Oh please oh please oh please let Ullr deliver as much as NOAA is expecting this weekend. 24"+ for Fri/Sat right now. If it dumps, Baldy will likely open.

Anyone heading up for the Mammoth opener? Bbq in Main Lot around 12:30 Thursday afternoon/silver Chevy with a white shell. Also 45hill is having a bonfire at his bar Wednesday night http://forums.mammothmountain.com/vi...p?f=14&t=11767.
Looking like a fun kickoff to the season.

Assuming Baldy gets some snow this weekend (as usual a big IF), how well do they usually have their opening act together? Open soon as it snows, or they need a week or two to hire seasonal employees/clean rat nests out of the lift motors/etc?

Iffy right now still, but they've already announced they are opening the mellow stuff (chairs 1 and 2 only is my guess) I thought about driving up to mammoth, but it still looks like they are getting skunked by this storm, and it's all coming this way. Honestly if the predictions hold true (10-16" fri night, 7-11" Sat) they might as well spin chair 3 Sat afternoon or Sun.

As we all know, it's always hit or miss down here. I'm getting some turns in this weekend regardless.

Storm is warming up and tracking more west...a little wet snow if we're lucky, rain on the snow from last weekend if we're not.

Well, it was worth the drive just to get first turns on St. Anton and Gremlin's Gulch untracked. Sorry the POV is mostly boring, but for first turns of the season this guy ain't complaining. (Dodged a bullet sticking around SoCal too, got skunked again down here )

PSA: Groupon currently has a Mt. Waterman deal that's worth a damn: http://www.groupon.com/deals/mt-wate...rce=uu20831424
I've never been there and have a Baldy pass, but at that price I'll be checking it out.

    $25 for a lift ticket
    or
$60 for two lift tickets (can be used at the same time or separately on two different days) and two $16 credits for the cafeteria.

(BTW, if you're new to Groupon & sign up using the above link they'll give me a couple bucks credit toward my next purchase. If you don't want me to get any credit, cut off the link at the question mark.)

I'm looking for info on touring in the Sierra National Forest, but it's a little hard to come by. Anyone know of a good place to find more info or perhaps a good TR to look at?

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

"...IF THE COLD CORE OF THE LOW DROPS OVER US ON THU THROUGH FRI
THERE WILL BE A CHANCE FOR SHOWERS OF RAIN AND SNOW...AND EVEN A FEW
THUNDERSTORMS AS THE ATMOSPHERE BECOMES INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE. SNOW
COULD FALL AS LOW AS 4500 FEET WITH SOME SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS
POSSIBLE ABOVE 5000 FT. POPS HAVE BEEN RAISED THU AND FRI."
    What, what!
looks like we may get a good dumping, it’s about fucking time, I was hiking instead of riding today. I can do that shit in the summer...

I guess it's both? I always considered Mammoth part of SoCal too.
