is still fast & high, from people I talked to in gear stores guides ect nobody is having any luck , I had a river shuttle setup for tomorrow but they called to cancel and go home early

Sure thing Sven, it sounds like the Telkwa is still dumping silt & clouding the Bulkley so people are fishing either the walcott road- quick or Quick-telkwa stretches above the confluence instead of telkwa -smithers

in any case ski season was epic, spring was a month late,the summer weather has been shit, we are just getting summer now, last spring the Bulkley probably reached a 200 yr high above Houston and they actualy had to raise the dike 5' pretty much even with the railroad bed

The party who canceled their 2nd day and flew home I had dropped at Quick 7:30ish and I seen them driving back thru town at 3pm SO the river is still fast & high

SO things could either not happen OR happen late ... they call it "fishing" not "catching" eh?

and if you need a shuttle ... I'm your bitch

Pretty much sums it up for the Thompson watershed as well. Almost non-existent Chinook run in the Clearwater, and very low Sockeye numbers in the upper Adams. Heard they were having some fun in the Lillooet area of the Fraser, though.
Fish in the higher elevation lakes are sure hungry though - have to work to keep them off the hook!

They got a river level button on their site , its a cool place to stay right on main street with breaky included so every morning you can meet other fishernman in the resturant ... telling lies

the weather has been real good lately with no rain, way better than all summer ...levels are coming down

yeah thats the hankin area a ski area cut by ski bums paid for with government $ but it wouldn't have happened without Brian ... cool thing to have

Wacky weather last week, the Bulkley blew out on thursday and looks pretty brown

today I dropped a party of rafting fisherman at the Babine fish fence where the water is still clear coming out of the lake and people were catching fish but I bet it turns to shit by the 1st major tributary

the upside to it all is that apparently the surfing at Tatlow falls is good

I think I'm pulling the plug and going to Montana instead this year... next season...

I spent last week turning an old fire lookout into a new ski cabin and the weather up high was epic, wind rain and a couple inches of snow

If you are not committed to a plan ... there is always next year eh?

Brian at the Storks Nest tells me everyone went to the kispiox to fish and it was pretty crowded last week, some folks went home, there is no jet service into smithers so this time of year a jet in the valley is either a captain of industry or a medivac

Today I picked up that private party of rafters at the skeena -babine confluence and all 8 of them had landed a steelhead so they were all pretty happy but who wouldn't be, that is a nice piece of river and not an easy place for the average angler to get themselves into

I got a party of 3 drifting the Bulkley for the week , in 3 days they have caught 4 including a 15lb ish steelhead

Brian at the Storks nest tells me people staying at his inn are catching but not everyone

It sounds like conditions are challenging but there are fish out there if you are good

the river has dropped some and its also cleared up pretty well

in the last 5 days the river has gone from wondering if these guys gona drown just getting in the water and they only land one or 2 a day to where you can see the bottom and they landed 7

Iin 16 days the bro's landed around 70 steeleads their numbers went exponentialy up as the river dropped/cleared and seem very happy with the trip

last week was probably the hi point for rods on the water and I noticed today there are not so many people, one the guys noted that its not quite as crowded on the water

bro sez the fish are still hitting and there is still time left in the season

Business was very good ...never shuttled so many fisherman before
