    Anyone see this? Not bad.
I've seen the movie. I've visited the mountain and scouted lines on it last September. I plan to ski it next summer (Hopefully with LD as part of our crew). Its an absolutely amazing volcano and the entire greater Coyhaique area is unreal and has a lot of untapped skiing. Too bad the Chilean government is planning on building 5 dams down there...

Glad your weekend went well, was a fun time skiing and hanging, for sure. I am thinking about a CC trip next winter, we'll see.

"The ball you got rolling" was after the spam jestering I said to myself,"Get your shit together and go skiing with your friends" Best advice I have received all month.

No worries J, I may have come down with enough warning. I was working 50-60 hours a week all winter and had little time to play this winter. I have not been doing much the last few weeks other than planning for my next job and working on a new business I am starting later this summer.

Maybe they will market Burke as the classic getaway from the huge resort scene at Jay?

Wow, I'm behind the eight ball on this one.

they could definitely benefit from the marketing team at Jay..

i would guess 90% of snow-sliding montrealers have been to jay or at least heard of it. I bet 10% have heard of Burke

Crazy news. I think this is a win for everyone. Get a Jay pass, go ski Burke Holiday weeks when it's crowded. More services and traffic for Burke which could use it. Fire lit under the rest of industry's ass to provide more services and keep the prices down. The waterpark scares me but the Jay formula still works for "hardcore skiers". Jay keeps the prices down and provides services and a long season. There isn't much to complain about there.

This news might suck for 4 of the 13 people that currently ski/ or particularly live near Burke, but I bet they have a more nuanced view than worrying about their favorite stash. The development of the bowl / condos / snowmaking have been on the table for awhile. With the Jay group I would think there's a lot less of a worry of an Ascutney style nelsap village at the bottom than some out of state group that didn't necessarily know what they were doing there to begin with.

I'm really hoping for the best for everyone in this transaction and doubt that Stegner is going in there because he sees a beautiful mountain that he can turn into Disneyland. We'll see.
.....I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record

Maybe, but you also have to remember the extra drive between Jay and Burke for Montrealers.

Once you factor the time it takes to get to Burke from Montreal...you get a few other NE majors that are close or faster to get to than Burke: Whiteface NY, Smuggs, Stowe, Sugarbush and MRG VT. That's pretty steep competition, let alone the closer skiing on the Quebec side of the border.

For my case (lived in MTL until I was 29), I skied Burke on one trip only (too much to choose from). We had our the UdeM ski team training camp at Burke back in 89(?). Fighting and playing elbows in the poma liftline with the Burke Ski Academy. Its was pretty funny to which extend some of us (on both sides) would go not to let the others through.

JPR's spin on it, from the 242 Newsletter:

    Greetings Jay Peakers

We wanted you to be among the first to know – Our president Bill Stenger and longtime business partner Ariel Quiros have purchased Burke Mountain Resort. We alerted staff and you were next on the list. We (or more specifically JJ Toland) will be covering all the press, but thought it was important that you hear the news, officially, from us and not vague rumors and news reports.

We’re still working out (all) the details, but are already thinking of ways to amplify your winter experience to include Burke. Stay tuned – you will, as always, be amongst the first to know.

For more info on Burke visit skiburke.com. Maybe like them on Facebook too - facebook.com/BurkeMtn. Think both will highlight that Burke and Jay Peak will be a good fit.

And most importantly, will my Jay season pass be good at Burke?

being a former burke employee and multi season pass holder there, 199.00 would by me a mid week pass at burke and gave me free skiing at jay mid week, 20 bux at cannon and free at another gem (moreso than burke) for pow preservation, i will say that stengers purchase will be what burke needs to stay alive and keep people employed. however, i do miss the old slow quad as it allowed the pow to last longer, and kept the chill vibe there, just that, chill, no rush.

burke skis so well and was such an amazingly unique place that i hardly EVER bothered with jay unless it was dumping with windhold, then it was worth my drive to go and skin all day as very few folks would do that back then.

pow day? jay=feeding frenzy. burke=not a feeding frenzy. burke has such better fall line skiing from the top to mid as well with no useless jay runout.

hope it stays that way. time will tell.

Part of me thinks they are buying it so they can remove the 2 lifts, steal the windtower, and have a place to bury all the garbage they are amassing at J and leave us with only 1 option for lift assisted turns. The LOC would be OK but the rope tow has been shitified, maybe J will buy them too. Maybe this is the best way they can reroute the local skier away from J to make room for the flatlanders with murses.

That being said, if they actually do rejuvenate reciprocity, looks like I will be a J passholder again afterall. We'll see.

I'm just hoping they can at least truck some of the snow from J down to Burke, with any luck now that mother nature knows stenger has both mts in his pocket she will start balancing the snow distribution.

If only it was actually British Racing Green. Actually, it is a rather putrid shade of flat army-fatigue pea soup green. Had to red it up to stand the color.

Awesomeness...love the Bill Dance "it's a monster" grimace on your mug! Was away last week but trying to carve out some time to head south very soon, good to see the action is still lively down there.

Did about 30 mins of dock casting last Sunday night but no takers, hope to get the yacht out this weekend though.

The mustache bars match that styly one you were sporting this winter, should be fun to ride around the Mid area.

Got out today on my new[ish] 5.5 fro with a downsized small frame purchased from beaterdit in SLC. New Zoc 44microti tires and rings have me feeling centered again. After I quit the sport and came back I went too big and just could not get the right feel. Had a blast in Waterbury today and feel the flow again, so nice to relax and go.
Walked into HOP HEAVEN at the cannery today. A marathon canning day meant knock you over Hoparoma. Picked up another case and some stickas which are only a $1 each and proceeds to the Waterbury flood relief.

I am going to be spearheading a Spring MTB Summit, details to follow. Will be in the Ascutny area so lube those chains and punch Yo livers bitches'. Butta/powbmps looking for some help here.

FUCK I love this ^^^ ride, wish I had never stopped riding.
