Final Deciosion: Scarpa typhoon Vs. Hurricane Pro
hello, such a tough decision on what im gonna get. im set on one of these two boots. thinkin i may not need the 125 flex of the hurricane pro. also like the forward lean of the typhoon over the hurricanes. have not talked to many people that use these boots. only one guy on squaw ski patrol that loves them. i want a stiff boot i can drive any ski with. 70% inbounds 30% tour. any info helps, thanks alot!

I have the typhoons as my everyday boot and I love them. Love the ability to swap the tongues when I'm touring. Haven't done a ton of touring but so far inbounds they have served me well.

I tour the Skookum and ski the Hurricane in bounds. To my eye the Skookum looks like a Spirit 4 lower shell and Typhoon upper cuff and liner. I would get the Hurricane Pro if I were you. Skookum is kind of soft even with the stiff tongues. I don't think the Typhoon's tour advantage will offset its skiing disadvantage. Hurricane is not retarded stiff IMO. TO me the HP kind of obsolete's the Typhoon. FYI I'm 5'10" 180 lbs. passive aggressive skier (not super chargy), Northern Colorado Rockies.

Why are you not choosing between the Mobe and the Hurricane Pro? I use both. Mobe tours/hikes better and the Cane skis better.

Hurricane has a walk mode now right? I know it didn't a couple years ago when I got my typhoons. If it does (I'm pretty sure) go for it. I love my typhoons but a little stiffer wouldn't be a bad thing.

I personally find my Typhoons a bit soft. The stiffness of the Hurricanes might be nice as would the tech fittings in the Mobe.

thanks for all the feedback. i want to use the DIN soles in my 09 jesters and they JUST came out with the AFT adjustment in the jester/griffon lines. i feel i would only want the mobe's if i was gonna rig em up with dynafit binders. the rocker sole def would help also but, for what im going to be using these for i feel i could use the tour advantages less than the burly freeride DIN boot.

I have Typhoons and Skooum's. I like the typhoons for in bounds and they are stiff enough for me and all my quiver has to offer up to loti 138's 202cm. They are not plug boot stiff so if that is what you looking for go with the Hurricane as they are stiffer.
They only time I notice the flex is when it is warm out, the prebax gets noticeably softer in spring like conditions.
For the price and since I have a Scarpa foot I love that they came with booster straps and Intuitions. Upgrades which I deem necessary for any of my boots past and present.Drink to remember not to forget!

I just started sniffing around for possible replacements for my Tornado Pros.
Have the Hurricane Pros replaced the Tornado Pros? Any real noteworthy differences/improvements?
If they are generally the same, I'd say that I've satisfied with them as a good tweener option. I do feel like I've tended to be in the back seat more, especially with my Barons. They've been super comfortable and easy on and off. OK touring, but I need the AT soles for better spring hiking ability. I started swapping the soft to stiffer tongues, but tended to just leave on the stiffer tongue.
Do the current AT and vibram soles work with older Tornado Pros?Best regards, Terry

hurricane and tornado pros are very different boots. IMO, the new hurricane pros ski much better.

Thanks. Any idea how the Typhoon compares to the Tornado Pro?
Sole compatibility?
Also sizing, I'm trying match sizes to BSL and haven't found a chart of definitive sizing to BSL. Only indications in the boot other than 6/7 (mondo 26 to 27?) and BSL of 298mm.Best regards, Terry

typhoon is very similar to hurricane, both are better than tornado pro.
typhoon and hurricane soles are identical. Tornado soles should be identical, but I'm not 100% sure of that

Thought so. Thanks again.
At the moment, I'm seeing more redundancies between the Typhoon and Hurricane than substantial differences.
Why have others chosen the Typhoons over the Hurricanes?Best regards, Terry

It's always easier to make a stiffer boot softer.
No longer stuck.
