Thanks for the info. If those lines are good, that might tip me over the edge. It will be a game time decision though.

Gonna be riding Tioga pass this weekend. Hopefully we find some good stuff off Conness - if not we'll be popping into Dana and Ellery bowl. If anyone's out there, give us a holler - I'm on orange BD verdicts.

Possibly a few mammy laps on Saturday and then maybe some farting around up at Tioga on Sunday.

Is the road open to Saddlebag? I was just going to post that question.

I will be in the same area next weekend, so a conditions report would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you are driving through Toulumne, could you take a look at Cathedral for me? That maybe a back up plan if things are melting out too fast.

I dunno about that, mang. We all rode off the Gondi way more than we rode off 23.
(And you seemed to like the smooth stuff off 3 the most, no?)

Dave's was V nice, but a hassle to get to/from (prolly out of play now). The whole Climax face was fine.
Didn't hit 23 at all on Sunday (except to say hi to Rick, then we came down Cornice).

I thought you only came down Wipeout the one time on Sat, helping tini get down?
We tried that smooth line you mention, and each side of the lift (WP 1 & DP 1?). Climax/Dave's was better.

Everything beyond Scotty's has a choc-chip rock band on the drop-in, and would prolly mean hiking over rocks to get to (Roadrunner is closed).
A lot of stuff you could get to in other years is not available this year.

But, hey, if we could get a ride, we'd go!

The road wasn't open as of Monday and the lower 2/3 of Bloody was really good on Tuesday. The top of the chute was a bit firm and chunky but it was blowing 30mph+ up the chute. Conness was really good two weeks ago but I have no current beta for you. Seemed like it had the most snow around the Pass area. Red Slate is looking really good.

Just a heads up. Last weekend there wasn't any coverage heading out to Dana via glacier canyon. There's nothing between Dana and Ellery either. Lots os scrambling.

Owen and Krystal and I are planning to roll over SP tomorrow afternoon/evening. Supper at MoMart, camping in Mammoth. Skiing Mammoth Sat and maybe Sun. Heading home Mon.

I'd like to find someone Krystal can ski with in the backcountry Sunday or Monday between Mammoth and Sonora Pass. I will hang with Owen while she skis. Is there anyone out there I can trust with my wife? She's a good bc partner.
    sorry

FYI for those of us who will still be in Mammoth on Sunday evening. I believe we should be able to see some or all of the annular solar eclipse. Should happen sometime around 6:20-6:30. It looks like it will be better viewing in Reno than in Mammoth, but nonetheless, should be fun to check out - maybe through a few pair of sunglasses or maybe someone has welding goggles?

I can't seem to embed this map in the page, but here's a LINK to a google map showing the limits of where you'll be able to see it. Judging by that, Mammoth may be a bit too far south, but maybe if we drive north a little.

Here's a LINK to the Weather.com page with info.

Looks like The Bridgeport/Bodie area may be a good bet for the eclipse.

Not likely you'll show up at MoMart and not find maggots. Ran into Telemike & family. Throwin Owen had some fun climbing on rocks.

    FKN fun weekend at Mammoth!

Rolled with Sinecure and friends, Joey Bag O', and a couple new friends from home Saturday. Ran into Gone2Alpine and family and ttips' Mitch on the hill, saw Vets buying shades in Footloose (you didn't get the $300 pair did ya?) and a bunch of other assorted freaks. A big "hey y'all!" to the folks who said hi and that they knew Owen from the intertoob. Thanks

    Owen in Cornice Bowl

Krystal scored some new BD stiletto at MMS for half off. Good deals on demo gear right now. Christ did a great job assisting/fitting her. New skis new boots... Girl is getting herself well and properly outfitted.

Went out towards Hawthorn to see eclipse but had to go back towards 395 due to cloud cover. Got some snaps of eclipse projected through binos I'll post later.

    iPhone randomly pointed at eclipse

Skinned for turns with K and O at SP on the way home today. The kid did great and had fun, even though, as he said to his mommy "the skiing isn't very good". We had to explain that we needed to climb a bit (a bunch) higher to get to better snow. But he slashed the slush and crushed the cups like a big guy. We are very lucky he'll hike for turns with us and have such a good time.

he was bit annoyed by the Hoover Maneuvering we had to do to get back to the truck

py unedited video, but here's Throwin' Owen getting in some good turns up on Mammoth.

I had a fun weekend with my friend James and his wife. BigTim graciously let us use his condo, Twins and PattyE made an appearance for a night and one day of skiing. Lots of fun times with Telemike and family (thanks for the yummy bbq). Had a great dinner at Toomey's with OttoParts and ToraToraTora (right name?). Drank too much wine with buffalo meat loaf and elk ribs (delicious). Got good turns with Gone2Alpine, JLA415, G2A's wife, RicD, and assorted other mags. Cleaned the crab cooker. Watched the WRODs shrink. Saw the eclipse through pinhole shadows and welder's glass. Was starting to doze off on drive home so stopped at a small waterfall in Yosemite for a very refreshing dip. All in all, a great end to the lift-served season for me.

Shrinking WROD. This one was closed yesterday. James and his wife (both in their 3rd year skiing - James logged his 133rd day of this season yesterday!)

Buffalo meatloaf (L) and Elk Chop (R) from Toomey's

    Fun with eclipse:

FKNA eh? (non-mag, although honorary mag since he knows who Splat is and familiar with Bro skis)

Went to ski humphrey's couloir on monday. The plan was to hike to the lake, camp for two days and ski everything in sight. But plans changed when 1. I discovered that the food I brought (freeze dried) went bad, maybe because it was 2 years past expiration date? And 2. Skinning up on monday I lost my water bottle, and 3. The east facing snow around 12,500 was wet unconsolidated snow, waiting for some skier to trigger a big old wet slide.
So I skied some lower angle stuff and left.
I would have thought that by now it would have been all corn. I guess another week.all the couloirs are in prime shape. The one left of humphrey has a pretty big bergschrund, I would say bigger than normal. You can start skinning just above the lake.

Arrow BAY AREA MAGS: Looking for a Ride to Mammy for the Closing Weekend. Have U got room?

Posted this in the Tahoe Thread too.

I/We can get the gas, etc., and tini can help with the driving.

I'm flexible but would *like* to go down on Thursday pm, ski Fri/Sat/Sun, and head back on Sunday pm for work on Monday (yup, on MMD). But:
Don't mind heading back on Sunday am to avoid MMD traffic.
Or...I can take MMD off and come back then, if that's what it takes.

Please PM, or call if you have our digits.
