Mission picked up 1.6" of precip out of the storm, however the winds topped out at almost 80 mph. Went up yesterday (closed Tues/Wed) to see what was left. Some areas totally scoured to ice, lots of wind crust and some protected areas holding well over a foot. Should be a mixed bag of shit-show up there tomorrow

Baker's website reports the road is closed from Glacier so the DOT can clear trees and debris from it with their 7:09am report. The WSDOT report at 7:37am just says chains required except 4 wheel drive. So, which is it? Must make phone calls.

Crustal was sweet; I'd give it a (***)/(****) on the snowflake scale. Missed the Northway rope drop, but got some really great time deep in the whiteroom earlier. 6 skied great @ 1:00 in the afternoon!

Both DOT and Baker report road still closed. Looks like my second ski day is done. I hate to waste a vacation day, guess I'll salvage a few hours and go back to work this afternoon.

Was so nice to have some company on a pow day...and it was DEEP. Played on lots of lines at Stevens that I haven't in a while. Was also treated to a stoepstyle guided tour of secret stashes and gnar-gnar bowl entrances...could be a lucrative business opportunity in the making - guided PNW tours with ON3P crew members.

And finally...auvgeek...how the hell do you ski so fast!?!

Defintely looking forward to future adventures with the TGR-Stevens crew.

I should have figured something was up when a stream of cars was heading the wrong way on the HWY this am.

    From Baker's site:

The amazing amount of new snow this past week has resulted in such a huge snow load on the trees along the Mt. Baker Highway from Glacier on up, that the snow loads are pulling weak trees down and unloading large amounts of snow and debris on the road.

The Washington State DOT crew has CLOSED the Mt. Baker Highway from Glacier on up to the ski area this morning while they clear fallen trees, perform other road safety work, and wait for this condition to stabilize a bit more. With continued snowfall today and then a warm up forecasted for this afternoon, it looks like the road will be closed today only until conditions stabilize.

We will be updating this report every few hours today and through the evening as the situation on the highway evolves with the changing weather.

I am thoroughly stoked for this break day. This storm cycle has been retarded and my legs are fried. Aired into harry chute, then took it from the tip top, then gunsights as the first 3 runs of the day was a fucking great way to start off a superb bell to bell day.

Any word on the person who sliced their throat? I saw a patrol kneeling on the toboggan as they evacced the person. Hopefully everything was alright, there was a lot of blood that they were quick to shovel over.

I'd be willing to donate maybe a foot or two to Tahoe and Mammouth, what do you think?

I feel your pain, guess we should have gotten our asses out of bed earlier. And lest there be confusion I might add those said beds are in different parts of town. Yup.
So instead of doing anything useful I'm watching videos of the Sex Pistols in San Francisco on Wolfgang's Vault. It was near their chaotic demise.

Damn, glad I didn't try to head up to Baker today.

Really wish it wasn't gonna warm up tomorrow.

I hope so...After I saw you last, Powder Bowl thawed to perfection and I spent the rest of the day there lapping it up.

He is doing good, thankfully. In the ICU should be out by tomorrow. Condition is listed as stable. Apparently he was riding towards Harry Scary and either went to duck under the rope and got snagged or someone fell on the rope as he was riding by, bamboo was snapped off and somehow ended up in his neck. He rode down a ways before realizing he was bleeding profusely...

Another local hit a tree and was found my patrol 45 minutes later unconscious. Have not heard any news on his status.

It's getting wild at Baker, very deep. I managed to swim in a good slide coming out of the diagonals few days back. Had enough time to think fuck I really hope my beacon is on

Kendall trees was the right call today. Snowing lightly when we arrived but by the time we got to the meadows it was absolutely puking. Really strong, gusty winds, crap visibility and evidence of wind slabs in the meadows too so we stayed down in the trees where there was hardly a breath of wind, great visibility, and two feet of more of sweet pow with the top foot being super light and fluffy. It was snowing so hard that by the time we got back to the bottom there was 2" of snow in the skin track. The luge-run out along the Commonwealth trail was the most fun I've ever had going down that trail. Usually it's an icy, busy pain in the ass. Today it was completely deserted with a couple feet of pow on it. Hard to believe that we were the only two people up there today.

Someone in red pickup called out to us as we were taking off our skis under the freeway. Anyone here resemble that remark?

Trying to decide whether I should ski tomorrow and Saturday or Friday and Sunday. So what's the consensus - tomorrow gonna be decent anywhere or will it be skiing in the rain?

    EDIT:

You too, dude. Hit me up if you don't mind shredding with a guy in a goofy fullface.

According to the forecasts, tomorrow is going to be the warmest day of the week. I'd go the Friday/Sunday route if that's your choice. Supposed to cool down again Friday with another front coming through.
