white rocks is pretty cool...hike starts with unique (and relatively technical) boulder field close to the trailhead, beautiful views of equinox from summit and nice wooded trail back down.

with the lack of precip lately it should be a good time to do the climb.

(zoom in on the map in satellite mode and you can see just how big the boulder field is)

    edit 2... yet another shot.

def. worth heading north of route 2 in VT today to find some smooth slopes. it's like november all over again!

and I concur with BH about the WhiteRocks hike. One of my all time favs! Also check out Deer Leap atop Sherburne Pass.

Hey guys, feel like I haven't been in here in forever but just wanted to put something out there. It's time for the machete militia to snap into action! Anybody interested- and I mean actually interested in working and don't just want to see what's happening- shoot me a PM and if you're a facebooker I can get you into the group to keep people organized and informed. Non FBers can still hit me up and I'll keep you posted via PM, email etc.

Good to see people still getting out there and skiing. Warms my heart to the normally cold black cockles, it really does.

    LOVE IT!^^^^

    GAPEril

george picked up sum snow as well. maybe more to come too.

managed one more session outta this swell this a.m. at probably the only spot that was working. what looked not worth it at 7am turned into a fun lil ripper zipper session by 745 once the tide filled inabit.

got some new fins for the 5'9" rocket and man o man what a difference a high performance set o fins can make. loosened up the board yet added a ton of responsiveness and drive. cheating. knee high epicness at the honey hole

small wave surfing on little sticks is so much more challenging and tests yer fitness so much more than when the ocean is up. so much fun!

nuther beauty of a day out there. hope y'all git out and do somethin.

Awesome. Most skiers give a fuck about your surfboard. Slurp slurp.
Now please go pedal your hipster ass off a long pier into the 3' "surf" that you rave about.. "Dude, the rollers were almost knee high! FUCKING SICK BRAH!!!! Now I'm going to pedal 9.45829 miles uphill both ways and find some chick to hit with chloroform to ensure that she won't run away.. Not sure if K-mart has a six pack that'd fit your head.. don't be upset if I tell you to shut the fuck up before the first lift tower or 'accidentally' slam the safety bar on your massive, un-helmeted, melon.

BH is on with white rocks, great hike. A little further north will get you to snake mt which has killer views.

Smuggs delivered some of the best turns today that I have had in VT since the big storm. Lap one was so good had to do a second. Smooth slopes and following the wind will yield many smiles.

Have to chime in to give props to the Buck Mountain hike. Just North of Snake and as pretty if not prettier. Not grueling by any means but a big return for little effort.

Glad you are contributing so much to this thread. Keep it up.

And yea, I know, I know, don't feed the trolls.

Glad to see folks getting after it up north... I've fully moved on to fishin' season, having fished every day since I got back east... Still waiting for the good hendrickson hatch to happen, but for know, it's pretty satisfying knowing that I can catch 'em on #26 midges o_O

And bottle, great stuff from AZ. Know you've just gotta get up to MT and you'll be done.

And I went down to where I put the skins on, my shoes were there, in the exact position I left them, but my rain coat/fleece which were UNDER the shoes, were no longer there. Fucking trolls. Went to the office and they had nothing.

You could also try Lye Brook (Lye Brook Falls) trail, or Rootville Trail (Prospect Rock) up into the Lye Brook Wilderness toward Bourne Pond. Be a good time to do these before the black flies come out.

I'm curious to see what happened to Lye Brook Falls after Irene.

    love it, D!

loved gp's last pic of nicely angulated skier rocking out on da side pow too.

tbatt, pm me some new material pleeeze, slacker

thanx for the stickin up akok. folks take me the wrong way sometimes, and altho i admit to being a huge think-mouth, i only mentioned concerns of folks paying more attention cuz i care and hate seeing folks getting hurt that may've avoided doom by thinking of each individual step they take and move they make vs any ultimate goal or agenda for the day.

swamped in bike land. hands are very greasy today.........

^^ righteous TC...but i think we're still on 2.0 until there's a nearly devastating warmup and the cold returns late in the 11th hour

seems like just a few years they did that countdown where it was cheaper every day towards closing.

that was smart late-season marketing. as the prices get lower, the sense of urgency goes up - and one would expect more and more people come out - creating a fun scene - making more and more people return for more.

Looks mighty nice TC, wish I could have joined you this morning. I think I might have to head up tomorrow morning so let me know if your plans change and if not enjoy the trip.

Sweet looking turns, D. Thanks for posting the stoke and reminding me of the advantages of living a stone's throw from the hills. Headin up on the 20th to tour houses for a few days. Enjoy the Chic Chocs if that's still in the cards.

Liftserved skiing options for this weekend: twenty areas from East of the Great Lakes to the Atlantic.

    Quebec: 11, Newfoundland: 1, VT: 3, NH: 2: ME: 3.

It ain’t April Fool – not much skiing for this year
    http://madpatski.wordpress.com/2012/...for-this-year/

Greg is nicely showing that skiing isn't limited to those areas.

For myself, I'll be somewhere in New England this weekend. Vermont on Saturday...who knows on Sunday and maybe Monday.

Hold everything! EC mag gets photo published in The Ski Journal

My apologies if this has already been discussed but I haven't seen any references in my semi-regular lurking. Plonk down the $12.95 ($14.95 in Hinterlandia) for The Ski Journal Photobook and turn to page 022. Or just leaf through at the magazine stand. Photo by akokskis is the lead pic for the article. Congratulations, that's a score!

Edit: the article, on the demise of Stowe's Sugar Shack, is well worth reading as well.
"... Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to your body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards." – Edward Abbey

Which number is it? Not sure if my subscription has ran out? I know I haven't received (yet?) the last one (posted on the TSJ site).
