Waking up in 5 hours, driving 3.5 hrs, skiing 3 hours, driving 3.5 more hours, then going into an 8 hour shift isn't seeming too terrible at the moment. Fuck.
edit.. not gonna happen. Too much stuff to do tomorrow, too shitty of a driving/skiing ratio.
I'll head up some other time when I can actually ski a full day, and it's even DEEPER.Last edited by tBatt; 01-05-2012 at 10:22 PM.

Tbatt- anytime you want to ski up here pm me, would be happy to get out.
Buttah- thanks dude! Been a long ride and making the best of it.
Crank- no pass. Was going to do usual 2 for 1 storm days and skin, up until recently I was questioning that option due to lack of bc snow, but now we are almost there.
Bottle, see you here it's snowing pretty hard again, few inches down new already in the valley, with this the mountain should be money today.Last edited by thin cover; 01-06-2012 at 04:13 AM.

Going to have to rally this trip and get back for pow turns Sunday.
TC If this snow keeps up I might have a few ideas of where to get some deepness. By the time HA returns we'll be full on. Let's get working on some filming up there. New faces and styles. Best one yet.

Did some say a Party?
No party I'm interested in, thank you. Incident report still not up but says there should be pictures with it. Assuming wind slab. Climbing to ski?; or actually skiing/ At least they were not higher / above the ice bulge. Lets be careful out there folks.
FKNA! Hey it is snowing here on the coast. What is this winter season you speak of? Finally here? Let's hope a more favorable pattern starts in a week or so. Skis finally to be mounted next week. Shoot a PM if you are interested in checking out the W99 or others.
Hope it keeps snowing up under the TC Cloud! TC, speaking of snow what is this: "with lot's more on the way?" What do you know that no one else is speaking of right now. More upslope? Enjoy it.

On a sad note, a skier died after falling off the lift at Ward Hill in Shrewsbury, MA
We used to train there, too. Sounds like a well liked guy... Obviously very sad, but sobering reminder of our mortality. Condolences to his friends and family.
From the Boston Globe:
UPTON - The teenager fatally injured in a 25-foot fall from a chairlift had skied since he was 5 years old and died “doing what he loved,’’ his family said yesterday.
John Street, an 18-year-old senior at Nipmuc Regional High School who apparently suffered a seizure while riding a lift between runs, had a “heart of gold and a passion for skiing beyond all else,’’ his family said in a statement.
The accident occurred Wednesday evening at the Ski Ward complex in Shrewsbury, where the Nipmuc ski team was practicing. Shortly before 7 p.m., Street fell from the lift, which was about one-third the way up the hill, and landed face down on the icy ground. He was found unconscious and taken to a Worcester hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
It was Street’s first practice with a ski team, the statement said. The family, who live in Upton, declined to comment beyond the statement.
The lift was running properly, and Street and another skier sharing the lift had lowered and locked the safety bar, according to the Worcester district attorney’s office. Several students said that the other skier tried to keep Street from falling, but could not.
‘He had a good heart and a good spirit.’

Street, who went by Jack, was known for a genial personality, booming laugh, and sharp sense of humor, students said.
Brett Szymko, a sophomore, recalled that Street got a hearty laugh in marketing class Wednesday afternoon with a quick remark.
“He was in a good mood,’’ he said, describing Street as a big-framed figure with a personality to match. “He was a good kid. It’s terrible.’’
As they left school yesterday, students said they were stunned and deeply saddened by Street’s death. They said classmates could be seen crying throughout the day. Grief counselors were on hand.
School officials declined to comment or could not be reached. Writing on the school’s website, principal John Clements called Street’s death a tragedy that would leave a lasting mark on the school.
“Jack will be remembered as a bright and talented young man with a great sense of humor and a tremendous personality,’’ he wrote. “His loss will be felt deeply by us, not only today, but also in the weeks, months, and years to come.’’
Students planned a remembrance ceremony at the school this morning. On a Facebook page devoted to the tribute, students were urged to wear sports apparel in tribute to Street, an avid fan of the Boston teams. More than 200 indicated that they would attend.
“Please show your support for the Street family by coming out this Friday before school to the auditorium to contemplate on the shining example that Jack Street has left behind for us to follow,’’ students wrote on the site. “We will be wearing sports shirts/jerseys on Friday in remembrance of Jack, who loved his Boston sports teams and always wore their garb.’’
An autopsy is planned to determine the cause and manner of death. Investigators said there was no evidence of any problems with the lift.
Ski Ward’s owners extended their sympathies.
“It saddens us to have learned that the racer has passed away,’’ a statement posted on its website read. “. . . Please join the Ski Ward family in giving our heartfelt thoughts, prayers, and support to his family and friends during this difficult time.’’
The ski area has been in operation since 1939 and is one of the oldest continuously operating ski areas in the country, according to the company.
Street’s family mourned him as a “gentle giant with an amazing smile’’ who delighted in arguing about politics, religion, and social issues.
“In addition to skiing, he was a tremendous sports fan organizing fantasy leagues and critiquing his favorite teams endlessly. Jack’s circle of friends included every generation and they will all miss him tremendously,’’ the family said in their statement.
As students filed home for the day on a cold winter afternoon, many struggled to make sense of a death that seemed so random.
“He had a good heart and a good spirit,’’ said one sophomore. “Everything feels kind of empty.’’Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!
