how tall is tall sastrugi? snowforecast is saying 3 inches of snow tonight, but it's 37 degrees. i'm heading up tuesday. hopefully it won't be a nasty mess.

Sunday was nice slush crushin. First day in forever that I didn't get a yard sale in, until the kiss of death hit me as I entered the parking lot. The crux got me a I went head first, tits up, and ended up on the dry pavement next a car bumper. Could have used my GaPer on that... I was thankful I didn't hurt myself or the parked car

    Twas a gnarly line.

Nice they reopened SB for Sunday. Similar to your experience, it was nice where there was sun at about 1030 AM Saturday. They closed it down to Silver Bowl around noon after somebody triggered a wet slab and went for a 300' ride in A-Zone.

there were two releases above A-zone saturday too (or is that what you're referring to?). they looked like ski cut releases of someone cutting over to clark

sorry to hear someone went for a ride and glad they're ok

I'm not gonna say it was a Mag that went for a ride, but I have evidence that points to it.

In any case. Everyone have a great spring season and stay safe. Saturday was my last day. I'm going under the knife this week.

Can't wait to be back on my feet and training for Alaska.

Had a great season and it was a blast meeting a bunch of local Mag's.

Don't know the details. Got off of Cascade at about 12:30, saw that SB-Silver was closed, asked patrol who told me someone went for a ride but wouldn't disclose more.

If it was a Mag, they should check in - would be really interesting to get the story.

Phiber - what are you getting cut?

    i don't think there was a burial
(assumption on my part since we haven't heard more about it and i didn't see any evidence of a digging site in the runout)

right, but i'm just saying that meadows is requiring anybody riding super bowl to have a partner, aren't they? just curious what phiber's evidence is pointing to a mag.

Patrol said no burial, just carried. They didn't know how deep it ripped.

And yes, you need a partner in SB

I know for a fact that someone was proudly wearing a GSA Believe sticker at the top of the Clark headwall when the slide went. And I know that another completely different individual was also there with Grizzlycorn Caylors. And finally, I know that both of those individuals had a safety meeting before the descent. I'll never reveal my sources...

I'm getting lateral compartment releases done on both calves this summer. Basically slicing open my fascia to relive muscle pressure on a nerve there. Hopefully I will be able to ski more than 3 hours a day next season.

i had my gear in the car, but my usual bacon-toting buddy was not there to accompany me. I wonder: did anyone just partner up at the top of cascade?

hopefully they had gopros so we can hear about the safety meeting right before the ride.

speaking of which, if somebody dies in an avalanche, is there ever a toxicology report or autopsy?

Actually not as bad as it sounds because there is no real muscle damage done during the procedure. But stitches need to be left in a little longer to ensure the incision doesn't open back up with as much as the calves flex.

6-10". Kinda looked like enormous shark scales.

Yeah, right around the clark headwall it went from carveable to slurpee sleigh ride.

Each time I have done sb this year I waited for a group going up. Choose wisely though.

There was actually 7 different slides that day. There are two bump lines currently 1 on 2 bowl and 1 about 3.5.

I climber SB last Friday...met a couple people to partner with on the way up... unfortunately they turned around as we got socked in...which was the good call.

I'm thinking tomorrow might be an interesting lift served day...anyone going up?

Hey hood mags. I am planning to be at meadows tomorrow morn and was hoping to hook up with a local. I'll try to check email tonight, but if I fail secondary plan will be to be at the top of the highest lift @ 1130 & 1:30 (+/- 10 min). I'll be in a red NF jacket, black NF pants and a blue helmet. Love to buy you some beer to show me your mtn. cheers, gary.

Just though I'd drop this in here. Free skiing at the ski bowl for military, police, fire, and medical.
