Not sure what happened elsewhere but it was incredibly windy (easily a steady 30 or 35 with higher gusts) on the North shoulder of Worth Mountain. Chose to skin and ride Allen because of the prevailing winds and manmade base (Ross is still to my eye WAY too thin) - top two pitches involved a series of survival turns in widely varied condition but the bottom half of the trail rode great. Impossible to say how much show had fallen (3 to 5 inches maybe?) because the wind was blowing it everywhere. Snow was dense and fun where it had not been blown around. Place was a ghost town - saw the GM and a car of Midd Kids but lot was otherwise deserted. Headed back tomorrow in hopes that the West winds will transport some snow to the backside.

Did I mention it was windy?

Gonna make Jay happen tomorrow. May even pay for a ticket for the first time in like 7 years

Probably be in line for the red chair with Lhasas on my feet at about 8, an untouched Can-Am has been in my dreams lately. It's time.

The B-East(not K-mart) must have been anticipating more rain, and wanted the new snow to absorb it. They never spun the lifts today, gotta save your self for MLK weekend, ya know. I was able to get in 4 runs, in 3-6" of pow. It was good snow for the upper two thirds of the mountain. I would have tried a few more, but for the first time out since Oct., the blisters came on hard, and my gear got drenched. Stoked I can remember how to ski.

I imagine they will open only what had some base before. I skinned part of it this evening and the snow was pretty light and at times could feel the harder stuff underneath. If nothing else you'll see a bunch of other mags having a good time this weekend.

Bolton was a success, good 6 inches on top of a nice base. No hitting bottom and creamy pow turns to end the night. Windy which helped create some deep pockets. Hoping for much more tomorrow though, as the BC is calling me Saturday morning, if not dawn patrol up Stowe!

well, was a good 1st day of turns for the season today. skinned the cat at 630 and had a nice 2100 vert of an inch o new on a nicely groomed base. breakfast break brought us the pnvc for all you can eat, then ended up skiing attitash from 9-330. excellent choice. it puked hard all day with a good 8+ inches at the base by 3pm. hardly ever saw another soul on any of the 45 runs they had open while we were skiing them between the tash and bear peak. not very windy at all and that 8" def skied more like a good foot. forgot how much fun the terrain is there. much of the trails are steeper than what mildcat has to offer, and with only 14 open there, the tash was a sound choice. don't get me wrong, i love the kitty and friends that skied there said it was fantastic with close to the same amount of snow and zero crowds. the bump runs today were amazing with all of the pow as well. 8 hours of skiing including the skinning/ski and the legs never burned. had it been groomers, i'da been dead after an hour. mmmmmmmmm, pow, easy skiing

awesome skiing with you today lynchy!!! skinning by 6am tomorrow. c lot. probably no more snow to fall, so maybe just groomers at this point, but rain doesn't happen till noon, we hope!

killer day, just what i needed.

I dunno...last year they opened a lot more than expected with minimal coverage. It was way sketchy but fun. Seemed like they had blown a little bit on Broomstick last Saturday, so maybe Wizard/Broomstick/Heart of Mag with dire warnings of thin cover printed in crayon on a pizza box.

    Nice shots all!

Smuggs was fun today, staying in the trees was the softest and deepest, lots of people getting after it in various places that are marginal

Liftline was getting tracks from some people i know and looked super deep in spots and filled in. Hope they drop the whole line soon.

Lines we tracked out 4 days ago were fat again

    nice, dude!

VtF, glad you got out. Looks like it was worth it. You selling those, I like the new watermark...

MacDad, glad you finally got some. That's awesome man. And even kinds Beast left it untracked for you.

Quick Question: I'm heading out to hike around MTW this weekend, no skis. What's Boot Spurr like in winter? I'll have crampons and an axe, but it's not crazier than lions head, is it?
.....I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record

Skied Pleasant Mountain today and it was almost empty. Mens day so deal on the ticket and more runs open than Wildcat, less wind and closer and the lifts spun late (got one run in I would not have on a mountain that closes at 3:30). Almost every time down I was able to find long stretches without crossing tracks. Being willing to slide on rocks was key. Pitch skiers right below the midstation was money. Guessing 9 to 10 inches.

Yeah I mounted them this morning with some extra small dukes I had here, he is still waiting on his f12's. Same hole pattern, may even insert for him. He was diggin them in the deep, not so much on the groomers. Just has to get used to them.

Base is ripe now in the trees should be able to start poking around when you get back. This is pole probing off the Long Trail. Spots were 4+ feet deep easy

Vin no worries, and you will forget all about the cold once we start joggin up the mountain. Top box is nice and heated, let me know you plan, I am game and should have the new skis mounted and ready to go.

if you're comfortable on LH either with or without ax you're ok on BS. There is a nice steep variation above Hojos - ask the caretaker or take a look at the map. Steeper and steppy like HRT without any huge exposure. Puts you right between the gendarmes between the bowl and HH.

TC, I'll be at Smuggs on Saturday. Planning on hiking a lap inbounds early and then spending the rest of the day poking around in the notch. Mostly just want to get in there to see how things are looking at this point.

I could be tempted to buy a lift ticket depending on the crowd level this weekend.
