Chainsaw - good to hear about Kendall. I was thinking of heading there but ended up skiing alpy/elevator gate, glad to hear it treated you well.
ACH- good seeing you out there today, pretty nice day. we ended with a run down heavenly trees --ooooh man.
alpentalcorey - nice meeting you.
everyone else - another great storm cycle, let mother nature do her thing and we'll be back at again soon.

Yeah, I definitely saw that. Was kinda hoping that tomorrow morning would be decent like yesterday and the warm front wouldn't move in until later...
Guess I'll skip tomorrow and do either Friday/Sunday or maybe just Saturday/Monday and see how the rest of the week plays out.

Btw everyone, I'm looking for partners! Particularly midweek when the snows fallin'. I'm a pretty decent skier - rarely hold people up. I generally don't like going up alone with the way I ski, and finding midweek partners is an issue now that my brother is in Montana and my friends all have regular jobs. I implore anyone who rips to send me a PM if you're looking to head up midweek or weekend. Down for lift-served or touring (though I'm no rando racer), even sled skiing (have a sled, still learning the ropes). I do have a regular job, but my boss is being super lenient cause work is a little slow at the moment. If there's over 10" fresh, I'm probably ready to go. Hey thanks, buddy. Was a little bummed Baker didn't work out the other day, but then I managed to meet up with Bandit Man, and we had an excellent time at Stevens.

Auvgeek- I work up at Stevens and ski there almost every day. Orange jacket and teal pants on either movement trusts or praxis powder boards. Ask if I'm training for AK. See you in the liftline.

Sweet deal dude. This whole training for Alaska thing is becoming a great way to find mags for those of us behind the "change" generation.
Apologies to others for getting this thread off topic. From NWAC:
extended forecast models indicate another deep upper low should engulf the Gulf of Alaska on Tuesday...with another batch of strong late winter storms circulating out of this low and over the region at relatively low freezing levels starting mid-late Tuesday.

Alpental Patrol created it with their lax and inconsistent policies over the years where sometimes the card is required and sometimes not.
I've been stopped by those boneheads at the gates and while I was digging out my bc card (circa 1983), they waved a group of people through who didn't have the fucking card. And I had gear and was beeping, that pod did not have shovels or probes.Merde De Glace

No doubt. Standing a patroller at the gates (and checking consistently. I've been in the same boat as BH before
) would perhaps be best. Yeah, it would annoy those of us used to breezing through the gates and slow things down even more on a busy day, but at least it would be somewhat fair and predictable.
Then again, we could just skin more...
. Full-on hurricane in Seattle right now, BTW.

Crossing my fingers.... telemetry shows it's still snowing just about everywhere but temps are getting dangerously high.
Looking like Baker this weekend for me....Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain...

Super deep and wet up at Stevens. Still snowing. Small natural slides happening inbounds, shooting cracks propogating off any steep rolls. Scary stuff. Snowpack is upside-down.

From the NW Avalanche Center twitter feed:
Massive slide off Shuksan Arm east of Mt Baker ski area early Thurs takes out 2' dia. timber w/ debris to lower run. Ski area was closed.

More::
"A very large slide on Shuksan Arm just east of the Mt Baker Ski Area ran into Rumble Gulley mid-morning and overran the tree line buffer protecting the base of the Shuksan Arm Chair...depositing debris into the lower part of the run. This slide is reported as the largest ever witnessed in the area by the General Manager...who has been there for over 40 years and who is closing the area to prevent any accidents involving "sidecountry" exposure to the developing extreme danger. Due to very poor visibility, no estimates of the fracture depth are yet available."
