Great to talk with you powbmps! The wife was not excited about this plan! Hahaha. It would have been fun. Friday afternoon shots and beers, triple lindys and slushy snow. But for not. Crazy f'n weather! For NE ski areas this year was crap! Especially in NH. Aaah f*ck it! Just hope High George gets refreshed next week!
Fixed it.Last edited by lynchdogger; 03-22-2012 at 02:04 PM.

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Good news - Cannon tickets are $25 for the rest of the season.
Bad news - they are closing on Sunday (25th)

That was me. I'm still waiting/hoping for the side of the hand to form that would be where the ring and and pinky finger are folded over in orderto complete the effect. If it just drops all the way to the bottom, It is going to to look like a tiny sharp prick with some hairy balls.

I have been swimming the past two days (well, not really swimming, but I dove into river water for a very brief amount of time) and riding my bike in the 80 degree sun.
Thinking of hiking Franconia Ridge on Tuesday... anyone want to join? Going up Falling Waters to Little Haystack, across to Lafayette and down Old Bridle Path.

)
just read smuggs snow report...they are closing sunday

Smuggs runs until Sunday. Earliest closing I've seen. The upside....a smooth transition to single track and if it snows private mountain.

it was "N'East Mag" may have been an add for meathead films. I swear photo credit was C.Nelson, that is you? and it was someone in a yellow jacket getting a faceshot under a frozen waterfall. Looked just like some that you posted earlier this year. Next time I see the mag I'll Investigate.

Jay is hurting right now. Anything with natural snow is done. The Jet and Haynes were the only runs where you didn't have to cross any grass on the way down.
Bring on mountain bike season.

Glad to see you guys getting after what is still sticking to the mountain! I'm jealous but more determined than ever to come back strong next season. This stupid hematoma sucks, tho. Anyone have ideas on how to speed up the healing process? I did manage to work on my PT this week - walking down the street to the Prohibition Pig twice.
That place has it dialed!
On a side note, is anyone else going to the GZA show tomorrow night at the Nail? Pm me if you are - we'll be pre-gaming.

Bucket - You were close enough, I never realized the similarity of the two names until now. I asked one of their ops guys both of those questions yesterday and he smiled and said if it were him, "I would have dropped the pricing last weekend but it's a corporate decision so who knows when and if they will" and on their close date he said I wouldn't count on seeing April.
Swede - Nice pic indeed! Unreal how much coverage is completely gone since you took that pic. I talked to a guy who did a hike late Saturday afternoon and said it probably wouldn't be worth it after the weekend so looks like your timing was dead on.
Grubbers - Thanks for the Jay report, was considering it for Sunday but might just hit Saxon Hill instead...let me know if you want to meet up.
Edit: Thanks to TC for the heads up...mistakenly (more like stupidly now that I really look at it) thought swede's pic was taken on mansfield, obviously I have zero mt wash area experience! Hopefully pop that cherry very soon before that's all gone too.Last edited by FussyDutchman; 03-22-2012 at 08:43 PM.

3/21 TR: Mt Washington Four-Ravine Circumnavigation
March 21 TR: Mt Washington Four-Ravine Circumnavigation . . . or should that be, March is the new April, or maybe even May, or in some places June.
Yes, although some spots still have nice snow, the possibilities for touring among multiple ravines are pretty slim, or maybe even nonexistent now after yet another day of major melting, and with one more coming up tomorrow.
Full picture set and TR (via captions) here:

... but here are few quick pics ...
Route (clockwise):
Heading on up:

Color coordinating the helmet and skis:

Booting back up after relaying the news up to a waiting Jerimy that, no, it doesn’t go:

Josh in upper Monroe Brook:

And quite a bit further down:
For those stuck in the Northeast, follow my NE Rando Race Series and check out my avalanche course. (For other avalanche course providers anywhere, feel free to use any of my "homework" assignments for your own courses too.)

Unless I'm severly mistaken, N'East Mag hasn't existed for at least 5 years....
Awesome shots, Jonathon.
Sad to hear about the down right hot temps back east... gf told me it was 86° in norwich today... WTF?!
Guessin' I won't be getting any more VT (or NH) days in this year, alas...
Not that much better than here in Jackson, it was up to about 50° at elevation, and with even warmer temps forecasted for tomorrow, things are just too warm.

Just updated my blog post with an entire rundown for the entire East (from Ontario to the Atlantic):
Eastern Ski Disaster and Winter Hating Heatwave
Here is the breakdown from Ski Mad World:
http://madpatski.wordpress.com/2012/...ting-heatwave/
70 or less ski areas that are looking to open this weekend. I might have missed 1 or 2 that are still open in the Atlantic Provinces. Quebec lost over half its areas in the last few days. I didn't manage to confirm a few.
ON: 1 maybe
QC: 42 or less (wasn't able to confirm some of them)
NB: 2
NS: 1
NL: 1 or more
NY: 4
VT: 10
NH: 6
ME: 3Ski Mad World
