MSS was hoping to maybe make it one last weekend, but the news came down today. The Eastern spinning season is over.

If you want to make some turns before next Fall you'll have to hike or hop on a plane.

Madpat- I would like to see the summer in the alps TR. I have only been in the winter but the shots of lush green valleys against the snowy glacial peaks in the summer has always been something I have wanted to see in person ever since European Vacation

Moeghoul- glad to see it coming together. Sorry we did not connect this time. looks like you guys had fun.

Thats great hearing the excitement in rog's voice as he recounts his run, possibly no one is as committed to that place as he is. Thanks for the vids MTL.

Summit cams look wet to me, unless there is some imaginary snow falling

FD- I hope that situation is easy as can be given what you are dealing with. If you can make let me know.

BM- I hope you don't mind that I will be using a fly rod for them ditch pickles

the doll's cool and all, but i have my sights set on the real thing!
i knew when i saw tanorexic mom my eyes had struck gold.
some day, she's gonna have my child...and get arrested once again for bringing him/her into the damn booth!

(yes this is - like most infatuation - fraught with inner conflict...but i have to follow my heart)

    i wonder if she skis...

It should happen, pretty everything was written on paper at that time. I just thought it didn't make sense to post when snow was falling in the East. Once I finish getting SA TRs out of the way, I'll get cracking on Europe and the odd 20th anniversary TRs. There is also a TR from last Sunday's lift-served skiing.

The hardest part is going to choose the pics for these. 1500 pics...not digital. All have been digitilized, but still.

Best bring the beefy version. Couple of 'em I landed last week would break those leetle trout rods (permanent winky inserted here).

Thanks for the info FD, I guess I'll have to wait for Otto Rhode or maybe some other slog. I will run around and get some cardio in.

Rudeness, have fun meeting the parents - I remember meeting my (future in-laws!) - they hated me! Lol but soon it was all good.

Hiking with kids on Saturday, no schuss, just picnic.

nice vid stoke ripper! that whole range never gets old. always changing from year to year, wind/snow event to wind/snow event. there's stuff i haven't skied in 15 years as it's just never quite come in the same since. amazing too that if you take the acreage of just the prezzie range, factor in the size of new england, the population base, to how freaking uncrowded all of the bowls and drainages are for much of the season up high and it's just that much more amazing. not a destination cept for for a handful of ec'ers. try that in most other mountain regions far and wide. ain't gonna happen. i personally love it that way.

i just hope we have a killer snow winter next season as the resorts will get most folks attention and high george will see less of it. always happens that way

Heading to the Green Mountain Trails for a ride on Sunday... Thinking of continuing the trip East and heading to Tux for Monday. Haven't talked to the rest of the crew yet, but we'll see.

Anyone gonna be up there? Rogyblogy?

day 4 into this illness and i feel fucking aweful. going to go buy a bunch of drugs today. i don't see myself doing anything at all in the next few days or week unless i can crack this thing. 1st week in some time where the waves have been good all week too. i did paddle out yesterday for a quick session before work which probably didn't help me out very much. felt ok while i was out there tho.

man i hope no one gets this thing

A coupla pix attached from the trip including a fellow we met panning for gold. Apparently, there's a mini gold rush going on in waterways that were affected by Irene. The theory is the hurricane churned up the river and stream bottom sediments and may have brought teh nuggets and gold particles closer to the surface. Somebody was skinning on the mountain and getting some WROD turns.

Awesome! Congrats, hope the inspection went well.. The Brewster River Campground is just down the rd from me... Never heard anyone panning for gold in the Brewster, but Irene did move a lot of rock est. Can't make out who is in the picture, wonder if its someone I know. lol.. The River runs through Sequiashans backyard just up stream from the campground. Maybe I should put his kids to work looking for gold. haha.. Whens the move?

Hint: He's with Jeffville Fire & Rescue and a certified electrician. Don't want to put his name out here, but I can PM it to you. I've got a septic guy to inspect the system on Monday. Absent any big issues, we're good to go for a June settlement. Smugglers View Road property.

Looks like all that snow will delay the opening of the Auto Road. Saw this on their Facebook page today:

"Arrgghhh....winter returns...we're closed today due to snow as low as 3,000'. We should be able to return to treeline operation for the weekend. Opening to the summit for the 19th is beginning to look doubtful since the weather has not cooperated nearly as much as we need to get repairs done on Five Mile and Six Mile. We'll keep you posted...hw"

On the other hand, that probably means there are refills on the snowfields and in Airplane. =)
