"ANTICIPATE THE COLD OR OCCLUDED FRONT TO QUICKLY SWEEP ACROSS THE
CWA WED NIGHT...WITH SNOW LEVELS PLUMMETING TO NEAR 2500 FEET BEHIND
IT. OROGRAPHIC ENHANCEMENT IS EXPECTED TO RESULT IN HEAVY PRECIP ON
THE SW FACING SLOPES OF THE OLYMPICS AND CASCADES. THUS PLACES SUCH
AS PARADISE WILL LIKELY RECEIVE QUITE A BIT OF SNOW /POSSIBLY NEAR A
FOOT/ BY THE TIME THE PRECIP WINDS DOWN. THE LOWER CASCADE PASSES
SUCH AS STEVENS AND SNOQUALMIE PASSES SHOULD NOT RECEIVE MUCH SNOW
UNDER THIS TYPE OF FLOW PATTERN. "

Need some help here guys/gals, well at least some insight. Last year I worked up at Baker so it was a much easier choice... duh. I got the money right now but am unsure what to. Do I get a pass? or do Spend a little upgrading my BC setup and buy a day pass when I have off work and its snowing hard so BC would be out of the question. My past experience has been in Bozeman so the hill was 20 minutes away so no brainer to have a pass. Now the hill is farther away I live in B-ham and work in Burlington. Working 5 days a week though I could probably get some days of for snow as we slow down in the winter. $750 is big chunk of change...
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Baker area is the perfect place to not buy a pass. I think the only question would be if you'd rather spend your season inbounds or out.

Hey rocker6666, I'll be sure to do that. Thanks for the advice in advance next time! In fact, I'm sure you give that kind of armchair guidance to everyone you know. Keep up the good work !

This is the most frustrating part of the season in many ways: Just barely enough snow to cover rocks on even the best-groomed resort slope, and full-on winter whiteout/milk bottle/surprise wind features on the glaciers. But, with "snow" on the news you get your balls busted: "So you're the genius who skis in September, but now it's November and snowing and you're trail running/getting boots punched/drinking?"

Hoping for a window to ski into between the fronts over the next week.

    That forecast is very exciting.

Has anybody been up to baker recently? I know there was some snow this past weekend. Will a few more inches make it rideable?

Because (weather) windows are more transparent than clouds

Actually it's beginning to piss me off. I was excited but seems like with each forecast run it's getting dryer, more norther and lamer. I had a boner for it at the weekend now only a semi.

Jason does some of the most badass mountaineering, climbing, and photography in the northwest. I'd love to have one of his photos on my wall.

If you're not a complete moron and have ever been skiing on Rainier, especially in November, you'd know that the weather can change so quickly. Predicting cloud ceiling levels is even more impossible.
