i'm reliable and punctual, but somewhat of an antisocial asshole "gaper," which i will assume is the reason i've never met any of you.

i'm going friday am, but am going to ride until my legs fall off, so i probably won't be coming back by 3.

night skiing at meadows ends april 1. that blows. i don't care about night skiing itself, i just like having the option of not quitting at 4.

oh come on. 85% of long-time meadows' passholders love to hear why people hate it.

Blew up my knee last year in a management situation on Mt. Rainier. Fell 10 feet into a creek early season. Fortunately it was only my MCL. A year and half later it just started feeling right.

i tore everything but a tiny strand of my mcl playing soccer and it was at least a year and a half before it started feeling right and i rehabbed like a freak. snowboarding didn't bother it a bit after 6 months, fortunately, but i doubt i would have skied on it, not knowing anything about skiing of course.

ok, now this is getting weird...

Mt Baker (inbounds), snagged by an under-the-pow tree branch, twisting fall to tumble off 20 ft cliff to flat, fortunately it was only my MCL. Eight weeks later it still isn't feeling right.

The biggest problem with Meadozz is that they cannot open up their terrain when condition is prime. What good is 25 inches when you can’t ski them? Yes, two-turn PR was open but why wasn’t JW? They are essentially the exact same slopes. There is no reason why Meadows cannot open up the slopes from Absolute Magnitude down. It’s either the head patrol at Meadows calling the shot needs retraining (at Crystal or Baker for example) or the management needs to hire more patrols to do the fucking job that needs to be done …quickly and on-time.

You sound like you have little to no knowledge of what it takes to open some of that terrain. If they don't open it there is a damn good reason for it. Your argument of they're "essentially the exact same" might be true, but have you ever thought that area might get loaded a bit differently then PR? Guess you didn't have the privilege of seeing A-mag breaking a 6ft natural crown this year did you? There is someone with years more experience making the call on if all those areas should open or not.

I overheard that they had trouble getting a cat to clear the loading path into the heather chair due to depth & that they were worried about the slope sliding down on the chair loading area

Not confirmed primary sources, just overheard

For my part, I saw many sluffs propagating along 35 on the drive in and I saw shooting cracks and sluffs in minor slopes on the hill - nothing dangerous. But the evidence was not subtle

Be careful all! Everything steep slid and low angle tree runs cracked like shattered glass with each turn This new snow didn't bond with the rain layer. It's light until it moves. I had sluff behind me all day.

35 slide, nothing serious but a good reminder of whats out there.

Ski Bowl was unbelievably deep, drifts to 4' at least. Glad ski patrol got it open after 2 decent sized slides by bombs and 1 patrol caused slide/heavy slough. Ski Bowl>Meadows

With finals out of the way it is time for some skiing. I'll be at skibowl thursday on older JJ's, brown jacket, and black helmet with on3p stickers. My brother and I are always geeked to show off our favorite stashes.

I think that happened around 12:30? I left the HRM lot and was going to take 26 back until I saw the hazard lights and stopped cars at that point, flipped a U-e and headed through HR back to PDX. I'm not suprised that area slid, it always looked ominous to me, short hill, but steep and on the road.

Benk - back from Canada already??????

If you've seen the slides in HC the last two years you would know why nothing above the Heather chair gets opened on questionable days. Yesterday was highly questionable with how the new snow was reacting. It's not throw a bomb here and there and hope for the best. There's an entire mountain above HC that has proven to go large and would bury you 20' deep as you are on the cat track trying to reach the chair at 6mph. I think the patrol did a fantastic job yesterday opening everything they did, extremely tough job yesterday with the snow pack to get PR down open. 90% of God's Wall slid, that take more than one bomb to do.

I am back to bitter about those on the mountain while I am not. Had clearance from the boss to go this morning. The school late start killed my plans, need to take the little one in late...

    Bitter, very bitter!!!!!!!!!!

I know, short trip. We got a bad rain crust up to 6k, cat skiing was really good but not so much at the resorts. And with the conditions back home being the way they are we decided to head home. Seems like Jan/Feb is the better time to be up there
