Apology accepted! The only reason we knew it would be awesome is because when the boys were in their teens, we took them to Banff and stayed at a condo resort that had a waterpark. We figured, "we'll hang in the hot tub and sauna while the boys play" but we ended up having as much fun as the boys -- maybe even MORE fun? Have to admit the waterpark is an ingenius addition to the resort. But can't help lamenting that Jay will never be the same again...

That was a fun day for sure - bummed I missed this one, but my knees still aren't 100% and I had something else going on. Glad you guys got after it though, and +1 on looking good in that red onesie dude!

Looks and sounds like good times this weekend with mags taking over the slopes, great shots by all...wish I could have made it to join in on the festivities. Family 4 day trip to Montreal was definitely fun but heading back over the border on the way home yesterday and seeing Jay full on white staring me in the face was a bit painful.

VTCS - Was thinking about a hike tomorrow or Wed. weather depending so let me know your plan.

    Great J stoke!

We hit the (Other) Waterpark down by 'Dough, Vermont, which oddly enough, is free, unlike the one at J.

SST- you were for sure correct. I cannot believe the level of fun we had either. My son was out of his mind. We lapped the big green and blue tubes like 10 times while he squealed in delight the entire way down followed by some bumper car lazy mile rowdiness. I am looking into an annual pass there it was so much fun super cheap for the fun you have. Great addition for sure. Hopefully, its not over and I get a chance to make some turns with you instead of your friends all the time like in the last couple of seasons of you picking out random people/friends in my pics

Thanks all for stoking the stoke!! Winter wasnt what it could have been but I think we all did a good job of making the best of it. And yes BD these late spring snows are leaving it on a high note.

I bailed on mt washington today with rog and lynch who are up there now. 5 am drive time was not high on my list. Excited to see what they find up there. Either glorious windbuff or dust on crust, hopefully the former.

Rudeness- thanks for the pics and let me know about friday. I feel like we have some snow left to fall still, my knee is telling me.

Bucket- I felt bad bailing early on sunday, I was just wiped from 2 days of touring all day pretty much and brunch was calling, although your tasty fake meat selection was excellent as always. Lets do it again this weekend.

DW's one piece is the ultimate photo slut attire, being a great skier helps as well

Ah, turn high! That's his name! Also completely forgot about that untracked powerline run. Couldn't believe that was still untouched that late in the day.

    Thumbs up

What a way to end a season.....After driving the hell drive from Phila to dalts, i got there to find a flake or two falling from the sky and cold temps. Skiing at Jay for the first time was certainly fun, just need to get there next year when everything is in play. The first few laps were a real treat and nice to get the HUMPBACKS back into the pow. We had a great crew up there for sure...nothing better than good skiing and good poeple to top it all out. Waterpark = AWESOME for sure.....
LH.. It wasnt the sausage fest it looked like in the pic. Got to view many nice bumps inside and even had one set almost fall out....
Sorry i was up and out early. Thanks to dalt/nea for hospitality at their house and Buckethead for organizing the condo....

A case of heady toppers is a great investment, just make sure you have a few people to drink them quickly with, cuz it's the best when its FRESH. Def my favorite beer right now... the new Celia Saison is good, but is not HT.

    Cheers!

    from todays avy report:

"If you want to know what you should be looking for in a weather forecast that promises a great Tuckerman ski day, look no further than today’s higher summits forecast. Temperatures will be warming to around 30F while winds drop through the day to almost imperceptible levels. Throw in full sunshine and the fact that this is happening on a Monday, when relatively few people will be on the mountain, and the potential is there for a great day. Now that you’re either: a) excited because you’re coming up, or b) bummed because you’re stuck at work, here are the downsides to the day. First, the Chute does still have some new snow in the upper section that has yet to see any traffic at all. I think if you’re patient, the trend through today will be for increasing stability as solar energy and time work in your favor. If you’re a go-getter, be aware that there is the potential for human triggered avalanches in this area. Even if all you are doing is going to ride the lower half, you’ll need to pay attention to who or what is up above. The good snow in the lower half of the Chute is in the runout path of slides from above!"

perfect country club tux day with lynchy. only 2 others would venture into the bowl all day in the afternoon. 3 perfect peel away smooth t2b left gully laps followed by the best chute run i've ever skied with as good as it gets corn on the top and bottom 3rds wth great glued in bottomless dense pow for the middle 500+ vert at 50 degrees. we couldn't believe how long the corn section was from high above the bowl on the ridge, above the "business" section at the rollover. unreal.

thanx a bunch mark! good month of turns left up there. left and chute are damn fat right now.

    great jay stoke y'all!

Jay looked like fun (unfortunately too much stuff to deal with right now - hoping it's coming to an end after 2 years and i'll be totally free after July).

SOOO, this will be first time in at least 38 years, there will be no liftserved skiing in May in Vermont and the Northeast.

One ski area might be able to save it for May in the East.

Here is probably one of my last Eastern Closing 2012 thread on Ski Mad World.

Woot! Good times Rog. My start of the day was rough but all ended well with a beautiful untracked run down the gut of Chute. A little sluff management required so the trax are a little odd but the turns were ooohh so sweet. And thanks for sharing that beer. Damn good day. Is that road open yet?

    hey, it all worked out.

that chute run was everything a classic ski run should be. beginning with the setting of that 50 degree deep fresh booter while being mindful of the new slab and the terrain features and how they'd play together to those top turns, oh those top turns in the nicest corn imaginable before the whole world falls away out of view below yer ski tips. watching you ski that run from below was awesome mark. very well played. every movement was mindful, calculated and perfectly executed. love that.

    no prob on the beer

road open? fuck, all the good skiing's in tux. by the time that road opens, it won't even be worth the drive up. unless it snows a few feet. c'mon 100" may of 97', c'mon!
