Oh, there will be machete swingage. I need to feel like I did SOMETHING gnar-related this week.

Will def give you all the info I have on the bike. Don't want to get rid of it but trying to accomplish several things and another paperweight just isn't doing it for me currently. Would be cool to see it go somewhere nearby where I'd get to periodically molest it so thanks for the heads up.

Wtf?!?! Dumping the bike, and you don't even have a wife to harass you into doing it (or a kid to allow her to successfully guilt-trip you into listening). I'm disappointed in you - for me. I'd fucking kill to be 'allowed' to still keep a sport bike in my garage for more than a couple weeks a year.

but how bout that wind? that time o year. maybe tomorrow could be fun early. blowin hard maybe in a better direction. will try not to get blown to yurp

was talkin to nev'ns yesterday and he's sure itchin for snow, but we both agreed that excellent waves overall for the past 2 months have made the snow itch a "meh, whatevs", affair.

could just be one-a those seasons like 94-95 here, but man was that year unreal in ootah!!! woot!

Yeah well tell that to my subconscious and my work plans. Fucked up dreams/nightmares about riding or rather crashing for most of the summer that really kept me from enjoying it for the most part after my friend died in a pretty gruesome way on his in the spring. Also trying to get a product line off the ground and need dough to make it happen and japan is also a big part of that too. If all works out I can always get another one later anyways so no bigs. It needs to go for now. That and you can only do 170+ so many times before some uncontrollable factor kills you and I lack the self control to keep it at a reasonable speed. Maybe when I grow up we'll see.

Dowork ..i agree, dump the bike .. you can always sign your name when you get back on the dotted line and just get a new one....your self control for speed does not go away.. at 41 i still enjoy cranking up the speed .. its an addiction and wont go away trust me just got to be smart where you crank it up....

JGB....my wife tried to pull that selling your machines stuff... she was told i would sell her first....MY buddy and his wife just split up for that exact reason...they had a baby and all of the suddent he is suppose to sell the bikes, sled and boat.....He gave her walking papers......you got to keep some stuff just to remain sane.....lets hope for snow soon......

The Brewster is running high...not a good sign for what little snow we had. Still white on the hill but dwindling and warm right now. Okay...time to cash in the karma points, cross your fingers, click your heels and make a wish. Bring on winter and let it fucking snow. Please!

All of these points are valid. Just busting your chops as I like to (try) to still live vicariously thru my MC owning friends. Since selling my last bike, it's a whole different game when I'm out riding a borrowed bike. Like you said, I'm constantly seeing/hearing/feeling the shit that could go wrong - totally over analyzing shit. But I guess a lot of that is the result of almost having my left leg amputated as the result of an MC accident and spending three years and 20+ surgeries to get back to 'normal'. But not so much. Apparently modern medicine still has it's limits.

Yeah, I hear ya on this & I'd love to say I had a leg to stand on in the argument (pun intended). The Mrs. (before she was the Mrs) spent the better part of 3 years as more of a nurse than girlfriend. Changing bloody dressings, peeling away dead skin grafts that didn't take, dragging my ass to the Dr's & PT 5-6 times a week and getting me shit because I couldn't walk. I mean she missed out on a lot of stuff while I was laid up & then re-learning how to walk again. So it woulda been pretty fucked up of me to say FU - I'm keeping the bike & you're out. But I definitely know where you're coming from. If that accident never happened, I'd still feel the same way as you & your buddy.

yup, been feeling that 05/06 deja vu for a bit now...and hoping we're in for what came after the worrisome nov/december/early jan that season.

i spent more time climbing out of deep snow and onto my waiting skis that season than all others combined. and every time i thought i had seen more snow than ever...another 3' dump timed to a holiday! 52" easter weekend at MRG and then another massive storm the following week...

yea, visualizing that's where this is all headed... (02/03 got off to a late start too but come x-mas we had a continuous snowpack near sea level well into march)

all will be forgiven when the snow comes!

    JUST SAYIN

v-day blizzard was 06/07 season, not 05/06. tues/wed/thurs of that storm i was at burke. tues/wed was best as by thurs (v-day) folks realized it had been snowing a shit ton.

05/06 was a year without jan thaw i think cuz early jan was ski anything ya want at burke and it snowed like heck for 3 days around my b-day. i'd take another 07' right about now. from mid jan till the end it was downright sick.

As the rog blogs, I think you guys are talking about 06-07 for the holiday storm season.

Any way, back in the near present past, yesterday was one of the best bike rides of the season.

    Highlighter.

    Wall ride.

Nice sunset to kick off the last down. The dusky 600' climb back home actually felt good.

I hope it's the last ride of the season, but no promises. If the trails dry and freeze again, that stuff's just too good to pass. A few turns on the hill, then a few turns of the pedal, global warming isn't so bad, right? Man, I need a powder day ... or three.

Speaking of last rides, check out a preview of the new trail project from MTBVT on the old Norwich Ski Hill in Northfield. Brooke Scatchard is leading the charge, and it looks sweet.

    [QUOTE=akokskis;3471345]Wooooooooooooooooo!

Wow, what a week (or so) it's been! After a killer previous week, I'm finally done school! Still waiting for an official confirmation, but I'm now a master of science! Even better, now that I'm done school, it's time to ski bum for the winter.

Congrats on the master, enjoy teh bumming this year!

I thought it was funny when you complained about only getting in 1 ski day last week when you have more riding in this season than any other mag around these parts. Looking good for tomorrow though cold.

The wind blew Retard strong all day yesterday, swinging from SW > SE over the course of the day. Kept expecting a tree to fall down. Unfortunately took all of the frost [what little there was] out of the ground and we were back to mud season. 37.4` and a brisk wind blowing now.
TC, not sure here you heard about major upslope? See about an inch or so falling tonight which would be good as the coldest night so far is coming Sat. that could help us freeze the ground before the possible storm Wed. We need some consistent cold to get frozen ground this year and the bush needs it for thier pathetic snowmaking system that will need 5-6 days to "refresh" the current boring intermediate 1 way down nevermind open more interesting terrain.

Now that the roasting boxes have been returned to Northhampton we can hope ULLR will show his love for the Eastcoast snow fanatics.

In all seriousness WTF! Will the temps even drop sometime soon let alone even snow. Both would be perfect. Never though I'd think twice about taking a 6 hr drive to go play in a water park. Has any one been there this week?

Yeah, my bad on putting the wrong year for the V-Day blizzard in my post (corrected). The picture was from December 2006 and I forgot to switch year gears in my brain when i started thinking about the blizzard in February. It was a good ski season that year (once it got started ).

Had to work up in Montreal yesterday and had planned on popping into Vermont to catch a day or two when I made the plans. Figured December 16th would be a safe bet, but instead got to drive 6 hours through pouring fucking rain. Yahoo.
