Going up?

Agreed.
What was buoyant yesterday had an undertow today. I was wishing for more rocker and width, but managed to hold it together for a few fun drops and rollovers on Paradise. It's so rare to ski these runs without bumps or tracks. Point and shoot.

Fred shredding.

Nothing at the bottom, except for the MRG glacier.

From those wondering the open status of the ski areas for the coming weekend, here is Ski Mad World weekly late season Eastern rundown: 9 areas are planing to spin lifts (this number includes Wcat as a maybe).
Quebec: 3
Vermont: 2
New Hampshire : 1 maybe
Maine: 3
As the snow hitting VT and to a lesser extend places in the East from NH to Quebec City...there might be someone spinning lifts in May 2012 after all.
The fat lady hasn't song yet...
Here is my weekly last season post:
QC: 3, VT: 2, NH : 1?, ME: 3
If you want more details, check it out below...however reading this thread and looking at these pics is way better. Kudos for those that went out.

Get it before Sol does. Looks like the usual "roller coaster" warm up coming. Wondering where teh George pics are? Rog? Or are you fighting wildfires and chainslap on the MTB trails?

NEW FRIENDS ON A POWDER DAY
got up to the K bright and early weds for a solo sesh...or so i thought.
first run down cascade was a challenging leg burner. i'd taken the rockers out for the first time in over a month and found them to lack the bite i'd gotten used to on the old axioms. on the heavy chop they were especially uninspiring.
getting off the gondi for run two - now on the axioms - someone admired my skis (as his go-to's for utah), and minutes later i'd joined a crew of three (non-mags in interweb habits only)...i recommended we go for a little more elevation on catwalk, and found the first hero turns of the day.
next the local of the bunch took us into some woods...and that is where the fun really began! the lower angle stuff was incredible: creamy, light and not at all bony! most weren't venturing in so we scored fresh shots well into the day. first long runs in the woods since smuggs feb 27 and 28 - this was shaping up to be quite epic!
it snowed for a while, we saw some graupel, and most importantly it stayed cool - and then later in the day we saw some sun, which dried things out very nicely on the trails...delivering some fluffy turns and drops! run of the day after run of the day...and the place was a country club, i tell you!
we ventured over to the north ridge and scored yet more fantrastic - and not-very disturbed snow. i'd never done the walkway (opposite direction) on skis - so got my first taste of urban skiing as well
by the last few hours i was overcome by giddyness and had begun singing loud to my ipod, to the delight of all in earshot, no doubt! it was one of the top 5 of a season that continues to produce many amazing days!
was hard to stop for pics - these do no justice but here they are (some in large format for a change to boot
)
first day BELL TO BELL since smuggs as well!
a big thanks to the crew for showing the goods and just making what would have been a good day on trail into an amazing day of exploration and big howls!

Looking great, bucket. Nice April stoke.
Been giddy since your report yesterday, and can't wait to get outta work & on the road tonight.
Not sure what I'm going to do for skis. After talking to you, I was thinking Lhasa's but looking at the pics it's looking like 192's or SuperBro's may be in order. You know it's a good day in April when your biggest problem is deciding which non-rock skis to break out for the day!Going where the wind don't blow so strange

stowe was miserable this AM. froze pretty hard last night... just enough to lock up the trenches, but not quite enough to prevent untouched surfaces from being breakable. not good snow for tired knees :/
no sorry face outta me though. Mon, Tues, Weds were INSANE... and this is the east, so of course you have expect it to get warm wet and then cold again... moreover it is april after all. i'm stoked actually... pow this week... now it's time for a corn cycle!"Whenever I get a massage, I ALWAYS request a dude." -lionelhutz

On account of almost becoming a menendez family member last night I never made it up. I got an offer to head up tomm with a work buddy, it looks like I'll make it for the roll call after all. I think A day on planks will help clear the mind.
On a side note. One of the local brew haus' got some hill farmstead on tap! It's only been a few months and I forgot how good this stuff is. Only blasphemy is the way it's served.
Had to have 2!

Nice report Bucket! you nailing awesome K days continues, hope to catch another day with you before this season is out. Glad you liked Smuggs this year, would be great if that means seeing more of you next year up here.
What a week in the east, deep blower pow in the Chocs to deep schmoog pow in VT. Things are shaping up for spring corn cycles. Good freeze last night had me hesitate on going this morning since that moisture rich snow mostly likely froze up. Heading up this afternoon to see whats going on.

^^^^ Ha I know I owe a visit to you guys, being that I may be heading south to the Cape, that could potentially happen depending on timing. Just that I hate paying for lift tickets, although a great crew to ride with is enough incentive, and my dog hates me when he sees the gear going in the truck and he is not coming. Also I am very social if you see me on teh wayz up

hat's off for heading north for your cloud, and then bringing it back within reach for the rest of us

i've been talking up smuggs all spring (to those worthy of the recommendation - the lines get long enough there!)...so you know i'll be there. my season didn't kick off til that first time there in january. suddenly i remembered how much fun the ski season was gonna be!
you should come down...there's not gonna be a more bountiful spring day at K than tomorrow...and the cast of characters that are taking their skis out of mothballs is quite impressive
