Uncle Phil was dropping 'daisy cutters' all fucking night. and John K is the dopeness. so good, i think i'm going to catch them at UMass on Sunday. The Wheel>Supplication, Jack Straw, Bertha, Catfish John, Shakedown! so many great songs last night.
Just noticed they're playing in Albany on 11/15 at the Times Union Center...previously known as Knickerbocker Arena of 'Dozin at the Knick' fame. Many great concerts in that place! It's a worknight but damn, how much longer can these guys keep it going?

    Insanity, check.
But the weather was nice, the beer cheap ($3.50 - did they forget to price gouge?) and there were flapping Starter jackets aplenty. And holy crap, the debris piles on 100 from Irene are crazy.

That'd be correct, but I live in Boston now, so not quite the drive.

Killington was crazy crowded today, so many tall tees. I rode the lift up with two kids in tees to their knees, talking over shit music that was blasting from their headphones (which were around their necks) about how big of a douche the kid on the chair behind us was because of his outfit. I had a good laugh. $3.50 beers made my day.

^^ Yea, this high pressure system over the past week has been epic. Bummed that I haven't been able to get out much to enjoy the beautiful weather, but I did manage to get out for a few walks over the weekend. Really couldn't ask for much better.

I'm putting together a Plattekill work day on 11/20. Laszlo is offering up a voucher, food, and drink. I'm pretty psyched for it and actually hoping for bare earth. I wrote a whole bunch about it on the NY Ski Blog, if you're down to help let me know!

Dogs are welcome, we'll just have to try to keep them out of harms way when we're using chainsaws. Can't make any promises about porcupines though!

Looks like a good time to help clean up, and breath even more life into what seems to be the ski-mecca of southern-NY. good luck!

Has VTF given you a hard time about linking to your blog at all? I've had a hard time with him in the past over that issue.

Got 6 runs in at Kmart yesterday before heading home. Looks like we found the house we want after 5 trips since september. Time to scour the seat cushions for spare change to put this together.

It's an awesome place and I'm happy to help so I can continue to head up there on random Sundays in October to hand them $35 to go skiing. I guess I do feel like a shill for P-Kill sometimes, but not really about the blog. It's not mine, but Harvey asked me to write some things for it because he liked my photographs and writing on here. Or maybe it was just my enthusiasm for small mountains in New York that don't get that much snow or have a lot vert.

Anyway, VT-F has yet to give me any shit about the links (of which there were what, two?), but hopefully when I get after it a little more I can start spamming in earnest. Even more exciting would be if I could persuade some people living in the Green Mountain state or farther abroad to drive west and come check things out, especially at really awesome places fighting for every dollar and visit like Hickory and Plattekill.

*By competition, I mean the equivalent of what most days feels like wandering out into the middle of Yankee Stadium with a bat and ball and having no one to play with. It's just stupid how few people go there.

Last week was so fun. Probably the only snowliage I'll see this year.

Lastly, unlike other work days at other mountains I think ownership might be providing adult beverages at the end of the day, which is pretty fucking cool.

How do you like my blog, now?

Plattekill is undoubtedly a diamond in the rough... or the Southern region of NY as it were. The cleanup day seems awesome, and very "un SNY ski area-y"... FIS pushed the event through our FB/Twitter. Hopefully it helps get the word out on this small non "McSkiing" resort...

    and that shot is BEAUTIFUL

HA, I called, left a message, KNOCKED on the front door, and spent some time chasing Bo around and hooking him up to the runner. It was quite the shitshow in your driveway. Catch you the next time we come up. We thought about dinner on saturday but the Lodge pretty much doesn't want guests to leave the dogs unattended in the rooms, so we ended up getting room service on Friday and I picked up some takeout from the Sunset Grille on Saturday. Sounds like the barn party was a good time, we chatted with Sandy at B&J for a bit before heading back to Stowe.
