There comes a time when one must admit that despite the best intentions one's photo or video just did not come out and you should junk it. My condolences.

    Yup, sorry dude.

When I used a GoPro, I would take video the night before at home to see if the angle was right. Harder to do now that I use a goggle mount for the Contour (which changes every angles time you take it off), but I have a feeling the goggle mount won't rip off quite as easily when I'm "McGoverning."

Not sure if this is the right thread for it, but it seemed like the closest I could find with some searching... Has anyone completed/seen any recent beta on Baker Summits? Baker is on my crew's list to complete as a ski descent, and we're just starting to build a more detailed plan, with the intent to bang it off as a 1 day trip in late April if conditions permit (weekend warrior status kinda limits our windows).

Mainly looking for info on conditions this season. Provisionally we're thinking of an ascent by the Coleman Deming route and any beta on somewhat current conditions would be appreciated. That having been said, winter/early spring TRs seem to be few and far between, so I'd take any pointers I could get...

Someone here will have an answer but Turns All Year might be a better source for info.

LOST SKI: Posting for a friend of mine. PM me if you have anything.

"I lost a ski off the ridge of Mt Herman, above Bagley Creek in the Baker backcountry, Sunday 4/1. It ended up buried out in the open, somewhere between a couple turns below the entry chute off the end of the ridge, skier's right of widowmaker, skier's left of cornice gulley, and the second depression below the chute. About here: http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=48...p=0&sz=15&z=15

The ski is a 186cm Volkl Nunataq w/dynafit binding.

Anybody finds it, please contact me. Beers, karma, and possibly cash for its retrieval and return."

last I heard the road was still snow covered for the last five miles coming from thenorth (glacier creek road), and the south side is undoubtedly still in used by the snowmobile crowd. Personally, I'd wait a while until the snow melts up to the trailhead, or plan on doing it in two days. As it is, I believe you're looking at ~2000 feet of climbing on top of the usual amount.

If you're there to ski the mountain, consider the south side. Its a more consistent grade for skinning and the runs are fall-line the entire way.

A customer of mine who snowmobiles up there at a place called Bear Claw? told me the road was washed out really bad. I assumed it was at the usual spot where it runs along the creek for a couple hundred yards.

WTF. Nice convective showers yesterday afternoon and evening left 3-4" and then a embedded vort max over Crescent Bar left another 6" on top of that this morning making for one of the top 5 days of the year at Mission. 8-10" of blower over a carvable base was great. Races cancelled due to too much snow, oh well.

Jim Hill delivered again. Skinning up shit (various crusts) to the ridge had me very concerned, but the NE bowl held sweet sweet pow to the bottom of the bowl. The ski out (via Lanham) was pretty good as the sun softening everything. Hat's off to the party that skied lines in the NW bowl from the summit ridge. Looked f'ing awesome to those of us stuck meadow skipping in the next drainage.

Hard to say if it will hold for tomorrow.
