all the replies with helpful information, guys!
I'm leaning heavily toward the 184 Bibby, but am still considering the 190. I don't think I'll go with the 186, seems too much of a charger for me.
    Thnx,

For the conditions around here the 184 will be a blast. Going to have to check out Baldy sometime this year. Its been a while...

I've got a pair of Rossignol FKS 140s to slap on the Bibby pros? Does that sound like a good setup? It will be an inbound ski, so weight is not so much of a problem.
    Thnx,

After hand flexing the 186, they are most definitely a charger and are stiffer than the 184.

Also FKS 140s on the Bibby would be solid... I used to have the 120s on the 190 length.

That's because the 186 Bibby's are actually the Bibby Special, as are the 196. Pedantic, I know. It took me a lot to find out the difference and I wanted to pass it along...

The 190 Bibby was my daily driver here in CO for 2.5 seasons. During that time, I was also on the Garbones and Belafonte before ultimately realizing that the Bibby is just as good as those skis on firm conditions. Not once while on the 190 did I think it wasn't stiff enough even when bombing down days-old crud.

Check the review on Blister. They do a great job of contrasting. http://blistergearreview.com/gear-re...-bibby-special

Oh, and I made the comment so the confusion between the skis don't continue. Seems to be a lot of that around as the Specials are pretty new and aren't distinguished too well on the Moment site.
