Yeah, apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Dad's been buddies with Dan Healy (GD sound engineer from late 60's thu 93 or 94) forever and would get SBD feeds pretty regularly back in the day so I found quite a bit of GD material in the attic as well. Unfortunately, all but a few of the reels were falling apart due to the less than ideal storage conditions. I still have them - maybe sometime I'll get around to baking them in the oven and trying to read them again (that's one of the methods that was used to stabilize Betty Cantors reels once they were re-discovered in the 90's.)
Let's hit this trap range you were telling me about in Danbury. Sporting clays would be even more awesomer. And yeah - the baked beans from Ullrfest last year were INCREDIBLE.
I can't imagine why not?
Found these pics online (same year/color):

Edit for page top tunes..

And I'm a few days late, but a little GD summer solstice action:

That's awesome. The first "album" I remeber hearing was the Woodstock soundtrack on 8-track. My dad had an 8-track player in the garage and I used sit out there and watch him wrench on cars and bikes and blast that cassette. He had a bunch of 'em, but I only remember that one.
Anyone been up to Bromley to sample their summer fare? I'm itchin to get out of Delaware and have a 7 y/o who needs stuff to do. Thinkin of checkin out Magic fireworks, Black line Pub, and Bromley Adventure Center. It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

Yeah, Bromley's pretty cool for my little guy, but some of the stuff might be a little young for your son (and you have a really little one too, right?) although it'd probably be good for a half day with the trampolines, climbing wall, alpine slide, mini golf, etc.
It's a little pricey, but the timber coaster over at Jackson Gore (Okemo) is awesome. My son just wants to ride it over & over and screams 'Faster daddy!' with a grin on his face all the way down.
I think we're going to head up next Friday and camp out somewhere with some friends - you guys are welcome to join. Probably setup Friday afternoon, hit Magic for fireworks & beers, then have the Mrs take the little guy to Bromley & Okemo on Sat while I head up the hill to do some glade clearing.

Yea- If anybody wants to do a pig roast I'll happily cook the thing and get the oven built. It's a blast. That pig was 84 lbs, and cooked in about 7 hours.
It was local, organic, and extremely fresh. Could have fed 50 people.
PM if you anybody is serious about doing a pig roast.
As for the baked beans:
(Keys to the Kingdom to follow)
Start with dry beans and cook till they are about as done as they would be out of a can. (soak overnight, boil for about 90-120 minutes. No salt or that would make the beans tough).
Then make the sauce.
(i'm skipping volumes) ... it's to taste.
Start with jim beam brought to a high simmer, light it on fire to burn off some alcohol. Add molasses, honey, angostura bitters, cumin, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, wosteschire sauce and apple cider vinegar. simmer and reduce by about 1/3.
Add that to...(in a large bowl already combined...)
Ketchup, a1 steak sauce, dijon mustard, wosteshire, apple cider vinegar, tabasco style hot sauce Cumin, tumeric, salt, pepper, cinnamon and whisk to combine the reduced jim beam part and the ketchup based part. Let it cool.
Then add to that.. red onions cooked in a pan where you cooked off bacon and deglazed with apple cider vinegar. cover the beans in this sauce...bake...till beans are reall tender and starting to explode.
Feed to a party of people very hungry and sleeping in tents. Leave before the ass-plosions start.Last edited by lionelhutz; 06-27-2012 at 08:03 AM.

loving these fish-in-the-net shots. lots of summer fun in these to tease the eye. the best ones seem to have the fish's eye in focus
in other news if anyone wants these and is willing to meet me in the Stowe-Morrisville-Johnson-Williston-Bolton-Waterbury circle:
http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...prit-4-27-5-28
...I'll really hook you up on price. They're listed in the thread for 115 i think, but I'd go a good bit lower.
ALSO if anyone wants a pair of Spirit 3s with NON FUNCTIONAL dynafit inserts (so you can only use them in a traditional touring clamp like a fritschi or a duke) I have a pair that I'd do for a case of Long TrailLast edited by gpetrics; 06-27-2012 at 09:02 AM.

It's damn good to see everyone out kicking summer's ass and having fun.

Thanks JGB, if you want any more mint 916's keep it up. See you on the 6th. Fireworks should be awesome. I'll be camping with you guys. Your housemate will know where. Sorry for the change, just tired of a long overdue shitty ass username. Not that this is any better.

Heh. I'll behave until first snowfall in VT if you'll sell me another pair of 916's that are anywhere near as nice as the ones you hooked me up with last year.
FWIW, I'm pretty sure splat or one of the admins can change your old username if you'd like - I remember being really confused for a few months when DL had her screenname changed to ScarletBegonias. On the bright side, you'll have a clean PM box... once an admin approves your account
Glad to hear a camping spot has been secured. See you next weekend.Going where the wind don't blow so strange

Not sure how 'phish-type party' it will be, but this fits the bill for outdoor Vermont festival pretty well...

TC, that's the most amazing fish I think I've seen yet.
Went to Rockaway today. There was a lot of scenery getting tanned up for summer and tacos from heaven. I love NYC. Also, the waves were so dead you could basically swim and see the bottom. It was almost like the carribean. Or Chicago, but without the floaters.
I got a bunch of dumb stuff at the adventure weekend last week. Any of you guys want a $25 coupon at the Orvis store? I can send it wherever, I won't use it. Had too much in car repairs this summer to get off my ass to buy a rod or bike. Maybe the climbing shoes can go through the summer, too. They can't smell any worse, right?
I am tempted to pull the trigger on some Worth's by Friday, though. Who else is getting sticks in this run? There are some graphics I have my eye on.
Awesome stoke all, keep shooting......I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record

I'd be happy to take that orvis coupon off your hands if you don't want it
Need some more tying supplies anyways.
And we'd love it if you decided to get some shiny new Worths
Long story short it's happening and we're super stoked. Some great new gfx for the Georges too, but you should know about that one ML.
A few shots from a few weeks back. love me some small waters.

I'll try to find some time to get up some more recent stoke, including the paddlefest this past weekend. Man, I've been wanting to try out SUPing for a while and... it was awesome!! the only problem is that now I don't have a spare $1-1.5k for a board, paddle, lifejacket (legally req'd in vt), etc.... Either way, it was a blast.
Managed to get out tonight for a few hours of what should have been killer fishin but only managed two fish on some of the waters shown above. Did catch my biggest brookie yet out there, give er take 10".... pretty much a trophy on that stream. pics will have to wait though, and now I'm just a ramblin man........
Addit: oh and ML if you wanna see some pretties, check out some wind river gold

Ak, love the shot of those holes...TC, what a fish!
Worth news: we have some sweet new graphics for the George, courtesy of Matt's talented gf, and we are working on building a prototype of a new model, an EC-friendly pow board, which we are super stoked on. We have 2 slots still open on the run that Keith is building now, a 185 George and a 185 Humpback. If anyone is thinking of pulling the trigger, let me know ASAP.
Thanks ML and NmbrdDays for your support, we are stoked to get you out on our skis!

AK, the big guy sniped you with an email right after I posted that thing. I didn't realize the addictive power of fly fishing, I'll try and turn up another or I owe you a beer!
Caught this vid I thought some of you might enjoy.

I mean, I wouldn't say absolutely terrible. But I did have 11 tents to set up today in 91 degree weather. Damn graduation season. At least I'm working now.
It's wayy too hot to ride bikes.
Kayaking felt awesome yesterday. First run down the Gorge ever with no issues.
Lots more HOT work in the next few days, then I'll be drunk and free for the week of the 4th.
