Gotta love Eric F's snow reports, even if they aren't always rosy

MRGTODAY
Feb 01, 2012:
When life gives you lemons, you better put on a garbage bag and go skiing. Today was a morale test for us skiers. With mixed precipitation and warm temps, the skiing was mashed-potato like and fun if you were armed with waterproof clothing, ski-gees and friends.

I for one have had a bunch of great turns despite the subpar. Surprises await the adventurer who is willing and able to roam. Subpar day in the woods beats a day at the desk.
plus we don't have LANDMINES lurking.

and those coming home late who haven't seen it yet don't need to be embarrassed by any of you guys....please do this

weirdness today, pouring at 6:30, light drizzle from time to time at stowe, pouring on the drive home 2ish. warm, obviously, but temps seemed to fluctuate. swear i saw freeze/thaw/freeze cycles in the course of a few hours today. forecast shows below freezing for the next week. ugh. need some heavy snow to bond to what's left.
lemons=lemonade. it's been a pretty great pond hockey season. helps that we hung up lights on my buddy's backyard rink. but fingers crossed for another valentine's day storm. powder will be my lady love this year.

At this point I am hoping Josh Fox is right but today I left the for lunch sat at a marina, soaked in some sun and kicked off the shoes.....then I thought of striper season and I got spring fever...thought of boat maintenance and tossing my new GLoomis NRX 10wt at hungry bass and blues.
...please winter, don't make me long for spring now.

Fuck it. Let's burn Josh Fox for Ullr. Sure I doubt it will help, but one less forecaster is like one less lawyer.

I was at work today saying the same thing about flounder season. Can't wait to go Toss some flies once the dogwoods bloom. I'm hoping that the week in feb I dedicated to bumming around Vt works in my favour. I think my best chance at breaking 30 days on skis is getting behind a boat. Off to the Tool show

while everyone is complaining how bad this season is others like myself are out there everyday that we possibly can, regardless of conditions.on the weekends i ski with a group of 8to 10 year olds, haven't heard them once complain how bad it has been. judging by the amount of people out monday and tuesday,i would have to say alot of people are missing some good skiing.Jmars,no need to think about fishing till the lfts stop turning.working in a tackle shop,i am not sure which is worse, people complaining about how bad fishing is when the guys actually fishing are slamming them ,or guys complaining about how bad skiing is,while the guys actually skiing are having a great time

sounds like someone is super jealous and off their meds, if you dont like looking at powder skiing that you are not doing, then there are a million other threads on here. But this is EC roll call I come for stoke and to see where it is snowing. Not bullshit like you brought today.
You know, you can't just go around and shoot people in the kneecaps with a double-barreled shotgun 'cause you pissed at 'em.

I didn't manage to find any breakable crust at MRG. There was some variable stuff that didn't adhere too well to the hardpack, but most of it was soft and powdery. Had a great time and skied my face off, barely stopping except for free ice cream, cookies, soap and suds (not free) until it started to get scraped at about 2:30. Lines weren't long. Band was great. Hope to be back again next year!
The Weasel finds some technical skiing (that was no match for the bomber Worth bases)

RipVanWinter digs into some au natural.

This POV is making me too lazy, I need to remember to take out my camera a little more. Or get less lazy about editing movies
Hopefully the base didn't get too dinged up today. That fucking south wind was evil. About 65 in the city this eve, too. Caught GMAN going out for dinner urban tele (sandals). Let's hope it gets cold or cupid hits me with a new bike in a couple of weeks......I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record

Snow is rough in the NE and not a lot of love on the East Coast roll Call. Not sure why I'm on a plane back from the alps powfest..... retarted the amount of sidecountry pow that gets untouched. A 5 min skin from any lift and its all yours, but better have you gear and avi skills. There was some personal stuff floated out there for sure a page or two back. Hope you all work that out. As an outsider semi lurker I hate to read that stuff. I don't know TC but think I would like to.... and I know Matt and D a little bit and like them lots. Bummer

alright guys, i know im the new jong on the block, and you guys seem to have a pretty tight knit group up here.
ive been working 48 hours straight, quick naps under the desk, then back at it just to make this weekend happen. leaving tomorrow, driving all night, straight to stowe for first chair. then jay on sat. sunday is up in the air, love to hit MRG but snow looks iffy.
got a place to stay in burlington for every night except fri, prob gona try an find a place to park the car w/o cop hassle an sleep.
anyone want to meet a few new mags/non-mags and share a few turns/drinks? i even finished making a quick (albeit altered for speed) apple pie shine. 3 gallons and were good to go.
no drama, no hassle, just some bros making some turns for fun away from the real world. dont care about conditions, just good times, good friends, maybe making some new ones. let me know if any of you will be around. as a daily EC lurker, thanks for the stoke

The Evil south wind returned to torch back the snow again leaving things soft and wet, ready to set up and start again at building a base. The bush had groomers out early last night setting wet snow into grooves before it had even dropped below freezing, ought to be awesome today. I for one could care less about what 8 yo kids think, they are the same kids who will roll in the mud, dirt or burdocks and proclaim a good time was had. I know good winter conditions and this is not what I am seeing. Kind of like after you have advanced to the 21yo Vegas outcall chick its impossible to go back to the 43 yo methhead behind the local 7-11.
3 gallons of shine? Tickle help you out?

Skied this bank yesterday with a nice 4" frozen base with 4" powder topper on my way to the hill. What a difference a day makes.

Enjoyed a nice dinner at the Common Man courtesey of BigDaddy, thanks again. Looking forward to the arrival of Team Bucket.
Bailed on the Megadeth show as I could not find my Black T-shirt, I think someone stole it.

Usually should heat it up and mix in the warm sugar, not to mention, use 1/3 of everclear I used, but need something to warm me up after 72 hours straight work the 12 hour straight drive? Any and everyone who is at stowe/jay/and either MRG or the bush is welcome to come give er a taste.
trying to think of the third day, group vote....glen or bush? thoughts? looks like i should bring some rock skis just in case...
