darn toot'n. ski there on a pow day with a respectable base and you may never pine for jay again. whole different world. 6" at burke?, 12" at jay?, burke won hands down every time. woods at jay get skied out faster than the pow groomers at burke.
you probably saw my dad loading chairs there.
blog: meeting up with crank this morning to ride the stratham alps with jerry. then head over to ride fort rock for a double. if stratham is worth another lap we may just stay there. today will be all about the up. stratham can be an ass kicker fer sure.
c'mon down anytime vt free! next sunday maybe? skiing forcast for the coming weeks looks downright meh.

Jesus, that's a lot. But I've been up there with a lot of cars at the car park and not seen a soul in there, maybe they were all hikers? Eh, either way, that's too many cars... And that other zone you found looks tasty!
That very much piqued my curiosity as well, but I was actually thinking very much closer. Maybe an old closed area? Maybe some MTB area? Not really sure, but certainly looks skiable.
Yup, instantly rocketed up there with Antelope (MRG) for me, and the conditions were, well, not so great. But damn, what a great spot.
Hah, I could see that in an instant. So few people there yesterday, it was great. Definitely on my radar from now on, I totally dig the vibe of the hill.

Will look forward to seeing folks at the Bowl on the 25th. Will be an excellent prelude for this:

If you are a music fan and you haven't been to a Ramble you owe it to yourself to check it out!
Headed back up Bailey's today. Anyone else?

when i lived/worked there i had a 4" rule. if we got 4" or more overnight i'd skin up and ski 2 t2b laps before patrol got there and before i had to work. east bowl was usually my 1st hit and i'd usually just short swing down the side to leave plenty of room for one of the patrollers that always skied eb as her 1st pre opening pow run. i'd usually get done just as patrol arrived at mid burke and it was the same every time, "so how was it roger?"

fond memories.

Latest sign of the apocalypse. MRG is using this AZ post to promote the skiing.

it's slowly improving eh? skied a couple lines for the first time this yr and it was 'ok'. be light was the phrase of the day...i suppose it's been that way all season. only one core shot and edges are still screwed in, so all is good.
vibes to all the deaths this yr...it's just getting old.

I took three of the bunks at Grace Camp from Tbatt last week but it looks like my buddies are flaking. Anyone want to stay over in the dacks for a couple of nights in the high peak area? Should be a good time whether we ski, climb, hike, or build a booter and let the freak flag fly.
Mont-Royal mags? BTV? Bueller?.....I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record

Today was fast. I tried out the new Ski Tracks app and I hit 95 km/h on my GS skis at MRG today.

excellent days at smuggs w/TWD, mrsTC, diamondback, mtnbiker/boarder
went solo to MRG yesterday...woods looked great though kept exploring to a minimum, a bit of ice in the usual places on trails but it was good to see the mountain again 100% open, the lot full and the long liftlines i hadn't seen all year.Last edited by buckethead; 02-20-2012 at 01:52 PM.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
After much soul searching the Bottle Woman and I decided to once again test our mettle in the High Breadloaf.
As per yesterday, we were greeted by dangerous skies.
Our hearts quickened when confronted with additional snow leopard activity. Who knew that such evil could lurk in these woods?
I could be mistaken but these appear to be tracks of a more human sort. Transplanted 40 something Vermonters perhaps?
No gnar was slayed but very fun meadow skipping was had.
After much labour, self-doubt and moments of true terror we reached base camp only to be confronted by a pack of Weasels!!!! The pack moved quickly but we were thankfully able to catch a photo of one in its natural habitat.

ya but the gaspe is less crowded, more exotic, with terrain that blows the mind. maritime snowpack too so waaaaaaaay less sketch. only 12 hours for us.
nice riding with crank today followed by a killer breakfast at the big bean. for a small area the stratham alps do not disappoint. we def got our climb on. plenty of ice still in there which made riding studless a character building affair in spots. how bout them glades crank?!
thanx for the workout!
what will tomorrow bring??????
