TC - +1 on Smuggs terrain. Love Stowe, SB and Jay but every year when it's time to buy my pass and I debate going elsewhere, I end up back at Smuggs. SB and Stowe each have great terrain, both lift serviced and bc, but for my $ Smuggs offers the best of both worlds and is much easier on the wallet.

I haven't been up this week but after seeing your pics I am going to try get out Sunday afternoon or Monday for a few hours, hopefully it's still coming down up there.

Last report from the hill was still coming down good up at Smuggs. I've tried all the northern vt mountains and have always had the most fun at Smuggs. It keeps getting better every year. I hope to be there first thing tomorrow, just got to pick up fasteners for my dukes.

When did so many mags end up at Smuggs? Been there for 16 years and as far as mags go I have only met A few.

screw are m5 4mm diameter, plum takes the longer ones, forgot the length, dukes take 8-10mm.

FussyDutch- I have skied smuggs over the years, but this is a first for me being here full time. I agree on it having the best mix of BC access, snow, and lift served steep terrain. I will be out all weekend maybe see you in the upper lot, big dude, big black beard, big black tundra, small nosey dog.

Sounds like Smuggs is worth a go. I always find myself at Stowe or the Bush when I'm up there. I plan on doing some touring/hiking up there the week after X-mas to avoid crowds.

The webcam definitely looked good earlier this morning. I hit Jay and SB fairly often, usually during the week if possible, but the vast majority of my days are spent Smuggs and I never get bored with the terrain. You can always find somewhere on the mountain to go where the crowds are not, you just gotta poke around.

This will be my 5th season there so let's meet up at some point and add to that list of a few. I typically ride on weekday mornings whenever I can but usually end up being there at least one weekend day a week also to bring the grom out.

I hope things are in by then. We got a long way to go before the fun stuff fills in. And hells yes Smuggs is worth a go. There is a lot more there than it seems.

I'm continually optimistic about the weather in that part of Vermont. The first time I skied Stowe the forecast called for 30% chance of snow and then it snowed 18 inches. After that I'm convinced it will fill in up there quickly. Its getting cold, it'll dump up there soon.

VT - You won't regret it. Hiking at the Bush is awesome without question but if you haven't checked out Smuggs you definitely should do so. Lines can get long on the weekends and around the holiday weeks for sure, but there are plenty of spots to escape the crowds and it usually thins out some in the afternoon.

TC - Sounds good, upper lot is my parking spot of choice so I will keep and eye out for you and the dog. I drive a blue 4Runner and hope to sneak out for at least a few hours Sunday afternoon, if not Monday morning. Probably will have on a dark green jacket and wearing silver/chrome colored smith helmet.

just spoke with a co-worker who was up on george yesterday scoping out ice and future skiing in hr. he met up with no other than conrad anker up there. conrad was with a group that tried to summit and got turned around below lions head when the winds were knocking them all over the place. conrad said, "this place is crazy, worse than denali and ANYTHING i encountered in all of 2011".

make you appreciate our summit to car run in 75mph winds last early feb, eh drew?

sherby report. my co-worker laughed when i asked him about it. 2 feet of natural with no melting in between before the sherby will be worth attempting imo.

Everyone knows Smuggs is the #1 family mountain..... The terrain and the snow are not that good and the lifts suck. Folks should definitely head to Stowe and Jay for better terrain and lifts.😉

I'll be there on Sunday and Monday.

Fighting gravity on a daily basis

Thinking of hitting up buzz killington with friends sunday, anyone else headed up there? For price and coverage it seems like a good option, but we'll see what kinda shit show it is. Shouldn't be as crowded as saturday at least maybe I hope?

Hey easy there big guy ....i teach PE not english( thank god)......good luck with the pushing...Will be at kmart on sunday, maybe.....long drive for a day but i am going through withdraw for some snow......
