And again, MPPG, I beg to differ. It will be located equidistant between Canyons base and PCMR base. In that respect, it's perfectly located. And what if you do link PCMR to Brighton? A flat ski area to a flat ski area. BFD. And then it may take a Canyons skier 1.5 hours to reach the interconnect. It was a major problem before, but now it's not? Jeez. Whatever goes in train-tunnel-"beam me aboard Scotty" kind of shit, whatever, -is going to piss a certain percentage of the population off. Did I say they should just build the thing already? ;-)

oh i think most think its inevitable, i'll go ahead and quote myself from an earlier page in this thread.
exactly.... also the fact that talisker already owns land that would allow them to connect PCMR to brighton that is already developed; i.e. there is a road, houses, powerlines, why give them more land?
yea because if an interconnect does happen, canyons skiers won't be able to ride PCMR lifts??? that kinda defeats the purpose of an interconnect dontcha think??
or are you going to get your depends in a bunch when you have to drive your car or catch a ten minute bus ride from your townhouse at the base of the can into park city???
also when did the canyons get steeper than PCMR??? can you make a video where you disprove my theory that PCMR and the can are equally flat

As I stated in the other thread, your assumptions only make you appear to be an angry, dumb jackass. But you're anonymous, so it doesn't count, right?
My townhouse? Really?! I don't live in a townhouse. You have said that I live in The Colony as well, and nope, wrong there too. In fact you don't believe anything that I say. The problem is, it is all coming to fruition, isn't it?
Hey, I'm all for assertive banter, but you continuously talk out of your asshole.
Let me spell it out in clearer terms for you: Can-Soli=Flat-Steep. PCMR-Brighton=Flat-Flat. Do you need a film to explain that to you? Did you not understand the concept in my video?
! Do I need to be using three question marks like you do, so this all makes sense???

what was the concept of your video? oh, that it takes just as long to ski to the supposed base of skilink as it would be to drive from PC to solitude, or were you trying to disprove straightchuter's video by going out on a sunny day with no new snow or high winds so all the lifts would be opened; whereas, his video shows how long it would take when on a day with new snow, high winds or both. so yea, either way skilink will take longer than driving which means most are probably going to drive to the resort they want to spend the most time......
the only thing your video proved is how much of a barney you are.
also, you failed to answer my question about how a gondola running for up to 8 hours a day on coal power (over 95% of utah's power comes from coal) is more environmentally friendly than the ~20 or so people that will drive from PC to solitude on any given day???? ( i put four question marks cause you seem to fancy that
)
p.s. are you offended that i said you live in a townhouse??? you sure seem to take a lot offense to that

re-posting this
ALSO, since the original skilink bill is just about dead; it's worth noting that SOC is reporting that Rep. Jason Chaffetz is re-introducting legislation to facilitate SkiLink. "Rumor has it the sale of the land will be replaced by leasing the land." -SOC.
Pretty much won't change anything except the US gov't won't get as screwed in the deal, it still means development, still bypasses the public and USFS process. its still selling public lands to private enterprise. I'm glad Rep Chaffetz is taking on such an important issue considering the other problems at hand in the US. here's his office phone number (202) 225-7751, if you feel so inclined to give him a call.

Perfect, now they can interconnect on a road that already exists and not have to develop a lift through an undeveloped canyon. If they agree to that I can stop making phone calls and get the stupid sign out of my yard.
One good thing that has come out of this is the public hatred towards Talisker. One of their employees was on a lift with me and said "We used to just wear our canyons gear when we came to ski here, but now people will chase us down the runs to yell at us."
Three years ago I could care less about who owned the Canyons. My only dealings with the Ogusthorpe's, etc., were that they had nice kids in some of my kids classes, and an appreciation for the dedication of the white barn property. The Talisker developments on Empire were just another tax base in my mind, and I didn't care that they were quitely buying up the basin behind Deer Valley and PCMR. They were just another developer in the long line of developers that make this little town exists. Now, because of this one ill concieved lift being forced down our throats I have a new hobby.
I wish they could do away with this stupid idea so I could go back to my state of ignorance and focus the time I have to put into this on riding bikes and boards. Hell, I could even go back to enjoying some of the amenities of their resort.

I understand why "The Colony" (sounds like a Stephen King book) would want the skiLink. I can't imagine many people driving to the Cabriolet lift and then taking 5 lifts and (45ish minutes) to get to the skiLink. If the skiLink extended down to a public parking lot in the valley and was free/cheap to ride it might have some use.

[QUOTE=itsnowjoke;3944124] I've also stated sub-45 minute laps to Skilink base as well, but you and many others thought that I was FOS on that as well. /QUOTE]After some time absorbing your argument from yesterday. You made a video showing it takes 43 minutes to get to the base of this lift. This counters the video claiming 60+ minutes to do the same. I would argue you just hurt the idea of this lift as well. If I want to ski solitude, the drive is easier than the fiasco of parking at the canyons and going through the nightmare of access from this side.
When pre talisker, I made a choice to change resorts, I did it based on the fact that it took too long to get my very young kids on and off slope at their resort. People hear of the lifts and think, cool, that much skiable acreage right of of one stop. They will ride up to and across that lift one time, and never again. It is a one time novelty that is not a viable solution for anything it was sold as. (in my opinion)

Most everything you say is promotional BS.
BTW, I love how well your video turned out. 44 minutes on the most ideal day imaginable. How about doing one on the weekend after a snow storm....just for comparisons. It will be when most people would be using this abomination.
Death to SkiLink!Johnny's only sin was dispair

Are you guys arguing whether it's 43 minutes + the skilink or 60 minutes+ the skiink. Both suck. If skilink started at the bottom of the valley the process would be pretty fast.
Will the Canyons open all 5 of the lifts an hour earlier so I can get to Solitude when it opens? If not, I'll get to Solitude an hour late.
If this silly thing actually were to reduce a large number of car trips to BCC then they would need to build a second cabriolet lift and add more parking to accommodate all of those people. They would also need to upgrade all of the other intermediate lifts or the 43 minute no lift line time wouldn't be achievable. I suspect it isn't going to save that many trips and pollution argument is BS.
Have they made a statement about what it will cost to ride this thing? Will I need 2 lift tickets?

Hey d-bag - here's something for you to think about: maybe (just maybe) not everybody here has their little panties in a wad 24/7 and flies into a rage whenever somebody disagrees with them. Maybe these same mags don't take this place uber-seriously. Maybe this even includes the vast majority of the people who post here as opposed to you and like 20 other thin-skinned douchebags. Just something to think about. -JER

From Park Record: Sen. Mike Lee is scheduled to send his mobile office to Summit County on Wednesday, something that affords people the opportunity to speak to one of the Republican senator's staffers about a variety of issues.
The mobile office, essentially one of the senator's staffers, plans to make two stops in the county. From 10 a.m. until noon, it is scheduled to be in Conference Room #1 at the County Courthouse in Coalville. Later, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., the mobile office will set up in the East Conference Room at the Marsac Building.
.... will take notes and share the comments with Lee and other staffers.
Parkites in the last year, including during the congressional campaign, have shown interest in numerous federal issues like the economy and immigration. Many have been especially following the SkiLink proposal, which would connect Canyons Resort and Solitude Mountain Resort. The connection hinges on the sale of federal land to Talisker Corp. Lee is one of the sponsors of the legislation that would authorize the sale.
