That place consistently has one of the deeper seasonal snowpacks in the country - foreground is 8K feet, background is 10K feet.

But the few places that DO have snow, look like this

I was a bit like your buddy last week. However, I saw many sob stories on here from our brothers south of here. I decided screw it, I am going to go make turns. Went both Saturday and Sunday and had a GREAT time. (Sunday night was hard as a rock...) Making turns on ice is better than not making turns at all!!!

That said...I am off to do a dance.

I had a fun Gilligan's Island tour de fog on Sunday with a big crew that included a moonlight serenade. Still some good snow out there if you can find the right aspect.

ON3P will be at Bachelor on Saturday (17th) and Meadows on Sunday (18th) running demos if anyone wants to try out some skis.
Seriously, this can’t turn into yet another ON3P thread....

    From NWAC

"The middle of December and the outlook is grim--
La Nina or not, our snowpack is slim.
The ridge in the Gulf refuses to give--
Allowing only weak storms thru its high pressure sieve.

Meanwhile the snowpack dwindles, as it weakens some more--
Leaving the door open for more facets and hoar.
Maybe a sleigh and reindeer will help change the flow--
And knock down the ridge to let the westerlies go.

Up on the ridges, it's warm and sunny--
But down in the valleys, noses are cold and runny.
Ho Ho Ho, what do you know--
A weak storm late Wednesday with minor new snow.

I love it when the NWAC guys get bored and start writing poems.

BTW, awesome shots samthaman! I'm pretty new to photography, but what length of exposures are we talking here?

Thanks, they weremostly 30s exposures, but only to allow the skiers time to move through the frame. With that much light it's possible to properly expose the photos at much faster shutter speeds.

I think the lack of new snow is making me crazy, for some reason we thought this would go and be a lot of fun.

There is still good snow to be found out there, think low and protected.

Aside from a few inches tonight, not looking great short to mid-term, although better than the absolute nothing we have had for over two weeks now:

    http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_foreca...AFDPQR&wfo=PQR

.LONG TERM...BENIGN WEATHER PATTERN CONTINUES FOR THE WEEKEND INTO
NEXT WEEK...WITH OVERALL BLOCKING HIGH PERSISTING OVER THE NE PAC.
HOWEVER...RIDGE DOES FLATTEN A BIT ON SUN AND MON WITH WEAK SYSTEMS
PASSING FROM GULF OF ALASKA INTO THE PAC NW. NOT STRONG...BUT CAN NOT
ELIMINATE THREAT OF PRECIP AT THIS TIME. ONE THING TO WATCH IS THE
POTENTIAL FOR MORE AIR STAGNATION ADVISORIES IF THE RIDGE IS STRONGER
THAN ANTICIPATED. APPEARS NEXT STRONG THREAT OF RAIN NOT LIKELY UNTIL
    LATER NEXT WEEK. ROCKEY.

Way too much like last Jan if you ask me. Which, Bachelor only received 26" during that entire month. Somehow still broke their all-time snow record they say for the year tho. Hopefully that's something to hope for again. But as of now this no-show-snow blows.

ON3P & Lib Tech skis have demos on Saturday up at Bachy too if anyone is interested. Get there early for the groomers....
