Lets see what happens up high. Profiles could turn in our favor.
I am saying 3- 4" maybe new from last night. At least its not melting and we are building a base. They were blowing also. Sat should be fun skinning again with potential for really fun if this upslope hit the northern greens the way it looks like it could. Not riding lifts until more opens, plus I like skiing pow. 6 days on skins and powder so far this year. Looking to extend that this weekend
I know it not an ideal start to the season but its been falling if you know where to look and dont mind some scrapes on teh skis. Might head up for a lap this afternoon, definitely looking soft up there.Last edited by thin cover; 12-14-2011 at 12:23 PM.

At least it has been cold out there so a decent amount of terrain has coverage from earlier in the season. Might get a little here and there http://powderchasers.com/category/forecasts. I'm headed there after new years and worried about the same situation.
So far I've only found '01-'02 with a worse base building start per mansfield stake.

Edit: Tunes

Heh... The Church of Steezus Christ of the Powder Day Saints FTW. Instead of the body and blood, it could be the craft brews and creamy bingers. Confirmation could easily be substituted for cliffirmation, or a child's first cliff huck to signify their passing into adulthood. Also one could go to confession and apologize for shameful sins such as owning skis with system bindings on them, buying those bigfoot-shaped snowlerblades in '98 and of course that Bart Simpson hat you wore for like two years.

Frankincense and Myrrh can suck it too
They've been replaced with more, uh, "progressive" ceremonial incense options.

Have that plane re-routed to AK. Southeast has been getting hammered. Bluebird's mountain might have the most snow in the US right now and more snow in the forecast. And here I sit in my tiny little office, playing a tiny violin with my WHINE and cheese.
In other news, I have just received word that Magic's new groomer just got delivered.

On the bright side:
A weak cold front this morning will continue summit fog and snow before tapering by the midday hours as a ridge of Canadian high pressure builds down. Snow totals will be light with a trace to less than a half an inch expected this morning. The quick ridge will bring a drier air mass in allowing for some afternoon clearing on and above the summits. Despite some sunshine working in, temperatures will remain fairly steady through the day as cool northern air pours down. As the high departs overnight, a low over the Great Lakes will move northeast spreading a warm front in. This will bring clouds and eventually summit fog back in as well as some precipitation heading into Thursday. Cold air in place ahead of the front will allow for mostly snow overnight; but as temperatures warm heading into Thursday, precipitation will transition to sleet, freezing rain and possibly even some rain by the afternoon hours. Snowfall will be 2-4 inches but ice accumulations Thursday could potentially be large depending on how fast temperatures warm. And temperatures won't be the only thing increasing over the forecast period; as the low passes to our north and the high departs to the southeast over the forecast period, winds will also be increasing, possibly reaching the century mark by Thursday afternoon.
At least this system should help add some base to the gullies in the Whites...

some kiddie stoke, been taking my son up to the notch to ski. 108 is perfectly pitched for my gimpy self to jog after him holding the reigns. He likes the up and down and is now skiing without an edgy wedgy. Gullies are starting to fill in with white and winter. Gonna be a while until they are skiable.
Hoping the next time I ski deep is not Japan in Feb.
