Thread: 2010/2011 Dynastar LPR 115 Mounting point

Hi,

I just picked up a pair of LPR 115 and find the suggested mounting point really far back on the ski. I searched the forum and found a comment about Dynastar sending out memos to shops for adjusted mounting points.

Does anyone have any recommendation if I should go forward and if so how far?

Mine work really well mounted on center. What makes you think Dynastar got it wrong the first time?

I read a ski test where the tester said that the ski would probably benefit from a more progressive mount. And like I said in my post, someone posted here on TGR saying that Dynastar had sent out a memo to ski shops with a revised recommended mounting point.

Anyone got any more info?

If you mount them on center and feel like they are sluggish, wait until there's another foot of snow. Or go 20 mph faster. Or get the LPR 105.

Greg, do you know if the mounting point is the same on the 2010/2011 and the 2011/2012?

Sorry, I haven't seen the 2011/2012 version. All I'm saying is that if a tester skied the LPR 115 in a sequence with a group of other ~115 wide skis, most of which had no camber/more rocker, it might seem unresponsive to turn input at lower speeds or in tight situations. It isn't a "playful" ski that you can throw sideways in a hurry, but it does shine at high speed in open terrain.

Just got a pair of 2011 Dynastar Legend Pro Riders 175cm mounted. The bindings are crazy far back towards the tail?

My shop put my boot center on the little raised bar on the top of the Dynastar ski.

I skiied them one day so far, they feel far back.

My boot centre measures 69cm from the tail on the 175cm. That means there is approx. 106cm from the boot centre to the tip on my ski.

I have read other posts here where the sweet spot for a 184 LP is approx. 79.5 - 80.5 cm from the tail to the boot centre. So if a 184 is say 80 cm from the tail to the boot center that would put approx. 104 cm in front from boot centre to the ski tip?

So why the heck would my 175's be mounted so that I have more ski length in front of my boot center (ie 106cm from boot center to tip) than the 184 referred to in the other post (ie 104cm from boot center to tip).

On a relative basis I would think my boot center should be approx. 75cm from the tail, not 69cm?

ie if a 80cm/184cm = 43.5% Then 43.5% x 175cm = approx. 75cm.

And that would put approx. 100cm from my boot center to the tip on the 175 which seems more reasonable.

What also looks weird is that the bindings are not "centered" on the pattern on the ski (there is a center line on the ski at each end of the "binding mount area" that gets wider), my bindings are way towards the tail, and not centered in this pattern.

I will post a pic tomorrow but you have to promise not to laugh!

The black lines across the ski is some electrical tape for reference. The new thin black line in the center is going to be my new boot center.

Was skiing at Baker at today. Saw a guy skiing the same ski and he was putting it on the ski rack. Ran to my truck to grab a tape measure. He was 75.5 cm from the tail to the center of his boot. The weird thing, his "little raised dash" on his Dynastar ski is 5.5cm in front of where the dash is located on mine. So Dynastar messed up at some point?

Anyway, I will move my boot center forward 6cm.

Wow, that's a massive difference on a 175cm ski! What was the consensus on the 184? Fondled it in the shop this wknd and I really like the smooth even flex.

^I dont know about that - Mine are 184's and the line/bump is 74cm straight pull from the tip of the tail. Sure he didnt have 184's? Granted, I have not skied them - just for reference. 2011/12's

Ya, I am still confused as hell. I think the issue was with the 2011 LPR? I had read previously that the boot centre on the 184 LPRs was approx. 79 - 80cm from the tail (for the 184 2011s). And that the boot centre on the 175s should be approx. 74 - 75? Check out my pic ....the mount was really far back? Looks ridonkulous????? But who knows, maybe that is where they should be.

Anyway, life's to short to be wondering WTF is the correct mount point on my skis. I ended up selling them (at a loss) just to be done with them. Bought some LibTech freerides and mounted them with Schizos. Spent the day skiing, moved my boot center around a fair bit and my favorite spot turned out to be right on the "sweet spot" ID'd by Lib on the ski. Go figure. Kind of bummed me out towards Dynastar though.

The 184 10/11 measures 74cm from the raised bar to the tail in straight line.
Would really like to see if the 11/12 is the same..?
Just got a pair which I will mount rottefella r8 (telemark) and I think I will mount at least 2cm forward. Normally I go 1,5-2cm back on other skis.

Just to revive an old thread and as a reminder to always measure and research before selecting your mounting position.....I was on ebay and found this pic of some Dynastar LPs 115s....looks like the same issue I had with mine which I sold.

That mount looks so far back!
