your skiing doesn't really improve much by skiing good snow. it's the crap that really learns ya. skiing shit snow/ice that most folks would turn their noses up at, and skiing it well and in control separates the men from the boyz.

Your outlook is far more optimistic than mine. I just want cold temps and deep snow. Skiing is skiing, even on crowded trails and in 50 degree temps. It'll get cold, it'll snow and it'll be fun eventually.

why do thoughts of BD with a huge head of hair, beads around his neck, fringe on the jacket sleaves, some skinny stix and a good groove going come into my mind.... the stix song, these are the best of times, playing in the back ground........

lets hope for some damn snow...

Only really bringing snows to Maine if that. However, I’d like to add that until we see where this front stalls and where this wave develops late Tuesday, further meaningful analysis should be withheld.

I'm attending a wedding in NYC and looking for a place to ski on Sunday without going back to Boston first. Do I head to VT or should we hit somewhere in upstate NY? The only place in NY I've ever skied is Whiteface.

what do ya got a ski streak goin rob? i think i'd just make a weekend of the wedding and have fun in nyc. it's not like there's much drive worthy skiing goin on anyway.

drove down to the beach today for a 930am paddle out. wind had just switched to a much more favorable direction and like two other folks shared the whole 2 miles of surfable beach. i was the 3rd and felt bad about crowding the place up

well conditions got better and better till i pulled off my suit in the parking lot 5 hours later at 230pm. place was deserted all day with sun and temps touching 60. even got a sunburn on my face. 5 days in a row and many hours. getting up at the crack to do it all over again. torture, pure torture i tell ya

Close to nyc not much is on yet unfortunately. Check in on hickory though- I have no idea of status. It's 4+ hrs north of here.

Edit- forget it. It's forecasting to be in the 40's for the week up there. No way.

It seems the temps can't get below 55 down here. It's been 60 for the past 2 weeks. Thurs looks like something might come down but it's just looking like slush.

I celebrated my 30th b-day at k-ton in 1988... at least that's what I am told. It was always the ride home that made you wonder wtf the next day. Definitely survived some scary moments, rides.

MtBB, I wish I could take credit for actually being that cool, then. The good groove, long hair and skinny sticks is right, but I was probably flying down with my Levis corduroy jacket unzipped, flapping free and in jeans...

Sorry if this is a repost. Seems like a pretty good deal, $35 for a lift ticket and lunch at Magic.

Can't beat that...if if it ever snows around here. Though I feel funny buying cheap tix at Magic. A few years ago they had "bring a can of food for the food drive Wednesdays" and get a discounted ticket. I used to bring a few cans of tomato soup and pay full price. Speaking of soup, hopefully the Smokin' Bowl's folks will be back at the commissary this year.

This kind of sums it up...

So, Ms. Multiglisse and I are relaxing this evening and watching the classic, License to Thrill. While Plake is doing some stunt, she opines:

"You know, I could be a much better skier if it weren't for all the dweezils in the way."
"... Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to your body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards." – Edward Abbey

Sunrise was pretty spectacular this AM. If 55` in Westchesta is bad ,what is 51` at 10:45 at the base of the Bush? Its also windy.

Unless we get some serious dumping, Hickory probably won't be open until after New Years. No snowmaking is a bitch.

Neufaux, upstate as in North of the City or up to the ADKs? Hunter should be open. Probably not a whole lot of terrain though. Gore will be open, same situation. Whiteface would be a bit better, but that's looking like a 5+ hour drive. Same with Kmart.

I'm with Rog on this one.

^^^ Huntah is not open - they even had to suspend snowmaking today due to temperatures.

Kmart is probably closest worthwhile skiing, and one could argue to what extent that is worthwhile at the moment.

Temps down to 45` this morning with rain. Forcast calling for around an inch of sleet and snow through Wednesday. Bush will be hard pressed to get top to bottom by Sat. if they want more than 1 dull way down from the top. Seasonal programs begin this weekend so it will probably be a shitshow. Wish the 7 day was showing more promise.

On a different note the "most interesting man in the world" lives in southern Vermont. Maybe near Magic ?

Temps are going to hit the teens this weekend, though.
